We share at most 4% of Neanderthal genes (I am 2.4%). They were almost entirely unrelated to present day humans. You can't explain that with Scripture!
I thought you wanted to keep this conversation relegated to the Old Testament?

We are. Neanderthals has to fit somewhere in the beginning of creation, right? They were another human species related to us only by a small fraction of a fraction (due to interbreeding).

Yet, they do not hesitate to fill-in gaps without evidence themselves, with speculation of all sorts.

Nope.

They didn't come around until after the Exodus, when God warned them about it.

Remember where I quoted it from?

Deuteronomy 28:59 Then the LORD will make thy plagues wonderful, and the plagues of thy seed, even great plagues, and of long continuance, and sore sicknesses, and of long continuance.

See those blue lines?

How many missing links do you think they're glossing over, just to connect the dots?

In Genesis 1 and 2, the word "day" means "stage" or "age", But the Scripture use the word "day" because it fits the prose of writing in religious manuscript, but "day" certainly does not mean 24 hours. In other words, it is figurative, not literal..

I am sure the creation did not just happen in six days. I believe God took much time and interests to create the ecology and varieties of trees and vegetation , then design the multitude of living creatures and animals. He took interests and pleasure to plan out and create the many varieties of fauna and vegetation. Then He designed the multitude of creatures - He took much pleasure and effort in their appearance and characteristics.

An analogy: Think of people who love to assemble models of planes, tans or figures. They wouldn't want to buy a ready all-finished models -- instead, they enjoy the processing of putting the pieces together, then paint them. Same for people that enjoy assembling a 1000-pieces jigsaw puzzle - the process takes time, it is slow, but to them it is interesting and intriguing.

The real creation might have taken years, decades or 100s or 1000s of years. Humans are finite, we live one generation - usually less than 90 years - and we think short term. But God is timeless and HE is not rushed by time. Why would HE create millions of fauna and creatures in 144 hours?

This verse has nothing to do with neanderthals.

That's right.

Because neanderthals are a figment of science's imagination -- a misnomer, mislabel.

They were human beings from the day of their birth, to their death.

It's like finding a graveyard full of guillotine victims and labeling them Homo sine capite, then claiming they predated Homo sapiens by a million years.

No -- they weren't some prehistoric race.

They were human beings who had an unfortunate date with the guillotine.

The thing I would point out is the picture above states that the common ancestor (missing link) happened 5-6 million years ago. There is no room in Biblical earth history to fit 5-6 million years, let alone the lower tiers of the simplified ancestry in that chart, which no doubt adds millions more years.

I might act like a monkey once in a while, but that doesn't mean I have a monkey in my family tree.

I agree.

But you're supposed to just take their word for it that it is a million years.

So whether those blue lines are one inch long, or two feet long, you're supposed to understand that they represent eons.

It's kinda like a picture of the solar system.

The planets (and distances between them) are not to scale, else the picture would be huge.

You might want to check your photo album again.

Who's that playing on the monkey bars? or using a monkey wrench? or eating a banana? ^_^

How do you explain that they share less than 4% of their DNA with modern humans?

According to evolution, we're Grade A Great Apes.
We are:

Ape? Yes.
Monkey? No.

Oh, but they are the same thing to the fundy Christian, right? Like David and Jesus, they are the same person! Lol.
