An Archbishop who assumed far too much who is still being influential in creation circles today. He came up with the well know often said '6 thousand years' but people quoting this time frame often don't know who they are quoting or how or why that time frame came to be. Worse is he gave creation a date which is a hugely arrogant thing to do and in my view completely discredits him.
Ussher decided that God created the world, he said in a 1658 chronology titled The Annals of the World, on October 23, 4004 BCE.
I think other creationists would do well to study who came up with this time frame and decide if Ussher is someone they want to identify with. I don't.

The good news is that how the earth and the universes were created, how long it took, whether Genesis 1-11 is literal or figurative, none of it has anything to do with salvation. Jesus told us what we must do to be saved and if you get that right you don't have to worry about any of this other stuff. It just gives us something to argue about.

What if I came home and found a note from my wife that said, "I love you and I'm proud of you please take out the garbage and feed the dog." Then when my wife got home there were cars in the driveway and down the street and people at the house. When she asked what was going on I said, "I loved your note so much I called everyone to discuss it. I have an English professor here and he is explaining what each word means. We are discussing which parts are symbolic and which are literal," Then she said, "Did you take out the garbage and feed the dog?" and I said ,"No, I was too busy studying your note."
I think sometimes we treat the Bible that way. We should spend more time doing what it says and less time figuring out what the Greek and Hebrew words mean. Love your neighbor as yourself and do unto others as you would have them do unto you are pretty clear.

news is reliable.
I don't see it as coherent or reliable.
