Could we attract aliens by this?

a semantic misunderstanding I fear- it was just to address someone's point, that ET would take too long to set up new civilizations on every planet before launching to the next one- that would not be necessary in the scenario where scouts are used
Yes. A semantic misunderstanding caused by you misspeaking. Strathos had not asserted that such scouts did exist. He spoke of the concept. You then misspoke. You ran out of wriggle room three posts ago. Best quit while you are only behind.

:)

exactly
Strathos said "
it builds a million more robots from raw material, each one goes to another star, and builds a million more..."

lots of present tense here, which is fine in this hypothetical context

And my ancestors be pirates so.. we talks in present tense a lot :)

As a hypothetical. Your reply was not umabiguously hypothetical. Quite the reverse. However, if you wish to continue with wooly writing that is your choice. It will match well with your wooly thinking on evolutionary theory.

The grammar discussion is most fascinating, but going back to the substance of the thread if I may:

The scenario is that ET builds self replicating scouts, which can disperse and map the galaxy in a few million years at speeds well below light.
This info is used to identify the best candidates for colonization, the Fermi paradox comes in where such prime real estate as Earth- sitting unclaimed for 100s of millions of years- seems to indicate that this never happened- why not?

We can't know for sure of course, but that was citing the Fermi Paradox- which goes way out on a limb in assuming the ancient alien theories are not correct!

You mean you don't think ignoring fatuous, unsupported, whimsical theories, most likely created as money-spinners is a sound basis when formulating a lunch time question? Position duly noted.

I was thinking more along the lines of panspermia.

It is very likely that what we have seen as aliens throughout history is really demonic forces at work. There is a very good video from a book by Gary Bates called "Alien Intrusion, Unmasking A Deception." I have read the book several times and found the video last year. Even for an atheist it is worth looking at. You never know it might change your mind about aliens.
