• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

LOL - I live in the US as well - what does that have to do with the relevance of G-d's intent concerning corporal punishment, esp when the OP included scriptural evidence in stating the premise for this thread?

Actually, the word is omnipotent (Revelation 19:6).

That means all things -- angel to the righteous and demon to the wicked.

Of course if he were omnipotent then he would have no need of angelic or demonic aspects, but that is another fork in a different road. The word was, in fact, schizophrenic. One time saying one thing, another time another on what appears to be the same subject. One might rather come up with different owrds, but I imagine they get you banned around here, and I walk with six warnings already.

REGARDLESS, I am an enemy of God and his people, because I disbelieve and do my best to instill doubt in all I encounter. When shall I expect you? And how do you prefer to shake it out?

Fair enough. but I thought there was a distinction between his opinion and his question, and I have been arguing that scriptural reasons are not good enough for the US penal codes, in one way or another. If you follow the train of thought you can see we veered into this more interesting aspect of the conversation, which is why I posted that comment. But it's not strictly relevant to the OP anymore. I concede.

God lets people make as big an ass out of themselves as they want to -- some of us like to think for ourselves.

So what was that scripture about bringing me before God so he could enjoy watching you slay me? Doubletalk? Kind of like posting it and the "sin no more" verses together without comment?

No, that scripture was the very Words of Christ:

Luke 19:27; "Those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me."

Saying "all have sinned" doesn't mean all are active sinners, lol.

Think about what you're suggesting for a minute -- if all sin is equal in the eyes of God than there's no unpardonable sin (Mat 12:31; Mar 3:29; Luk 12:10; 1Jo 5:16-17). There are New Testament sins unto death, friend.

"What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein (Rom 6:1-2)?

I'm sure it makes no sense to you.

Really? Not all active sinners? Then your acts justify you before God. Grace is given once only, then you are cured of all desire to sin? And what is that sin unto death? Blasphemy? Done it. So where are you? Why do I live? There must be some overriding law for those of us here on Earth, yes? Wait, wasn't homosexuality something you mentioned earlier? How many have you "brought before the Lord", then? Again, seems like God's law is not something we are following here on Earth except in specific cases. This rather suggests to me that here on earth we don't really govern according to God's rules.

Moreover, it seems you mystical types only follow the God rules that my government allows you to follow. And you all can't even agree on which of those rules still apply under grace anyway. You say Forsaken, They say Forgiven: let's call the whole thing off. Bottom Line: No one apart from the insane - not even the tough talkers for Jesus - is killing anyone for breaking God's laws unless those laws happen to coincide with man's laws. And thanks to flaming liberals like me even that may not be long for this earth.

Hey, by the way, I will let you know when you and I are friends.

No, we don't -- and you still wonder where the problems come from?

They deleted the thread were I proved the Law is forever, somehow I think you don't really care.

I do know this:

2Ch 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

Either God is lying or you are. Problem is -- God can't lie.

Where I'm from that's called pre-judging somebody.

Hey, by the way, I will let you know when you and I are friends.

Any friend of Jesus is a...well, never mind.
