Conversion Stories

Each one of these stories is beautiful. In the past few months i've been thinking and praying and i'm really considering joining the catholic church, I was a tad bit afraid (none of my family is catholic) but after going through here and reading a few of your stories, i'm not so nervous

Out of interest, is there anybody here that has converted to Catholicism?

I, myself, am in the process of converting to the Catholic Church from the Anglican Communion and was really wondering whether others have had similar experiences. My own reasons were that there was no real faith anymore and that leaders were wasting there time trying to make the Church look "cool" and "modern" by pandering to atheistic and hedonistic ideals.

Just take your time to study the faith and pray about it much. The Holy Spirit will lead you. Peace in your inmost being is the key.

My question would be, have you read the new testament thoroughly? If you have, then you would come to the same conclusion Luther did way back when he was a Priest.

The Lord Jesus isn't going to ask you what denomination you joined or were part of! Just one question..... " Why did you say you loved Me, but would not do as I asked?"

Convert right here. The Church Fathers were Catholic. Realizing that meant joining the Catholic Church.

So here I am.

Before that, I spent a year slumming it with the Anglicans. And while I still rather like Anglicanism, that's not the Church. Luckily there's an Anglican Use parish somewhat close to my work so I can hit that up when I want to.

Well Graciesings; If you care to SHOW me, where I called anyone not a Christian, I would apologize. BUT I have only pointed out the discrepancies of what they have came to be taught, compared to what is written.

If you think that catholicism goes against Scriptures, it is simply because you don't read them with the same interpretation as the Catholic Curch does. So the question is : how do you know that your interpretation is the right one?

When I was in my old church, ever since I was a kid, communion was always my favorite Sunday of the month. I loved and savored communion and wished it was every week. My conversion or my reversion back to Christianity is in my blog here on CF if anyone cares to read it, just click to view my blog. It's a pretty powerful story. Anyway, as I returned to the church, I was happy a little but something was missing. I couldn't put my finger on what it was until I visited a Catholic Church. Here in Minneapolis we are blessed to have the first Basilica in America. It was there where I was told by my mom who was a lapsed Catholic at the time, I was not allowed to take communion there unless I was Catholic. I joined the parish (online) thinking that joining would make me Catholic. Then when I went back, I found out about RCIA. I was very discouraged and didn't join that year thinking I didn't want to spend so much time in the program. I didn't go back or to another church until 2 years later after doing some research and finding out about the transubstantiation. After that, I had to take RCIA so I could experience this miracle. It was at RCIA when I discovered Catholics take communion every Mass and Mass is every day! I waited patiently through the class and when I finished, I finally got to take the Eucharist. I went back for it again and again. Now I go twice a week to partake of this miracle. I am so happy I came to the Catholic Church. My mother saw my transformation and returned to the Holy Mother Church after staying away for over 50 years!. My brother joined RCIA then next year (he just finished at this year's Easter vigil). Now we all go to the Basilica! Me and my mom twice a week and my brother when he can. It is AWESOME to be in the one true holy and apostolic church. I will never change and I wish everybody could experience the flesh and blood of Jesus Christ like we do. Anyway, sorry for the long story but that's my conversion.

But it doesn't have to be to some priest sitting in a confessional... That is a tradition of man, not the Lord.....

The best friend one can have. The one who loves you unconditionally. The one who is the wisest and the most qualified to answer, because HE knows you intimately.. The one who cares more than any human being. The ONe who bought and paid for me. The one to whom I am bone of His bone, and flesh of HIs flesh. The one who has the answer can show me the way. The one who shines a light unto my path. The one, who in a Word, can give me rest in any storm. The one who comforts me, and loves me as His own son...

You are free to believe what you like but clearly the Early Church believed they possessed and exercised the authority to hear confessions and forgive sins.

I'm in the process.

I've basically been attending Pentacostal churches off & on all my life.

I talked to a priest for the first time tonight.

I will go & recieve the ashes tomorrow at the 6pm. service & meet him.

I guess after that I will be attending classes.

I'm really nervous & do not know why.

I've felt drawn to the Church for a couple of years now.

I'm just kinda scared yet excited too.

Sounds a nice state to be in, actually, Michie. Every best wish for your faith-life, and day-to-day life, if it comes to that. I hope things have improved with your in-laws. What's the best thread to catch up on it?
