  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

What would make a lifelong Baptist pastor walk away from the pulpit he loved—and enter the Catholic Church he once rejected?

This isn’t an isolated story. In recent years, a surprising number of prominent Protestants—pastors, scholars, political leaders, even the former chaplain to Queen Elizabeth II—have made the journey to Rome.

Something is shifting beneath the surface of our culture. Quietly. Profoundly.
And now, there’s another name to add to that list: Dr. Jerry A. Johnson.

He was a Southern Baptist pastor, a seminary dean, and president of a Christian college. He knew the arguments against Catholicism—after all, he taught them.

But some questions refused to go away.

And after years of study, prayer, and inner struggle, he crossed the Tiber.
What changed? What Bible passages played a role in his conversion?

Watch Dr. Jerry A. Johnson explain how he found his way home to Rome.

His conversion story may inspire more Protestants to embrace the Catholic Faith. In this video, Dr. Johnson mentions three specific passages from the Bible that convinced him to become Catholic.

The American TFP is delighted to share this interview with you.
