Hello, I am in the Process becoming in full communion through RCIA. I come from a Protestant background, grew up Pentecostal and went to a Catholic School at the same time from age 5-8. When I went to the Pentecostal services all I could remember is loud preaching and running around, and I found nothing spiritual about it as I have in the Catholic masses when I went to them at school. As I got older my family converted to the non denominational Christian born again church, at age 13 I studied the Catholic faith and found the truth. I found many practices Protestants practiced to be false such as sola scriptura for example, symbolic communion and so on and so forth. Now I am age 15, a member of a beautiful Catholic Church, and in the process of becoming fully Catholic and receiving my sacraments next Easter.

God Bless

I am going home to RC after 22 years of trying to find peace outside of this faith. I was raised as a Catholic and after my marriage fell apart I remarried without seeking an annulment. My second husband is a wonderful christian man though not RC. Through the years I attended different bible churches and could not stay at any one church for any length of time. I came to realize that sola scriptura lead to much disunity among christians. I am speaking globally and will add that there are many, many wonderful christians that I have had the honor of knowing. I now understand and totally accept that the Catholic Church is the guardian and interpretor of Scripture under the God given Papal Authority.

I am so grateful that God has brought me back. I have peace and no longer wrestle, as I did all throughout my wayward journey, with where God wanted me to be. As far as the issue with my remarriage, my first husband passed on and my husband is quite willing to have our marriage blessed by the RC Church. I told you he was special!

I am also grateful that CF provides a means by which 'seekers' can learn from each other. God bless you.

Out of interest, is there anybody here that has converted to Catholicism?

I, myself, am in the process of converting to the Catholic Church from the Anglican Communion and was really wondering whether others have had similar experiences. My own reasons were that there was no real faith anymore and that leaders were wasting there time trying to make the Church look "cool" and "modern" by pandering to atheistic and hedonistic ideals.

Thinking about it for similar reasons, and I feel a calling to live my life as a nun.

I'm actually trying to contact the Church near where I just moved to see how to go about getting into the RCIA program. I was baptized and confirmed Lutheran as a child, and then I practiced Black Magick for most of my life, turning back to Christianity 8 months ago. I definitely believe in Catholicism, and all the reading I do is Catholic theology. I'm really interested in mystical theology, and have been reading many books by various Saints. So wish me luck!

Well, I went to my first RCIA class this morning. They let me start late because I'm so knowledgeable about Christianity. This morning I introduced myself to the people in the program and told them briefly my life story. One lady became tearful because of my conversion story. I'm so excited to meet all these new people and have a new life.

I'm a convert to Catholicism and will be confirmed this Easter.

I was raised as a Protestant in a 'rock concert' Megachurch and was taught to believe that God communicated directly to the individual through the Bible. I had also been lead to believe that the Catholic Church was established and paganized by the Roman Emperor Constantine in the 4th century.

Over time, I became disgusted with my church's practice and grew to see the whole things as being phony and so deconverted.

I was an atheist for a while and then I started studying Buddhism.

A few years later, I started reading the Old Testament again but instead of reading it the way I was taught as a protestant, I read it more like I had been taught to read the eastern texts and over time I realized that the God of the Old Testament was the real God of the universe.

This lead me to believe that the Bible really was the inspired word of God after all, but that not all interpretations of it are divinely inspired.

From studying both Jewish history and the history of the early church, it became overwhelming clear that scripture was written, canonized and interpreted all by the guide and light of tradition. It also became overwhelmingly clear that all those practices that I once thought were pagan were actually held over from Judaism, that Constantine's pagan ideas about Jesus (or any other pagan practice from that time) never found their way into church teaching and that the early church could not have even survived had it not been unified (or catholic).

I am so glad to have finally found the real thing.

But at the same time, it's kind of bittersweet. I wish I had found Catholicism much earlier in life but I didn't even know to look. I was cheated out of the real thing for a long time because I was given a fake that used the same name as the real thing. And so when I finally went looking for the real thing, I didn't know what to look for because I had already been lead to believe the real thing was a fake.
Congrats and blessings

It's nice to read all these conversion stories. They're really inspiring.

As for myself, I'm a 'cradle' Catholic, but have only recently come back to the church in full. I was exploring Protestant beliefs and other non-Christian religions, but somehow or another, I'd always come back to Catholicism.

I feel really happy now, and full of life. I thank God every day for leading me back to the church.

Amen Amen I say to you the converts to our faith make better Catholics than the ones that were born into it.

They also sing a heck of a lot better. I just reloacted from mississippi where many in the congregation were converts from protestantism. I had never experienced better singing in a mass! I mean I normally can't bear to hear catholics sing. In Mississippi, I actually wanted to go to mass just to hear the choir.

I haven't converted but wanted to update this, it has been a while and I have been praying and writing about this since the start of 2012. I've given it over to the Lord who knows my heart and is a better judge than I will be at the future of the Catholic Church. it has taught me paitence

I have been baptized and confirmed last year :). It was a long road paved with doubts, uncertainties and bifurcations, deep through atheism and buddhism. But in the end I came back where it began: in the smile of Jesus I imagined as a child. And then back home in mother church ! :crossrc:

I always rejoice when I see how God leads some one such as yourself come to Him; and into a church. Isn't it amazing how He overcomes the challenges in doing so?

Well, I am not Catholic yet but I am walking slowly
I think that the Franciscan spirituality was one of the reason why I came back to God. I think the monasteries/Convents are great help for non-catholics to become Catholics.
I can appreciate some of what you say here. I have been convicted that there is some truth in most denominations, including the Roman Catholic Church. While I don't intend to join this church someday; I love the writings by "St John of The Cross" regarding suffering. I have had massive burns in the past; and this kind of material has helped to lift me up "out of a deep pit."
