Confused by this verse!

Good morning/evening everyone! I was reading the Holy Bible over at biblegateway.com and found this verse to be confusing:

It says the "sons of God" and then mentions the "daughters of humans".. Can anyone explain to me what exactly the "sons of God" are? Are they angels?

These videos are all about free masons. The one that refers to the sons of God and daughters of men is in video 6. I don't feel it really address the question of the OP.

I have also wondered about Genesis 6: 1-4

My bible which is the Quest Study Bible, NIV states:

Some suggest they were supernatural beings such as angels. Other say they were godly men descended from Seth who married sinful women descended from Cain. A better interpretation may be that they were human rulers who emerged as heads of city-states in the ancient Middle East and flaunted their power by having large harems. Ruler and judges are sometimes called gods or God in the Hebrew text.

I watched the first four parts, and then jumped to the sixth one because you said it contained what I was looking for.. I am kind of confused.. he says the union of the sun and the earth produces children.. aka.. trees.. and whatever hangs off of it shall not be eaten? Deep stuff there.. I'm only 19.. help? LOL

Very simply, we were always taught the sons of God were angels, (but this conflicts with what the RCC tells us about the anatomy of angels.) The Daughters of Man are just women. Their offspring (titans) Were exceedingly wicked and were dividing up the earth and it's inhabitants for themselves. Some have speculated this is where we get our Greek, roman and "other" gods from. These demi gods/Titans were the primary reason for the flood.

Anyway, Genesis 6 gets to the reason for the flood, a well as many lesser harsh Judgments of the OT. "All flesh had been corrupted." The pertinent part here is, what does Jesus refer to when He says that as the days of Noah were, it'll be like that when He returns?

I think the Bible is showing the opposite, that those angels were fallen and corrupted mankind as well as the animals.

Well we aren't told explicitly, so I can't say you're supposition here is wrong. It doesn't seem reasonable to me though. (Noah and his ark is still a "type" for us to learn from, definitely pertaining to Salvation)

On the more gory side, we could draw the connection between movies and even cartoons de-sensitizing kids to demonic intervention, so we would think it's not such a big deal. The hybrids had unquenchable appetites, were cannibals, and loved to kill. The great tribulation could be nasty indeed ... also note how perfectly the current ET phenomenon fits the same description as fallen angels?

Does the bible mention anything about the future of these "titans"? How they will be judged, their salvation, if they exist now? I would love to know your opinion!

The part about all this that I find uncomfortable and scary, and how this connects to Jesus' words I mentioned, is after the flood God uses Israel to kill off this same hybrid seed yet again. IOW, a global flood wasn't necessary and He could nip it in the bud in a single generation, BUT - how did these unholy angels get back at it? (Yes I just summed up a LOT of Scripture, but when you look at offensively harsh Judgments in the OT, you see this is exactly what G-d was doing.)
