It's truly amazing the amount of 'teachers' we get on these forums who think they know better than anyone! We are all Christians. We all love God. Not everyone is going to agree.

Peace to you all.

If this makes sense to you, you should live by it until God shows you otherwise.

Hi guys @RaymondG and @Hillsage,

I went back and read a few of your responses to one another. I just wanted to point out that 1 John 1 has a few verses that are NOT about a born again Christian. They are 6, 8 and 10. All of these show name only Christians who have a perverted Christianity. They have never confessed their sins to begin with, and still walk in darkness. It doesn't mean that a born again Christian who is dead to sin must still claim to be a sinner now that they are cleansed and walk in the light, and are righteous.

I know you've both heard me say this before, but for any others eavesdropping :), John is using a Semetic style of writing showing contrasts. Light verses darkness, starting with verse 5. Note every other verse are opposites.

5 God is LIGHT (TRUTH)
6 Walking in darkness (no truth
7 Walking in the light (cleansed of ALL sins, none left to claim)
8 Claim they are not a sinner so don't need Christ. (no truth who is the Spirit)
9 How to become a Christian. Repent - receive the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:38)
10 Claims they have never sinned so don't need Christ. (no truth who is the Spirit.)

John was battling the false doctrine of the Gnostics and Nicolaitans, whose spirit is still in the church today. Many in the church have never overcome sin because they are not filled with the powerful Holy Spirit who makes their desires for sin, dead. True Christians can easily flee temptations and not be overcome. Name only Christians struggle.

Actually I asked you twice to answer another question, you said you had, and I explained how you needed to answer more simply because it wasn't answered at all and to my knowledge you did not. But lets try the one I asked Lettuce...post 239, please answer that one simply and don't put several paragraphs up there and say you answered it. I still haven't fount the answer in the last one you did that with, but no matter, let's just stick with the one in post 239 for now, concerning works.

It's a very simple question.

I get so tired of being told I'm bad if I try to obey God as I'm commanded to. I've never met anyone who thought they were going to work their way to heaven.

Did you read the lords prayer, the one Jesus taught, the one where we are to ask forgiveness? Can you comment on how that can be? Are you saying the man who IS the New Covenant, is teaching the old covenant?

Your turn for the inevitable question to your comment :)

Read the following and simply tell me if we do not do the works described, can we still get to heaven? Simple question, simple answer from familiar scripture. somethng that makes things crytal clear one way or the other.

Matthew 25:31-46King James Version (KJV)
31 When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:

32 And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:

33 And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.

34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

35 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:

36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.

37 Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?

38 When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?

39 Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?

40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

42 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:

43 I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.

44 Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?

45 Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.

46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.
Brother you can do these works everyday of your life. It's not these works that get you into heaven! it's the faith behind those works. many have done everything listed and are still in hell. Grace is a gift of God!!! not by works lest any man should boast!!!

Many in the church have never overcome sin because they are not filled with the powerful Holy Spirit who makes their desires for sin, dead.

Sounds pretty good to me, at least as I understand it but just want to point out to some who may feel they have bad shortcomings because their desire for sin isn't completely dead....it is never truly dead. I think it's as dead as it gets for man, so in sense it's dead.

It's like Christ calling no on truly righteous then talking about the righteous. Righteous aren't truly righteous but for all intents and purpose they are because mans righteousness is a good as it gets for them.

Not quit sure why I thought that so important to mention but I just see new Christians or even seasoned confused sometimes or think there is something wrong with them, for those reasons, in that their sin is not completly dead...when there is not. And that's not to say we shouldn't see to it sin stays as dead as we possibly can.

I know, kick it around every time you walk and at least keep it imoble. :)

Shaheem, here is another Semitic style of writing showing what grace is for one who now has the Spirit. It is no longer unmerited favor, but POWER. This Semitic style is called parallel.

Acts 4:33 And with great power the apostles gave witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And great grace was upon them all.

Notice how you refused to answer the question? You didn't even come close. I doubt you will, but in case there is some confusion, you need to stick to exactly what I asked, the subject, and either answer, or you can just leave it with what you just said, a non answer.

If you look at confession from a guilt standpoint, which sounds to me like you are, are you not putting yourself under condemnation?
You bring up an interesting statement, though an obvious one, why would anyone confess a sin that they were not guilty of? I thought that was the point of confession. Besides that having read his posts I know that he knows Rom 8:1 there is therefore now no condemnation to those that are in Christ Jesus. Thanks

I will say this, you are being extremely condescending. Your question to my understanding was "can a person get into heaven without doing the works listed below?" that was your question you quoted a scripture where 2 groups of people were mentioned. one group did xyz and the other group didn't. but seeing as though your appearing so arrogant in your conversational approach i will just take it for what it's worth and continue to do what He called me to do.. God Bless you

Reminds me of a wonderful verse out of Ephesians 4:29 Let no corrupt word proceed out of yo ur mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers. Have a great day

In Romans 3, Paul, when he said in his epistle, "no one is righteous, no not one," was still talking about righteousness by keeping the law. Without the Holy Spirit, which the Jews under the law didn't have and many in the church don't have, there is no one who can be truly righteous. But John in 1 John 3 does say about born again, Spirit filled Christians, he who does righteousness, IS righteous. 7 "Little children, let no one deceive you. He who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous."

I would tell new Christians to seek God with all their heart, and all these things shall be given them. Including the power of the Holy Spirit. Pew warmers will die in their sins.

I believe a lot of people on here simply comment just to stir up strife. because they take bits and pieces of what you say and twist it up, then try and make it seem like their these highly regarded theologians. I love everybody and I respect their views but I thought we were suppose to be Christians? these people are rude at times and disrespectful. they are condescending and speak as tho their above you.. Lord have mercy
