  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

We most defintiely are not under the Law and that is as born again believers our hearts will obey God. When God says forever I take it to mean that even though I am not under Law. There are many commands, most people look at the New Testament and dont think of commandments but there are many in there, over a 1,000 if I remember right.

Where in the New Testament are we commanded to keep the Old Testament Passover, i.e. eating the Passover Lamb, using the blood of animals to strike our door posts and lintels and eat unleavened bread?

Let me ask you this simple question.
What happens if we do not take Communion as you have described?

Let me ask you a question. What happens to people in the Bible, who act contrary to God's word and will for their lives, regardless of the reason?

To say the least, I would say that they are missing God's best!

Communion in the New Testament carries a warning about taking it unworthily we are to take communion and understand the full implications of the body and blood of Jesus

Prosperity,

The Bible encompasses both the Covenants and the Law. God dealt with people accordingly, so to throw everyone under the elemental principles of the universe is to put them back under the Law.

The Abrahamic Covenant was still in FULL EFFECT even during the period of the Law. Those who believed it were counted as righteous, even outside of the provisions of the Law. It was due to unbelief that the Law was given.

What you are in essence saying is that: good=reward; bad=punishment?

This is what Paul termed as the rudimentary or elemental principles of the universe.

The answer to my question is "nothing".

Grace operates through belief. The Law operates and actually leads you towards unbelief.

In Christ, we are given God's best.

You're saying that by not taking Communion as you describe is to NOT have God's best.

In Christ, we recieve God's best whether or not we take Communion at all.

Communion, I will add, is an act of faith, by all means.

I have been healed on a number of occasions because of taking Communion. A flat cracker and organic grape juice is usually the staple.

Or, was it satan that healed me to deceive me because I was not using wine???

We are partakers of the Inheritance by faith.

We do not recieve the Inheritance based upon whether or not we partake of Communion with wine or juice or bud light.

I know Grace isn't popular, but the Covenant does not rely upon us - not dependent upon our "obedience", it relies upon God's promise solely.

Obedience comes in the form of Holy Spirit operating in our lives.

Holy Spirit has written the Law of Life into our spirit.

This is similar as to what Paul stated:
Romans 14:3 - Let not him who eats look down on or despise him who abstains, and let not him who abstains criticize and pass judgment on him who eats; for God has accepted and welcomed him.

Let's put it like this:
Let not him who drinks wine during Communion look down on or despise him who abstains, and let not him who abstains criticize and pass judgment on him who drinks wine; for God has accepted and welcomed him.

It appears as though we are accepted in Christ despite these differences.

If healing or any other blessing were to come through Communion, it would not be because of the specifics of whether it was juice or wine (or bud light) or leavend or unleavened bread (or Ritz crackers), but through faith.

We are accepted equally in Christ.

All of us are. Even the non-charismatic charismatics. The Baptists, Methodists, AoG's, WoF's, COGIC's, etc... They may not all experience the fullness of the Inheritance, but that does not discount the fact that they are accepted in Christ any more or any less than those who do.

I dunno.

The youth group served it to him.

Doctors told him he would never walk again.

The youth group fasted a week (some food, all TV, most PS2s, etc.) and then had a communion feast which pastor was invited to. At the meeting he was healed.

Cheers,

Amen and are we not all going to be surprised that the bride of Christ will be from all Christian denominations.

Reminds me of an old joke about a Catholic priest and a Presbyterian minister. They both meet in a pub and find they get on well. They both work in Belfast, so they have to meet and pray together and have a drink at clandestine times, in a furtive manner.

When they both die, they both go into heaven. The Catholic priest to the Catholic side of heaven, and the minister to the Presbyterian side.

Still, in heaven, they miss each other's fellowship so they sneak across this huge wall, which is as wide as it is tall, and meet each other every week or so.

Sometimes while sneaking past the wall, they hear singing coming from inside and conclude that it is actually a huge building.

Eventually their curiousity gets the better of them and they find St. Peter and confess that they have been straying out of their zone in heaven, but that they really would like to know what is going on inside the wall.

Peter smiles and tells them "I don't mind you sneaking across to meet at all, that is part of what heaven is like. But, for heaven's sake when you are crossing the wall, keep your voices down. The Pentecostals are in there, and they don't think there is anyone else here."

Cheers.

Well, except if the Kool-aid is laced with arsenic!!!!!

A little close to the bone, though...

A pastor was serving communion in a multicultural church. He was using "Pitta Bread" for the loaf. when he got to serve to an Hispanic young girl, she said to him aloud: "I don't like flour tortilla, I like corn tortilla, Sir."

I'm still getting this image in my mind of Fr. Rick getting a whole glass of wine during Eucharist.

I see people leaned back in their pews with a glass of Merlot, legs crossed and just enjoying fellowship with one another. Now that's church!
