Today's topic....

I think I'm pretty good in the area of submission and allowing my hubby to take his place as head of our household BUT..... :;): I can be selfish and consumed with busyness at times. It's during these times when our marriage isn't the greatest... Surprise..surprise.

It's tough being a SAHM with people always needing you and not having a lot of time to myself so I am in constant prayer trying to overcome my selfish desires.

Hi everyone!
I know its been a long time since I've been on but I have been in Mexico for almost a month now completing our adoption. I will be home with my new daughter next Thursday!! PRAISE GOD!!
I need prayers right now. I am in Piedras Negras, Mexico - where the tornado hit on Tuesday April 24. It hit less than a mile from our hotel. The devastation here is unreal. As of today, over 3,000 people in this small town are homeless. This is an amazing town, full of wonderful, friendly, God-loving people...this has become a second home to me. Please keep this town in your prayers. Thank you so much.
Can't wait to get home & get involved again. I miss to daily topics!!

Although I can not comment on today's topic I would like to drop by and lift up Sandy and her new daughter in prayer to the Lord!

Lord Father God;

We bring Sandy and her new daughter to You. We ask You to bless them and keep them; to lift up Your countenance to them; and that You give them peace; surround them with lots of love and encouragement. Help this to be an easy transition for all involved.

We ask You to bless Sandy and her family during this time.

We ask You to be with the people in this little town Lord. Let them see You in even something this devastating. Let them come to You and lean on You. I pray for good Christian people to come to their aide!

In Jesus Name
Amen

PTL! Praise, Praise, P-R-A-I-S-E T-H-E L-O-R-D! I just KNEW you'd be coming home with her! :amen:

And by the way... Mexico is my all time favorite vacation destination--we go annually. People think I'm crazy, but it's absolutely beautiful and, like you said, filled with beautiful people-- fantastic food too. I really could retire or move there. :D

Sending many, many heartfelt prayers for you, your newest addition, the Town and Mexico!!! :prayer:

Yesterday's topic:
Reflections:
  • Do I put my own busyness and selfish needs before the needs of my husband?
  • Do I need to give my husband the gift of being the man of the household?

Wow, do I need to work on this area! ;)
Though since I have become a Christian, I have 'begun' this is an area that I still need alot of work.
I've noticed though that the more I give, the more Miles gives, and the stronger our relationship grows. For a while there, after Andrew was born, and probably 90% before that( basically the first six years of our marriage), I continually sought my own needs, I blamed Miles for alot of things, and was unwilling to forgive him. Divorce was constantly on my mind, and a few times there, we were just a hair away.
Yet, as I learned to forgive, I leaned more upon the Lord to heal the hurt, and to restore our marriage. We still argue, and there are times, I admit, I wonder why the Lord, put the two of us together, but, during those times, I'm learning to say, Your Will Father, be done. And I'm also learning, that it isn't always Miles that needs to change :swoon:

A deeper look at Psalm 23: part 11

Your Rod and Your Staff,
They Comfort Me
' God has proven himself a faithful Father. Now, it
falls to us to be trusting children. '

When I see a flock of sheep I see exactly that, a flock. A rabble of wool. A herd of hooves. I don't see a sheep. I see sheep. All alike. None different. That's what I see.
But not so with the shepherd. To him every sheep is different. Every face is special. Every face has a story. And every sheep has a name. The one with the sad eyes, that's Droopy. And the fellow with the one ear up and the other ear down, I call him Oscar. And the small one with the black batch on it's leg, he's an orphan with no brothers, I call him Joseph.
The shepherd knows his sheep. He calls them by name.
When we see a crowd of people, we see exactly that, a crowd. Filling a stadium or flooding a mall. When we see a crowd, we seep people, not persons, but people. A herd of humans. A flock of faces. That's what we see.
But not so with the Shepherd. To him every face is different. Every face is a story. Every face is a child. Every child has a name. The one with the sad eyes, that's Sally. The old fellow with the one eyebrow up and the other down, Harry's his name. And the young one with the limp? He's an orphan with no brothers. I call him Joey.
The Shepherd knows his sheep. He knows each one by name. The Shepherd knows you. He knows your name. And he will never forget it. " I have written your name on my hand " (Isa. 49:16)
Quite a thought, isn't it. Your name on God's Hand. Your name on God's lips. Maybe you've seen your name in some special places. On an award or diploma or walnut door. Or maybe you've heard your name from some important people - a coach, a celebrity, a teacher. But think that your name is on God's Hand and on God's lips. . . my, could it be?
Not only is your name written on God's Hand, but what matters to you matters to him. You probably think that's true when it comes to the big stuff. When it comes to the major league difficulties like death, disease, sin and disaster - you know that God cares.
But what about the smaller things? What about grouchy bosses or flat tires or lost dogs? What about broken dishes, late flights, toothaches, or a crashed hard disk? Do these matter to God?
I mean, he's got a universe to run. He's got the planets to keep balanced and presidents and kings to watch over. He's got wars to worry with and famine to fix. Who am I to tell him about my ingrown toenail?
I'm glad you asked. Let me tell you who you are. In fact, let me proclaim who you are:

-You are heir of God and a co-heir with Christ( Romans 8:17)

-You are eternal, like an angel. (Luke 20:36)

-You are a holy priest ( 1Peter 2:5), a treasured possession (Exodus 19:5)

-You were chosen before the creation of the world ( Ephesians 1:4). You are destined for praise, fame, and honor, and will be a holy people to the Lord Your God. (Deuteronomy 26:19)

But more than any of the above - more significant than any title or position - is the simple fact that you are God's child. " the Father has loved us so much that we are called Children of God. And we really are his Children" (1 John 3:1).
I love that last phrase! " We really are his children." It's as if John knew some of us would shake our heads and say, " Naw, not me. Mother Teresa, maybe. Billy Graham, all right. But not me." If those are your feelings. John added that last phrase for you.
" We really are his children."
As a result, if something is important to you, it's important to God.

-Do you give to God the big and the small things of Your live?

Monday's Topic

Week 3: Training our thoughts to defeat fear, worry & anxiety

Human beings in general worry, are anxious and harbour fear. We worry about everything: Am I a good mother? What if I lose my job? What if I never get married? What if I fail?

What do these thoughts and feelings accomplish? Nothing good. These feelings consume and distract us from God. They can paralyze us so that we cannot function or serve.

What are we to do with this anxiety?

1 Peter 5:7> Cast all your anxiety on Him because he cares for you.

A definition for cast is to throw away something; we are to throw our fear, worry and anxiety onto Jesus' shoulders.

How do we do that?

Philippians 4:6-8> Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

  • pray
  • give thanks
  • think on the Truth of God's Word
  • think on what is right (no room for what ifs, if onlys or should haves)
It is so easy to feel so utterly alone when struggling with these emotions. We may feel abandoned by God. But we are to walk by faith not by feelings. God's Word clearly states that He will support us, care for us, comfort us, never leave or forsake us. He is there 24/7, whenever we need Him.

Replace your fear, anxiety and worry with trust and faith. Entrust yourself to the One who created you.

Trust Him

Cling to Him

Rely on Him

A practical way to keep ourselves "in check" is to have an accountability partner. Do you have a fellow Christian in your life that you can call when you are feeling down?

Someone you trust that will give you solid biblical advice and that will pray with and for you? If not, I would encourage you to find someone that you can have that kind of relationship with.

An accountability partner can be an integral part of your Christian walk. A spouse, friend, relative, pastor....anyone that is strong in their faith, a good listener, trusting and able to commit to you would be an asset.

Memory Verse For Week 3:

Matthew 6:34> Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

Great topic LLHW. This is one I know I excel at exceptionally well. Matthew 6:34 is one of my ALL TIME favorite scriptures from the bible. :)

I'm so sorry I forgot to post last Thursdays topic!! Last week was so hectic at work.....we've had major computer problems. The one we use in the sanctuary for our slides on Sunday has basically died and is being rebuilt. Then I was having problems with the printer and was trying to finish up the newsletter and bulletin!!!! Not to mention that on May 19th we're having a cancer benefit concert and I've been doing things for that.
Hopefully this week will be calmer!!!
