I John 3:4 Everyone who practices sin also practices lawlessness; and sin is lawlessness.
Sin is the transgression of APPLICABLE law.
And every born again Christian is aware of what is applicable law, for it is written in their mind and placed on their heart, and they CANNOT hide from it
Its meaning (in stone) is forever (Ecclesiastes 3:14)Would you say that any law written by God with His own finger in stone would be applicable?
Let's cut to the chase as it were. Don't get so hung up on the letter, discern spiritual truth.Would you say that any law written by God with His own finger in stone would be applicable?
Indeed it is! Or in my translation (KJV) sin is the transgression of the law with the Greek work for law meaning; ἀνομία; anomia; an-om-ee'-ah; From G459; illegality, that is, violation of law or (generally) wickedness: - iniquity, X transgress (-ion of) the law, unrighteousness.
Meaning God's Law (10 commandments) another words sin is breaking the 10 commandments.
The false teachings of Matthew 24:24 to deceive if possible God's very elect, is a sign of the last days of the counterfeit Gospel being preached that so many people believe today. What is the counterfeit Gospel? It is a Gospel that tries to do away with God's Law (10 commandments)
Why is God's Law important to helping someone to have faith in Christ alone?
Because it is only through the Law of God (10 commandments) that any of us have a knowledge of what sin is (1 John 3:4; Romans 3:20; 24). If we do away with God's Law we have no knowledge of sin. If we have no knowledge of sin we have no need of a savior. If we have no need of a savior we have no salvation. If we have no salvation we are lost. "For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law." (Romans 2:12).
God's Law shows us that we are sinners in need of a savior. God's Law was given to us that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God (Romans 3:19). It shows us that we are sinners and cannot save ourselves from this disease that we have within us so that we can by Faith lay hold of the promises of God's Words so that Jesus can save us from our sins. Jesus did not come to save the righteous (those that think they do not need saving) but sinners (those that know their need of saving) (Matthew 9:12-13; Mark 2:17; Luke 5:32) God's Law has always been part of the true Gospel of Christ. The counterfeit Gospel does not have it. God's forever Law (the 10 commandments) is the foundation of both the Old and the New Covenant and the very foundation and basis of the true Gospel of Christ. It will be the basis of the judgement where we will all be accountable to God.
The Law of God is the only way of showing us who we truly are, sinners in need of a Saviour and in this condition we can see for the first time Him who loved us and washed us in His own blood and by faith only lay hold of the promises of God’s Word. (2 Peter 1:4) It is here as we believe God that he changes us from living a life of breaking God's Law to a life of walking with him. It is through the operation of God through Love because he first loved us that we follow Jesus not for salvation but because of love. Love is the fulfilling of God's Law in us who walk not after the flesh (carnal sinful mind) but after the spirit and why Jesus says to his followers, "If you love me keep the commandments" (John 14:15).
People cannot see that this is the operation of God in the believer and assume God's people believe they are saved by their works, when in fact Jesus is saving us from our sins to walk in newness of life in fulfillment of His new Covenant promise (Hebrews 8:10-12)...... Gods Sheep hear His Voice salvation is from sin and sin is the transgression of God's Law (1 John 3:4) whosoever is living in known unrepentant sin has neither seen him nor known him (1 John 3:6)

Don't just follow the letter, allow the Spirit to lead you.The other nine of the TC would be written in your mind and placed on your heart, absolutely
Let's cut to the chase as it were. Don't get so hung up on the letter, discern spiritual truth.
God told Moses the Israelites were a still necked, heathen people who would soon desert him once they reached the promised land. Such people needed to be encouraged to set aside a specific day to meditate on God
But under the NC, the Holy Spirit dwells in each and every believer. And through him dwelling in believers Father and son dwell in believers and believers in them( john17:21)
As father and son are in you, you will instinctively meditate on them seven days a week, including Friday sundown to Saturday sundown. You will have heartfelt gratitude to God every day for what he did for you by sending his sin to die for you. And you will be thankful every day. And you will rest in what Christ did for you all Severn days. The spiritual intent of the fourth commandment is a reality in born again believers all seven days.
Don't just follow the letter, allow the Spirit to lead you.

Yes they would be without sin because they would not know what sin is (1 John 3:4; Romans 3:20: Romans 7:7; James 2:11) God's Law brings us to Jesus because we are sinners so we might have salvation. We are told if we break one of the 10 we are breaking all of the 10 and guilty before God of sin. Back to your question this is why it is written; For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law (Romans 2:12)Good points, also if there is no law then there is no sin and consequent judgment. Wouldn't everyone born after Yeshua's earthly ministry be without sin if there is no law? Wouldn't that mean that they have no need of a Saviour? I really don't understand this lawlessness stuff.
We will have to agree to disagree. I have given you my point of view. To keep repeating it would achieve nothing.I understand what you are saying but the command is to have one day special, the 7th day. If you have everyday as the same then it is not fulfilling the command in my opinion.
If we all observed the Sabbath everyday then no one would go to work. While that thought is appealing, it would be a disaster for society.
Whoever believes they must observe God's Law in order to attain Heaven does not know God, because by the deeds of the Law shall no flesh be justified in his sight. God's Law is to reveal to us and lead us to the one who loves us and washed us in His own Blood, to make us white as snow. If you do not love you do not know God for it is only by love that we fulfill God's Law and walk in the Spirit.Obeying Gods laws to attain to heaven, or attain to heaven by obeying them because that proves you love Jesus, includes obeying them faultlessly on the inside as well as outside. If you take a different view, your view would be the same as the Pharisees of Jesus day, who were careful to clean the outside of the cup but not the inside
You and I agree on something. Break one of God's laws and you have broken them all.Whoever believes they must observe God's Law in order to attain Heaven does not know God, because by the deeds of the Law shall no flesh be justified in his sight. God's Law is to reveal to us the one who loves us and washed us in His own Blood, to make us white as snow. If you do not love you do not know God for it is only by love that we fulfill God's Law and walk in the Spirit.
LOVE is the fulfilling of God’s Law In us who walk not after the flesh but after the spirit; Love is in-deed the fulfilling of God’s Law. This is the promise of the New Covenant. Spoken about by God in the Old Testament and repeated in the New.
Eze 36:26-27,
A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh and I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.
Jer 31:33-34,
But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, says the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people and they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, says the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.
Heb 8:10-12,
For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people and they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest. For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.
So now under the new covenant when God changes our heart; we will love God and our neighbour.
if we love God we will not steal
if we love God we will not murder
if we love God we will not commit adultery
if we love God we will not lie
if we love God we will honour our parents
if we love God we will not covet
if we love God we will have no other gods except our God who loves us
if we love God we will not make unto any idols
if we love God we will not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain
if we love God we will Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy as he asked us to!
God’s Law has always been central to both the Old and the New Covenant. It is only by the operation of God as we have Faith in His Word that God changes our hearts so that we can love him and love our neighbour that we can walk in his ways. This is why Jesus says its only if you love me we can keep hid commandments (John 14:15)
Psa 51:10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.
Psa 51:11 Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.
Psa 51:12 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.
Psa 51:13 Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee.
Love is the fulfilling of the God’s Law. I love Jesus and want to follow Him how about you
If we are knowingly and wilfully breaking any of God’s Laws however we are sinning against God. Sin is the transgression of God’s Law and God’s Word tells us that if we continue in sin the wages of sin is death (1 John 3:4; Rom 6:23). If we choose to follow the teachings and traditions of man over the Word of God then we are unbelievers in God’s Word. This includes the 7th Day Sabbath which is one of the 10.
In Christ Always!
You and I agree on something. Break one of God's laws and you have broken them all. Therefore, if you have any impure thoughts, graven images in your mind, at any time fail to properly honor your parents, ever fail to in your heart to put God before anything or anyone else you have broken ALL of God's laws including the fourth commandment as written. And in accordance with what you wrote you have failed to properly have the love of God in your heart, for the law is not fulfilled in you. And, in accordance with your beliefs, you have failed to show you love God by not obeying all his laws And I didn't even mention the second greatest comnandment
