  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I think this is just pseudoscientific nonsense. Acrylamide is found in many foods, not just coffee.

While acrylamide may be mutagenic in laboratory conditions, the biological effects of coffee are more complicated than one single chemical.

Lighter roasted coffee actually contains more acrylamide.

Researchers have conducted more than 1,000 studies looking at this question, with mixed results. Some early studies seemed to show that coffee might increase risk of some cancer types. Since then, however, larger and better designed studies have weakened those conclusions. And many of the newer studies link coffee drinking to a lowered risk of some types of cancer, including prostate cancer, liver cancer, endometrial cancer, and some cancers of the mouth and throat.

Can Coffee Lower Cancer Risk?

  1. Oral Cancer: More than 4 cups of coffee a day decrease oral and head cancers by 39%.
  2. Uterine Cancer: Woman who drink more than two cups of coffee a day have less chance of uterine cancer.
  3. Prostate Cancer: Men who have 6 cups of coffee a day reduce their prostate cancer risk by 60%.
  4. Brain Cancer: At least 5 cups of coffee prevents certain types of brain cancer by 40%.
  5. Colon Cancer: At least 2 cups of coffee a day can cut colon cancer risk. A newer study showed that colon cancer patients who drank four or more servings of coffee a day were 42% less likely to have bowel cancer recurrence after surgery and treatment. This study was conducted by the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. An even newer studyalso supported this previous research regarding the reduced risk of colorectal cancer among coffee drinkers.
    1. Breast Cancer: At least 3 cups of coffee a day can prevent or delay the onset of certain types of breast cancer. Another study showed that at least 2 cups of coffee consumed along side the breast cancer drug tamoxifen, resulted in 49% less early breast cancer recurrence among breast cancer patients in Sweden.
  1. Liver Cancer: Coffee drinkers have 41% less instance of liver cancer. A more recent study showed that 1-3 cups of coffee a day reduces risk of developing hepatocellular carcinoma by 29%. Link
  2. Endometrial Cancer: Women who consume at least 3 cups of coffee a day have a 19% decreased risk of developing endometrial cancer, which claims the lives of about 10,000 women in the USA each year. The research.
  3. Caffeine protects against lung cancer. A new study published in the Experimental Hematology & Oncology journal showed that caffeine inhibits a couple of proteins found in lung cancer cells, which in turn prevents the cell’s growth and reproduction. The study.
  4. Skin Cancer: A recent study published in The Journal of the National Cancer Institute found that caffeinated coffee drinkers were less likely to develop melanoma. The more coffee people consumed the less risk was observed. Study abstract.

Everything in moderation. Too much of anything was never “good”

And. “Everything in moderation” is biblical

Can Coffee Lower Cancer Risk?

Sep 14, 2016

Most Americans drink at least 1 cup of coffee a day, and many feel like they can’t face the morning without it. So wouldn’t it be great if our beloved beverage helped protect us from cancer? There is, in fact, some reason to believe it could. Coffee is brewed from beans that contain antioxidants, which are thought to have a protective effect against cancer.

ETC.
More than two cups of coffee s day? Less chance of uterine cancer?

Well. I still am going to limit my coffee intake.

Coffee has been pretty well studied and has been shown to have some health benefits, in moderation. If you dig deep enough, you could likely find some research somewhere, that may indicate an increased cancer risk, for just about anything.

Agreed. Even oxygen causes cancer — it's one of the best oxidizing agents out there.

Lets get this in perspective.

Coffee can help to fight cancer. Just use it in the right way. Avoid dark roast coffee, and go with Medium or Light roast blends.

The problem is not the coffee beans. It is over-roasting them.

Acrylamide is also found in a number of common foods, including burned toast. The problem is when food ingredients get burned.

And i suggest that if you really want to attack cancer naturally, start preparing your own vege drinks from raw organic vegetables. Wash them and disinfectwith vinegar, then put them through a blender and drink the juice. Very important!!

And here I am getting irritated when I come across food products that obviously wouldn't contain gluten advertised as gluten free.

Thanks supermarket. I'm glad to know that my butter isn't made from wheat.

In their defense they probably know it's a bit much to expect your average hipster to know that gluten has anything to do with wheat.
