Yes we are transfomed by the Holy Spirit-- It is HIM who inspires us and gives us the holy nudge we need to do what we are called to do.By Power of the Holy Spirit..It is Christ at work in us.. We are to submit all we are or have unto the Lord..He is the one who declares us righteous. Our works is to be more Christ like.. Taking Gods word and walking it out here on earth. Not to be saved but because we are saved.. It is Christ who saves us.. It is us that are to read His word and conform to His word.. So that in doing this those without Christ can see our lives and glorify our Father in Heaven.. We look to Jesus the Author and finisher of our Faith. As we submit to His word He will cause growth in our life..
We don't disagree there.
But the works are not only acting like Christ, the works in conjuction with grace transform us into what Christ redeemed us to be, the sons of God.
So we are like Christ, we don't just act like him, we don't just act the part, we live it, we are it.
This is about Theosis once again, not just dung covered up but really transforming into something beautfiul for God.
And the works are forgiving as we are forgiven. They are obeying His commands and they are loving each other as Christ loves us all.
That is a tall order to fill but if we can do this, and we won't unless we allow the Holy Spirit to live in us as we listen to him... Jesus will call us freind which means we will have a share in Him, not just wear his merits like their a peice of clothing while underneath we are not better then we were before.
Covered up dung is not transforming. It is staying as you are underneath.
But transforming is changing, not staying as you are. It is becoming what Christ died for us all to be, something beautiful for God.
