OK - raging hard-on = gawker pervert; limp **** = normal nudist. Got it.

Based on my personal experience, that is how I would bet.

I believe that was a construct of the Wesleyan Holiness movement of the late 1800s and into the 20th century.

I just heard this view of the glory as Adam and Eve's covering a few years ago, so I thought it was fairly new. Thanks for the info that its origins goes back further into history.

Should we be afraid of nudism, or is it something beautiful and natural and something to share and not hide as long as people accept it?

I've found being nude to be a very healthy things. So I don't see a reason to be afraid of it.

I grew up with it in sunday school in the early 60s - Church of the Nazarene. It was when I started looking it up a couple of years ago that I realized it went back to the 1800s.

I attended a Nazarene church for 10 yrs. Back to an AG church now.
Not much difference there except for the gifts of the Spirit.

What do you think God's response would be?
Disapproval with an eloquence beyond what I am capable of relaying or even imagining.

Most nudists aren't even particularly good looking. They don't have much to show off.
Sadly, that doesn't stop a lot of people from showing off. If it happens with certain outfits in the mall, it can happen on a nude beach.

Where I differ is the idea that "unnecessary" nudity is a source of boastful pride, and that it serves no useful purpose.

For most people, nudity is a state of ultimate humility and unpretentiousness, which is one reason it makes social interaction easier, especially between strangers. It's part of our shared humanity, and emphasizes what we have in common, rather than what sets us apart. Clothes have historically distinguished the wealthy and powerful people from the commoners, and have reflected one's rank and social standing in society. We see this today in "label envy" which prices worn-out jeans at $200 or more in fashonable stores, while new $10 jeans at Wal-Mart are looked down on.
But this can be achieved with frocks, habits, or uniforms. I don't see what benefit nudity has in this context.

What is more unnecessary than a swimsuit? Swimming nude is much more enjoyable and efficient. A nude person dries off quickly after leaving the water, while a swimsuit keeps its wearer wet and cold, dripping everywhere. Clothes make hot humid weather a miserable experience; it's no coincidence that nudism is most popular in the southern states near the Gulf.
It's a layer of protection against small foreign objects going into your butt crack. I would think that this extra layer would have health benefits for women as well. In terms of modesty, the less you can get away with showing off, the better. So if a swimsuit is functional and not fancy, that to me wins the modesty competition.

Other than supermodels, athletes, and bodybuilders, people rarely feel boastful pride about their bodies; the opposite is usually true, especially for women who feel totally inadequate if they are larger than size 3. When they see groups of other typical women (who are larger than size 3), they relax and begin to appreciate their inherent beauty (this was my wife's experience).
I have a hard time believing this cannot be accomplished with clothes on. Besides, if you've got it and if you hide it, I would think less people will try to flatter you for having it.

Reaching back to the OP:

This may be strange to most people, but I would almost always rather be completely nude, especially in nature. I'm 27 and I've been somewhat of a closet nudist for the last 10 years of my life. Theres nothing sexual about it for me, it just makes me feel happy and free. I'm never naked in front of anyone who is offended by it. It's usually just my wife and close friends who aren't bothered by nudity.

My family and I spent the Labor Day weekend at our favorite nudist resort.

While not strictly "in nature", it was in a rural setting with much outdoor time and beautiful surroundings.

Nothing sexual about it. No one did anything publicly that would be considered "R" or "X" rated (except not wearing clothes).

It also makes us feel happy and free, among other things.

Certainly no one who saw us was bothered by it; if they were, they wouldn't be there.

Just my wife, kids, and about 250 others, many of them old friends, some of them new friends.

About 2/3 of the people there are Christians.

Someone said grace for the group before the potluck on Saturday;

The preacher prayed several times during the church service on Sunday;

And these were Christian prayers, not prayers to the earth goddess or other non-Christian entities.

These are good-old-boys (and girls) who support the military, gun rights, NASCAR, and their favorite sports teams.

Today most people do not agree with GOD.
Indeed, people twist scriptures to follow their own iniquitous desires. Rather than considering others, self indulgence is the goal. Sad.

Well, I've said my piece. Toodles.

How is dressing up an iniquitous desire?

People twisting the bible to suit their wickedness? Since when is Genesis 3 verse 11 twisted to suit a wickedness?

What is to hide?

I was reading online about a group in NYC. They call themselves the Outdoor Co-ed Topless Pulp Fiction Appreciation Society. They are a group of women who gather in NYC parks on weekends to sunbath topless and read book. They reported that people have yelled at them for being topless in public, something that is entirely legal in New York State. Why don't these people just mind their own busineess? If they are offended they should either not look or move elsewhere. Why is that such a problem?

I went to a nude beach before I was saved. Loved it! I felt free an natural and yes swimming feel totally different.. great! Since becoming a Christian I've had mixed feelings. Never went nude in
frfront of my kkids just uncomfortable about it (maybe that's telling me something) the beach I went to was adult. Didn't notice any sexual overtones at all. I don't go nude now even in my house alone nor sleeping. Think I mmight have to run outside or deal with an unexpected something or other I guess. Body type didn't matter on the beach. All ages and types. It was nice. Don't know if it's a sin but bible does speak of modesty. Have been very aware of that after my conversion. Guess I'd have to go with no nudity although I really did enjoy it's
