The best thing to do is to pull the best from both time periods.

Unfortunately, though they weren't the best fo times before 7/7/07, the manner in which this site has been afterwards is horrid....in most aspects.
How is that?
There is still the heated debates between Catholics and non-Catholics for example and some of those debates have been more horried than what I have seen on the NCR or even the GA boards.

You bring up a valid point. Is this a church or is it more like a gathering.

If this is going to be a church then there will be a major overhaul and those who are against it being Christian completely are going to stomp their feet since you must set it up Bibically.

If it is going to be a place where Christians can gather and fellowship, there needs to be protection for the Christian to feel safe and for the non-Christian to venture in. However, they must realize they are a visitor and should conduct themselves in such manner.

I'm already a member of the Church and this isn't it although there are a lot of of other members around me...

I think everyone should feel safe.

Should everyone have an equal say? I dunno.

I think everyone's voice should be heard but there should be some guiding principles that are somewhat non-negotiable. I think that's kinda what Erwin was trying to do with his guiding principles after 777 but there was quite a shuffle going on there...

I'm disappointed that reports will be private again. I think it really helped people to see what mods do when working reports. Many of the concerns that lead to 777 in the first place had to do with secrecy, and the idea (mistaken or not) that staff did whatever we liked behind our closed doors. The openness has helped. I hate to think of us going back to the pre-777 animosity based on secrecy.

I agree , it's fascinating seeing someone attempting to explain that flaming a person to death was for their own good ! ^_^ :D :p

Long may the reports stay open , it adds a whole new dimension to logging on ;)

This is really sad. I see what the moderator said earlier about arguments amoungst believers. Either the bible as it exists now is the Word of God or it is not. It's not complicated.

Lee, for the record I appreciate the changes you are making and am praying for you as you go about sorting all this out.

I for one appreciate the fact that you have listened to the concerns of everyone! I'm excited to see you shine in this endeavor!

God bless you

A few questions:

1. Do you think moding reports could be made simpler? I loved being a mod, but having to document EVERY step I took so long to work a report.

2. Will previous mods be able to return?

3. What credentials will be needed to be on the reconciliation team? That sounds very interesting work to me. I'm a peacemaker at heart. :)

Who is and who is not a proper Christian is not the question. The question in my opinion is; can you lead and grow a forum without defining Christianity simply and clearly within the leadership of it?
I don't think so.
If you don't believe what you believe strong enough to make it your operating system then you have not believed it.

I see that Lee is up there reading. Why don't we settle down on the doctrine debate and give him chance to catch up. If we continue to muddle up the thread, it will only take longer for him to get through it and be able to answer.

I ask this not as a Moderator, but as a member who is anxious to see, if after announcing the changes, our new leader has anything else he wants/needs to say.

I would suggest you stop the debate and take it to a different thread.

This is not about doctrine but about the changes.
I agree. Maybe this topic of debate should be started in a new thread in the Wiki/Rules Discussion forum.

Sorry Gwenyfur...I have this bad habit of making posts simultaneously with mod hats.
