There is more cruelty and mocking between Christians than there has ever been between Christians and non-Christians.
The Christian section makes General Apologetics look like Mister Roger's Neighborhood.

Believe me I have seen it and if you check my posts you will see I have been addressing it.

Hi Annebelle ..Long time no see..

Just one of many differences held by (actual) Christians. So who decides? :)
tulc(not trying to belabor this but it is going to be a problem) :sigh:)
Come on, it's not that difficult. Do you believe that Christ died on the cross for your sins and that he rose again on the third day? If so, you are a Christian (no matter what rituals you perform during your "religious" practices) and if not then you are not a Christian. Is Jesus Divine? Is the Bible the Word of God? Pretty simple the gospel message really.

Personally, I have not seen that, but I'll take your word on it.

Either way, here's the deal. Family members are allowed to - and do - bicker among themselves all the time. It happens in almost every family. But when some outsider, or punk, starts bashing on one of the family members, the others will instinctively surround the attacked and defend him/her.

I have three children - two grown sons and a daughter in high school. My sons will tease their sister, and she'll bicker with them. But if some guy started hassling my daughter, he better hope neither of her brothers knows. And that's exactly the way it should be.

Out of simple respect, I NEVER go onto an Atheist forum and start calling them names, telling them they're stupid, and causing undue problems. Neither do I go to Muslim or Hindu forums and start making fun of them. It's simply a matter of respect and basic human dignity.

Unfortunately, that has NOT been the case here. While there are a few atheists & agnostics who have been very civil here, the majority have not. They should NOT have been invited, and once it was seen how they were going to behave, they should have been banned. Period.

I suggest getting rid of the LDS (Mormon) congregational forum. Joseph Smith's lies do not deserve that sort of legitimacy.

Let's get rid of "Platonic Theists" while we're at it too :p

Everything you stated here are your personal religions beliefs. But not all Christians agree with them. :)

Guess you and I see this website differently..I see it as a save haven to encourage that weak and struggling to a deeper walk in Christ..I see this as a safe haven for seekers also to inquire about our faith . You see it as a place to street witness...Iv'e witnessed in the streets and my co-workers..I know how nasty it gets.. But it saddens me to see a forum overrun and believers who this forum is for are run out..shalom..kim
You're assuming too much, dude. There are areas which are safe havens. Look at OBOB. Barely an atheist in sight; look at CC. Not a single atheist. But both forums are turmoily at the moment because we aren't doing it right. But they're still safe havens.

Most of us want somewhere we feel safe here, and it's all good. What's unacceptable is the responsibility of the state of the site being palmed off on the atheists, because they're an easy scapegoat. Much easier to do that than look at ourselves and acknowledging we're collectively messing this up. We need to stop doing that. First, because we're a bigger problem, and second, because the Lord loves them, and we must, also.

...if that's true why are there different denominations?
tulc(still wondering) :)

That's easy. It's because YOU are WRONG and I am RIGHT. Remember? We've been over this before! ;)

CF has always been open to non-Christians as the Outreach (questions by non-Christians) and the previously open forums such as GA and E/C would tell you.

If allowing non-Christians to register and post like everyone else is something you don't want in a discussion forum then I would have to ask why you ever bothered to register here in the first place since CF has always been open to more groups than just Christians..
I think non-christians posting is AWESOME! It's a great outreach and a great place for people to get answers.

I would only stipulate that non-Christians are genuinely seeking and asking questions with a RESPECTFUL attitude. Flaming someone for their faith is not respectful...it's mean. What's the point in that? Those people are not genuinely seeking answers they're just trying to stir the pot so that they can proove their point that Christians are "nuts".

I think what Lee put out there addresses this issue. He's trying hard to make things better. Not everyone is going to be happy, but at least he's hearing us. I give him a lot of credit for that!

Perfect! Three words: A Respectful Attitude. And that is precisely what has been missing from most of the atheist internet trolls that were invited here. Again, I'll say, "most".

Thank you!

And...would just like to add...I have had MANY logical conversations with atheists about my beliefs without any flaming or putdowns. It takes a mature person, but it is possible. Nothing wrong with expecting it here.

Any "invitation" was probably the creation of General Apologetics, and that occurred something like four years ago.
Slight clarification while agreeing with your overall point -

GA has been around from the start, almost six years ago. Also from the start, Erwin made the site open to all, and welcomed non-Christians with open arms. :)

And that's great.

But when was all civility thrown out the window? Was that after 7/7/7, or before?

Look, I'm not the sharpest pencil here, but what I know is that something happened earlier this year and this site went to the pits..I just would like to see it like way it was...shalom..Kim
