  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

He is Risen indeed !

Christ is risen from the dead, trampling death by death, and to those in the tombs giving life.

Христои́с воскреи́с із меи́ртвих, смеи́ртю смерть подолаи́в, і тим, що в гробаи́х, життяи́ даруваи́в.

Truly HE is risen. Allelulia Allelulia Amen.

Happy Orthodox Easter.

This is my first time I EVER celebrated Orthodoxy Easter and today, May 1( which BTW is also Law Day), is the latest Easter I ever celebrated in my life considering the fact I just came out of Roman Catholocism. Last night, I went to an Orthodox divine liturigy for the Easter vigil and it totally blew me away though I was getting tired and was hoping for the time to pass quick so I could sleep, because the liturgy went started at 11:30 PM and lasted over 2 1/2 hours. I went to sleep at 3 AM. The incence, procession, chanting, singing, and all the praising made me feel like If I saw ALL of the Easter story as it has happened. For example, while walking with the procession, I envisioned Mary and the apostles that were bringing stuff to Jesus' tomb. The Easter vigil in the Orthodox Church for me felt like being reborn in heaven and it had glamor that blew away Easter Vigil Mass in the Catholic Church I used to go to.

Yes indeed. Catholic masses are like the diet version of Christianity. You see what Catholicism could've been if they'd remained in communion. The Paschal liturgy is 50 times more incredible than the Roman comparable Mass. My wife and I were talking about that again last night. Plus the JOY people show at Pascha compared to the drabness of Catholic Easter, no comparison. There is a palpable joy in the air, big ear-to-ear smiles, and a sense of something out of this world. The Catholic Mass is like the usual faire with a touch of white flowers and more dead beats showing up once a year in fancy get-ups.

Truly HE is risen. Allelulia Allelulia Amen.

Welcome to CF, and to TAW!

:)

You should try going to as many of the services before Pascha as possible. Be there as Lazarus is raised from the dead, experience the joy of the Triumphal entry. See Judas' reaction to the extravagance of the woman who anointed Christ, his decision as a result (and by contrast) to sell Christ, experience the institution of the mystical Supper and witness Christ washing the disciples' feet, and Peter's reaction. Keep vigil in the garden as Christ prays, observe the political wrangling associated with the trial, experience Peter's bitter disappointment at his foretold denials, hear his Mother's lament to see His suffering, listen to the thieves crucified on either side of Him, hear Christ's prayer that His tormentors be forgiven, see the soldier's reaction to the events that accompany His death. Understand the defeat of death itself, and accompany the myrrh-bearing women to His tomb (and even more than all of this) ... and THEN experience the Resurrection!

The Church does what she does very well. It truly is like being there in a very present sense. I'm glad you did get to experience some of that. :)

In hearing the descriptions of a number of first-timers through Pascha, and comparing it to my own experience, I'm starting to think there may be some special grace, perhaps. Or maybe it's just being exposed to things like what the Virgin Mary must have felt for the first time? (In my case at least, but I would guess that is not true for a Catholic.) I don't know for sure. But what I do know is that Pascha is an amazing time!

I'm glad you were able to attend and experience that. :)

Again, welcome to CF and to TAW! We are glad you've joined us! :)
