• CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
 • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

You were defending it by defending the post.
Which post? Mine? My post spoke against syncrenism. I spoke in favour of promoting mutual understanding in a way supported and enacted by the Catholic Church at the highest level. You need to stop equivocating dialog and education with sychrenism. One the Catholic Church supports in both theory and practice at the highest level, the other really is heresy.

Well no one convinces anyone on the internet. If you love islam I ain't going change your mind
You're convincing me of something.

I don't love Islam. I respect it in much the same way that Cardinal Arinze, 2 Popes and 2 Vatican II documents respect it.

I accidentally ran into this quote from Thomas Merton. It seemed appropriate:

I will be a better Catholic, not if I can refute every shade of Protestantism, but if I can affirm the truth in it and still go further. So, too, with the Muslims, the Hindus, the Buddhists, etc. This does not mean syncretism, indifferentism, the vapid and careless friendliness that accepts everything by thinking of nothing. There is much that one cannot "affirm" and "accept," but first one must say "yes" where one really can. If I affirm myself as a Catholic merely by denying all that is Muslim, Jewish, Protestant, Hindu, Buddhist, etc., in the end I will find that there is not much left for me to affirm as a Catholic: and certainly no breath of the Spirit with which to affirm it.

I don't respect evil of which islam is
If you have a problem with my position take it up with Cardinal Arinze, Cardinal Archbishop from Nigeria (a key country in Christian-Islamic tension) and previously head of the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue.

1 John 2:21-23 - I write to you, not because you do not know the truth, but because you know it, and know that no lie is of the truth. Who is the liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, he who denies the Father and the Son. No one who denies the Son has the Father. He who confesses the Son has the Father also.

Vs.

Surah 4:171 - People of the Book, do not go to excess in your religion, and do not say anything about God except the truth: the Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary, was nothing more than a messenger of God, His word, directed to Mary, a spirit from Him. So believe in God and His messengers and do not speak of a 'Trinity'—stop, that is better for you—God is only one God, He is far above having a son, everything in the heavens and earth belongs to Him and He is the best one to trust.

Surah 5:72–75 - Those who say, 'God is the Messiah, son of Mary,' have defied God. The Messiah himself said, 'Children of Israel, worship God, my Lord and your Lord.' If anyone associates others with God, God will forbid him from the Garden, and Hell will be his home. No one will help such evildoers.
Those people who say that God is the third of three are defying [the truth]: there is only One God. If they persist in what they are saying, a painful punishment will afflict those of them who persist.
Why do they not turn to God and ask his forgiveness, when God is most forgiving, most merciful? The Messiah, son of Mary, was only a messenger; other messengers had come and gone before him; his mother was a virtuous woman; both ate food. See how clear We make these signs for them; see how deluded they are.

Inasmuch as the Qur'an agrees with and reflects the same teachings as the Bible, I am thankful. I am thankful whenever mankind has any glimpse of the beauty and truth of God. That being said, I cannot read the above verses from the Qur'an and see it as spiritually good. John is clear in his view of those who deny the Sonship of Jesus Christ, and the Qur'an is clear in it's denial of the Trinity and Jesus being the Son of God. How is it not evil to say, "a painful punishment will afflict..." those who profess a belief in the Trinity and Jesus Christ as the Son of God and that those who profess such a belief will have Hell for their home? How is the very thing which St. John calls antichrist not evil? Does this mean all Muslims are evil? No! I believe many of them want to know God and serve Him, but the path they are taking is completely against the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Should we ignore and shun them? No, of course not! We should engage them in dialogue, but I cannot work of the basic assumption that Islam is good, given the above Scriptural contradictions.

Galatians 1:8-9 - But even if we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you a gospel contrary to that which we preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again, If any one is preaching to you a gospel contrary to that which you received, let him be accursed.

Good post.

 Agree.

That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Philippians 2: 8-11

That day will be wonderful. No Muslim or anyone will be left standing. And all shall confess Jesus is Lord. A glorious day! Seems to me God has to finally put his foot down, so to speak, to all who do not believe.

Praise to God, the Father and to Jesus Christ and to the Holy Spirit forever and ever...

Uh oh! Seriously, Christianity and Islam cannot be fused into one faith.
Isaiah 9:6 says
For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

This goes to our Lord Jesus who is and was to come. I mean, look here,

John 1:1...
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

followed by John 1:14...

The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

which is somehow linked with:
The Spirit of the LORD will rest on him--the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of power, the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD--

and Matthew 1:20
But when he had considered this, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, "Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife; for the Child who has been conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit

and then proven by:

Isaiah 7:14
Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.

Which clearly means that God spoke through the prophets through His Spirit which He then sent to the womb of Mary in order to become man and thus... giving the Lord access and speaking to people as a man (I think I intentionally put a trope here). However, the Moslems rejected the fact from the above that Christ is the Lord in flesh and that includes his Sonship of God. This is not nice at all. You cannot have two contradictory religions fused as one or else, it would be a breeding ground of heresies and false teachings which

Galatians 1:8
NAB's
But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach (to you) a gospel other than the one that we preached to you, let that one be accursed!

or NIV's

But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be eternally condemned!

and then what, Paul is even angry!
Galatians 5:12
I just wish that those troublemakers who want to mutilate you by circumcision would mutilate themselves.

Good job false teachers for making him angry with the power of the above. Ahem... This "merging" is highly irritating guys, I really do not like this at all.
