praying all is doing well...and that God is meeting your needs.
I start my new job tomorrow..am a bit nervous...I haven't been working for a few months b/c of health issues as you know...so it will be an adjustment.
Getting our home ready for winter and getting it really clean for going back to work so I don't have to think about it for awhile while I am adjusting to a new job.
Just be praying that I can learn what I need to with ease and that the adjustment time will minimal.
I will be online less but will be here touching base.....;o)

And I was planning to go apple picking this weekend! Instead I"ll do grocery shopping. My husband was right, why drive 2 hours each way to pick apples if you can buy them?

Just stopping by for a few minutes and read your posts on storing apples. Here's what I did once to keep apples fresh. I had picked and bought 100 pounds of them. We love eating fresh apples. The lady at the orchard had told me what to do to keep them and it worked for me. You need to do this with apples that are firm and don't soften easily, like Granny Smith, Gala, Arkansas Black, etc. Wrap each apple individually in newspaper, pack them in cardboard boxes or baskets, then store them in a place out of the weather where they won't freeze. You want it to be cool but not freezing. An unheated spare room, a storage shed, or garage, etc. Of course this will depend on the climate where you live. We were able to keep ours for months by putting them on the back porch and later in the storage shed. We didn't lose any. I have always wanted to do that again but have never gotten around to it. Hope this is helpful, if not for this year maybe for next.

Blessings,
Prom

Just wanted to stop by and say hello to all of you.

It has been tough working full time again, but necessary. People are beginning to shop the sales for Christmas and the store has been busy with a steady stream of customers checking out all day. I am exhausted at the end of the day, but hoping that will be better after a while as my body makes some physical adjustments. It takes a lot of patience to be a cashier and has given me a new appreciation for those who spend their days behind a register having to deal with every mood that comes along. God has given me grace to be cheerful in most circumstances, but it is difficult at times when I get really tired. You meet all kinds and most of them are pretty nice themselves, but when they get tired, they can be crabby too, and I am finding that even the nicest of people hate to wait, no matter the reason. :sigh:

Yes working in retail does have its challenges both physical and with customers...and holiday shoppers can be some of the worst...lol. Now that I am out of retail I will not miss those crabby customers..but will miss the ones who are always very nice and friendly. I will not miss working the holidays period!...lol
In time your body will adjust..meanwhile rest and message those legs and feet..it helps allot...;o)
Here and praying for you...

Thank you very much MOP! Somehow I ended up with lots of apples from the local nursery. I will do as you recommend.

When the boys were young, we took them to church alternative parties. We go in the back of the house if w e're home because I'm not used to buying treats and forget. Some years none come, but we''ve been caught.

I am sooooo cold. I 've been chilled all day. Son hasn't cleaned the sensor so we can't turn the heat on. No one's that cold but me. Guess I'll go tto bed and get warm

Amen to that Keep!

I'm sorry your cold Scoot. That is one of the worst feelings. I hate being cold. Hope ya get the heat on soon!

I don't really celebrate Halloween much anymore. I did as a kid, of course. But as the old lady I am today, I just hang around the house and eat cupcakes or something. Maybe watch an old scary movie or two. Speaking of Halloween, I went to the dentist today. :D I wore my bat earrings. I mean, in his waiting room, he had an urn that said: Ashes of Problem Patients. So I wore the bat earrings to keep him in line. I mean, he mighta thought I was a witch or something and would turn him into a toad. lol.

Here are the earrings:

Too funny, Migs.

Oh, yes, my youngest son was born Oct. 31, 1990, so we have cake and ice cream, often pizza.

My older son, Nathan, fixed the furnace. He was none to happy about it. I need to make him feel special. Any ideas how to bless a 17-year-old? I was better with little boys. These half men/half boys aren't my speciality, tho' I love'em to pieces.

It's good to hear from everyone. Scootermom, I'm glad your son could fix the furnace, maybe you could make him a special meal with all the things he likes including his favorite dessert as a thank you. Migs, that was just too funny "speaking of Halloween, I had a dentist appt.":D ^_^ It's Halloween alright, real scary! I never met a dentist I wasn't scared of.
Snowangel, I hope your feeling better soon.

We start moving tomorrow and it is pouring rain but it has to be done, so unless it clears up soon, we will be moving in the rain. Wish me luck and a few prayers would be appreciated.

Keep, where are you moving, another state, town or just another house? I must've missed something.

Yes, my sleep schedule is the pits, TJ. I have problems staying asleep at night. Then I get up at 6 to get my sons off. I often nap, but not w/o phone ringing. My body eventually demands a chunk of sleep, tho' usually not at the best times.

Thanks for the ideas. If he drove yet, I would take him to Golden Coral. He's a better cook, but maybe I'll buy him a steak to grill himself or just give him some money to blow. I seldom can do that.

We don't do much for Halloween either. When I tell you where we live you will understand. My husband is a caretaker/cremator and we live in a house in the cemetery where he works. So in short we don't get a lot of visitors on halloween. Even the kids in the neighborhood who are friends of my children don't trick or treat here.
I know you all will now have tons of questions about what's like to live here. The cemetery is older and it is beautiful in the spring and fall. My neighbors are quiet! :D

Have a great day
God Bless
Lynn

Hi njsisterinchrist, and everyone,I just found this forum the other day, after they changed the name of midlife Christians where I used to hang out, to Fabulous 40's. So thought I would jump in here at the end of this thread, hope no one minds?

I have always said that since I do not believe in Ghosts anyway, that it would not bother me to live next to a cemetary. At least no neighbor problems, which can be a real nightmare!

You might not think so, but I have found that many young people at this age really enjoy a special card that you write on telling them all the wonderful things that you appreciate in them. Some how it means a lot for them to get something in writing that they can return to later if they want to and the words aren't as easily forgotten as they would be if they were spoken. :)
