Guess everyone was busy today. So see you all tomorrow, maybe.

 Been very busy since I'm trying to get my mom set up to learn how to operate a computer. Sadly  I bought a brand spanking new computer and the monitor wouldn't power up. :help: I had to send it back and we're waiting for a new one. Meanwhile, she's reading the books so she'll be all ready when we get her up and running. She's amazing!!!

Good morning, glad to see everyone back.

TreysNana, sorry to hear your not feeling well. I have had a touch of the flu myself, not really sick just not feeling well.

Valentine, my dad bought his first comptuer when he was 75 and had never even touched one prior. I must say it was really interesting, the phone calls were something else. He did learn how to get around the internet and email, and it gave us something to talk about and I got to spend time with him, now that he is gone I really treasure that time.

My sister hands down her computers to my mom (she got the first one when she was about 70). It has allowed us (my 2 sisters and I live out of town) to keep in touch on a daily basis, which is really helpful now that my parents' health is starting to fail. Of course, since I live the closest (about 30 min. away), I am the one who has to fix her problems (none of which are ever the result of her actions  :D ). But those times when I have to repeat (for what seems like the bazillionth time) how to do something that she's just dying to know how to do -- all the while, I know she never will (like insert emoticons or change fonts, etc. :sigh: ), I just remind myself that these are moments (as aggravating as they are) that I will miss when she's gone.

Blessings!
Kathy

That is so true. I remember dad calling and asking how to do something and I would say go up to file and click and then there will be a drop down menu and he would say I don't have file on my computer  (so frustrating at the time, but I miss it now.)

 Thanks for the words of encouragement. My mom is really a sharp little lady and her remark to me that she felt "technology was leaving her behind" was what prompted me to get her a computer. I'm hoping :prayer: she has fun with it and enjoys herself. She's always been such a fine Christian Lady and a mom anyone would be proud to have. I credit her with setting a great example before me and am quite grateful for her prayers and the great training she gave to me. She took great care of my dad through his long (15 years) of illness and her dedication and love of him was unparalleled. I praise God for giving me such a fine mother.

I'm so sorry Whimsyjean. It is hard. I lost my dad 2 years ago this February and I lost my mom last August, still go to the phone to call and then realize there is no one there to call.
