Not a problem Gail Sis'

When I got myself banned...[on another site> back in 2005]
for providing evidence that site admin'
were contriving with some of the membership
to deceive the majority of the Forum members...
[with my own photographic screenshots]
My computer was repeatedly 'hit' with DOS attacks

I had-to study hard
to learn HOW-TO 'unpick the knots' these attacks repeatedly caused to my PC
and how to deprive external PC's of, all-access to my ports

I struggled over 8-9 months, to keep myself online
for longer than 2-3 days each week/month
But, I was determined to learn HOW I could beat these concerted efforts of others

Nowadays, when I 'BLOCK' a particular site'/ IP ...
my PC does not answer it's calls with an echo
and the site/IP cannot see my computer in the internet
My Yahoo inbox...
the one, from which I registered with the forums-site
then became aggresively attacked [by that 'site' [?]
It was spammed with porn and special medical offers_100's per day
I got so-tired of deleting everything that I let that mailbox lie fallow
after informing real friends, of my NEW 'ADDY'

My main email inbox, is HTTPS encrypted
and only 'contacts' enter my inbox _all else goes straight into the Spam Folder
where, I have now been blocking, not only the 'senders addresses'
but also the server that routes them to me

I do, only too well 'appreciate', just how difficult, such problems can be
to the computer novice/ and non-tech PC user

Prevention, is better [easier to achieve] than cure, is to effect

The biggest problem, is dealing with a computer, after the event
and, because we all of us WILL have set-up our computer differently

Thus, beyond clicking the START button [together]
we may even, see 'different screens/ display options'
making communication of fault-description 'unclear'
and advice-response... becoming uncopyable...on a 'page by page' process
iow: our seperate views of our desktops can be utterly different [in appearance]

ie: There is a great deal of difference between SP 2 & SP 3
windows START MENU and the Classic Start Menu 'View'
and directions GIVEN for the other, can mean, gobbledeegook being received
and not very helpful at-all
until helper and wounded machines use the same desktop views

I do not claim to KNOW all there is to know

But, if anyone is having problems at any time
with the running of a Windows-based PC there is every-possibility
that I have overcome the problem you are seeing, and may be able to help you overcome them also

If I do not know, HOW-TO help you [off the top of my head]
I will be able to give you links to pages with relevant information, and also
be there, to help you understand and implement recovery

Please, do not be 'reluctant' to PM me, you would be very welcome

We did [all of us] have-to START somewhere and, learn-how

If, you know someone, that is struggling with some STRANGE computer-behaviours [?]
Please do not hesitate, to point them in my direction
It is always better to deal with such things, as quickly as you can
so, to prevent the problem 'growing' [nip, it in the bud?]

Hi everyone....we had a planned power outage yesterday...it lasted about 3 hours...not long, but seemed long ...then when the power came back on the clocks in the kitchen needed to be reset...one was making a terrible beep...it took me 1/2 hour to figure out it was the stove not the microwave clock...

We are going out later to look at the supplies we will need to redo our bathroom...new tile and vanity....this house needs a lot of updating still. Things are crumbling around us...much has been on hold due to my health, but I am better...PTL.

Hello Ley,

It's nice to hear from you. I think that you missed out on several thousand posts. :D There will be a test later. Just kidding - I'm happy that you had a nice vacation, and I hope that the coming year will be more pleasant.

Thank you Tom. You are very kind. Yes, hopefully the coming year will be better but we are getting over a very recent bereavement at the moment :(

Thanks again Dave

Happy all went went Angelwind ~ have fun remodeling!
We did the whole house about 5 years ago :)

Continued prayers, Ley

We have done this house bit by bit...there was nothing at all in the master bath when we moved in...some floors were down to the bare concrete...the previous owner was remodeling and ran out of money...we bought here because I could keep horses on the lot...we still love the location, even tho the horses are gone.

Depending on the age/size of the house, it can really be involved and pricey.
We bought ours NEW 26 years ago, and it is just a 6 room ranch, so remodeling was fairly quick and easy (paint/carpets/some new furniture).
We didn't do the kitchen, but will need cabinets and appliances in the future.

I remember a similar game by a friend of mine named Gregged back in the day. I, along with others, loved that game. I am sure it will be loved by all. I look forward to it!

 Boy do I know what you mean :p

Stay and play a while :D
I am going to try my best.
I am very tired right now. We had to move again due to a faulty furnace in the old house, so we just got moved in here on the 22nd of November. But the landlord had a big stroke, and is unable now to do certain repairs that really need done. We've managed to get around some of the electrical work, but really need an electrician, and the windows all need replaced bad. I don't think they are going to be able to do it in the Spring as planned now, and dread facing yet another move. I am so tired..:(
I have surgery scheduled for the 20th of this month as well, and had to take incompletes on all the classes I am taking. So I do have six weeks to complete the work, however, still have to take finals next week! lol. eek! I am worn out
