  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

This may be a dumb question but how do I get it into paint?

Ok.... you find yourself a decent scene/ pic/ photo
and you right-click the pic and select Copy/ Save Picture As

now, in the left side panel, choose DESKTOP
in the filename bar, Type: a recognizable title/ apt description
in the filetype bar: choose GIF/ JPEG/ BMP

and click SAVE

you NOW have a 'copy' of the image on your desktop
NAMED; appropriately-enough, that you will find it easily

right click that file and select OPEN WITH
in the list choose PAINT

Paint will open with the pic displayed

now, resize it to 250 x 250 pixels
and save-it as the background to your avatar

click FILE then SAVE AS
DESKTOP ~filename 'avatar background' ~file type JPEG/ JPG

now, you will need to find a suitable 'doll'
'ie: a real photo or pic of you' or, any representative image
that you would like to use

you will will need to cut it away from it's present background
and SAVE AS a backgroundless 'Avatar'

This is easy... after... you have done it a few times
but, is usually, really strange and awkward initially

I will.... [one day soon..]
get around to posting
a 'step by step' including screenshots of, this process...
but I can tell you, that, you use the flexible selector
on the top left of the tool list [PAINT]
that you keep the left mouse-button depressed
as you 'draw'around the doll and release the mouse button
ONLY AFTER, crossing the start point of the selection

right-click the doll and choose COPY
now CLICK the bottommost tooltip
found in the left side pane tool-list

Select FILE
select NEW
asked to save changes to the original CHOOSE 'no'
select EDIT
choose PASTE

you will now see a white background/ maybe, lightly-chequered
this, is, your 'backgroundless avatar'

you can, use the eraser tool to remove bits and pieces
that, your unsteady hand had to leave behind

you can use the color-selector tool to copy an existing colour
and touch-up with a brush tool or, pen tool
for when you have hacked-off some of your doll
whilst using the flexible selector

now SAVE AS ~ 'avatar doll'

now, open 'two' [2] paint windows
and resize and position them
so that they, are side by side on your desktop

In one of the windows click FILE and then OPEN
and find BACKGROUND on your desktop
and open it

In the other click FILE and then OPEN
and find AVATAR DOLL on your desktop
and open it

your background must be no more than 250 x 250 PIXELS

when you have 'sorted' that

goto the DOLL window and click EDIT
select SELECT ALL
select EDIT then COPY
now, goto the 'background' window and click EDIT
select PASTE
your doll will appear in the topmost left corner OVER THE BACKGROUND
with your mouse-pointer hovering over
the bottom-right corner of the doll image
hold down the left button WHEN, you see a diagonal double arrow
now with the button still-depressed
drag the pointer upwards and to the left UNTIL your 'doll'
is reduced to the size you require and release the left button
again, press the left button to 'GRAB' the doll image
and holding down the left button
'DRAG' the doll into 'place' and, release the left button

Now, click EDIT choose SELECT ALL
click EDIT and select COPY
click FILE and select SAVE AS
enter 'New Avatar' in the filename bar
click DESKTOP in the left side pane
and click SAVE

Goto to your EDIT AVATAR in CF
click on DO NOT USE AN AVATAR [to clear out old-pic]
and SAVE THE CHANGES
Go back to EDIT AVATAR
click on USE CUSTOM AVATAR
and UPLOAD FROM MY COMPUTER
..search your desktop for 'New Avatar' and click UPLOAD
when, you see the avatar in the box above
leave the EDIT AVATAR area
and return to the forums
you SHOULD then, find the Avatar has been updated

dave

and drag the pointer down the background

i'm keeping warm the best i can. i have a little 8x8 inch marble slab i warm up and take to bed! yikes! but hey...keeps me warm under 3 blankets. supposed to be ONE degree here tonight.

I have been using my cloth rice bag to warm me up and ease my aches and pains. 2 minutes in the microwave does it. Haven't been around much I have discovered FACEBOOK so I am getting caught up with distant family and friends that way. I haven't forgotten CF though. Also being back to work after christmas break makes my time for computer stuff much more limited. Jan
