That is great Ariel I took your advice and have started eating more garlic and using supplements for the aches. I have read that Chicken soup is antiviral and decongestant and works better than other soups. I suppose of course any hot steamy soup should loosen the secretions. I had carrot/cashew/ginger soup for lunch with Whole grain bread YUMMM I especially like the gingery tang. Jan
While it is bitterly cold out this morning [23° F with a strong wind blowing] the Lord is here to warm all of our hearts and bring us closer to Him. Glory to God always!
It's pretty cold here, too. But the temperature has raised by ten degrees since I woke up at 6. And the sun is shining. It's going to be a glorious day that the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it!
Those words at time might seem a bit cliched, but think about them. Let us rejoice and be glad in this glorious day that the Lord has given us. He gives so much. So many gifts. The gift of life that encompasses everything!
Amadeus, I was thinking about your having lost your ring and how that could be very upsetting, but you said something about your wife offering the grandchildren a reward to find it. That in itself could be almost as memorable as what the ring stands for. How much fun it could be to watch them eagerly searching for Grandpa's ring! How much they will learn about the importance of commitment and love by simply looking for it! How much about the consideration of others!
Ah, the Lord, He does work in mysterious ways!![]()

Hello to you all, today at 6.19pm uk.
Update for you. I had almost started this on the Testimony thread, A testimony of help and an unexpected extra..as God speaks twice?
Yesterday evening, having collected advice on food and drink, from your posts, I went downstairs,
Sir (as we some times call hubby!) listened as I shared the "might help" items. He found a cup-a-soup packet, chicken, of course, it did help and even tweeked my appetite a little to having half a buttered roll with it.
This morning a lady had some books she had read, I was choosing some to buy at the princely sum of 50 pence each. When one title caught my eye:
I blinked and looked again:
Title:
CHICKEN SOUP for the SOUL. (2ND HELPING EDITION)
101 stories to restore your faith in human nature.
Quote "..shining examples of the best qualities we all share as human beings: compassion, grace, forgiveness, hope, courage, dedication, generosity and faith."
Chicken soup it is then, to recouperate in body and soul. Suppers are agua, with a taste of blackcurrent or peach. (water here a little bland)
101 to read!. Let the weak say, I am strong, so I am saying so..
God bless your sharings. Amen jean
I think Oatcakes sound like what we call pancakes or some call them flapjacks. Am I right? JanI recently added "Staffordshire Oatcakes" to the food thread and I have just come across this online article at bbc new, which I thought some of you might be interested in. It is about people trying to prevent the demolition of a tradional oatcake shop:
