I love karaoke but don't often go anymore. My hubby plays guitar and often we get togetherwith friends and have oldies sing alongs.

My trek to my friends cabin was a lot of fun especially for my son. He loved the ferry ride and eating out and sitting in front of the cabin window watching the waves and water and scenery. It was a bit cold to start as the cabin is powerless when unoccupied and the weather is wet and cold now; but with the help of space heaters and blankets we warmed up just fine. Just got home and plan on having a nap. It is just that kind of day I guess. Jan

The ground was covered with a blanket of frost this morning. It looked much like the first snowfall for the season. It was equally cold.

I guess the season change is about to happen.

Hi jim we actually had a few nice sunny/cloudy days. It varied. Yesterday was actually very sunny. Now we are back into the cloudy and showers. Hubby is busy trying to power off the roof and gutters. it is a big house so a big job and the mess on my decks OY VEH. Oh well I just am thankful that he comes down each time in one piece. I sure wouldn't want to be trying to stand up there wrestling with the power washer. I am sure I would come down quicker than the moss and slime.

Hi Jan. Oh the changeable Canadian weather this time of year. We had another blanket of frost this morning. Power washers are sure handy. I would be lost without mine.

Speaking of water; We lost our well water on Sunday. The pump decided it was tired of working. We had to drive to city, 40 miles off, to get a new pump, and then to find a plumber.....on Sunday! The plumber came by 10 Monday morning and installed the new pump, but he couldn;t get it to draw water. e quit working at 2m. He then said we would have to dig up the well opening, pull the 72 foot pipes out and sinoect for a leak in pipe or a defective footvalve. We looked forward to yet another day or two without water.

Lo, I remembered an old trick my father taught many years ago. I went to pump, tried it, and we had water instantly, thanks be to God.

Beforehand, I said to Mary, at least we have some bottled water on hand...She didn't buy any this week! Well, we can always flush the loo using water from the rain barrel...Hmmm, she emptied the rain barrel two days earlier for fear of freezing. Thankfully we have a chemical portable loo installed upstairs for "emergencies"...it was working! I managed to borrow some water so at least the dogs had water.

The simple things we take for granted...water!

Other than that, we had a great two days in so many other ways.

It's cold in West Texas, too, in the early AM. Down to the 40's. Then it warms up later, and we are back in the 80's.

I'm sorry to hear about your challenges with your water, Jim. That reminds me of my husband's parent's home in Pennsylvania. They had a well and a hand pump in the yard, but you had to remember to prime it. Of course by the time he took me there, the house was plumbed as well. A coal mining company was deep underground. A lot of times the water tasted and smelled like sulfur, from the mining operations.

It was hard to persuade myself to take a bath in that water!

So Jim I am a bit confused. it is early for me and I didn't sleep all that well but is your pump if fact NOW producing water. That is what it seemed like from that one line. (the old trick your Father taught you). If that is the case how marvellous if I misunderstand I know you will cope you are a survivor mate. Funny I was thinking about all my friend last night when I couldn't sleep and you came to mind. Have a wonderful day. Jan

I watched a movie on Saturday that has some scenes in Liverpool near the shipyards. The houseing was all joined together with little brick walls separating the small yards. It looked quaint. The movie was a muscial and contained only Beatles songs relevant to the story line. I enjoyed it. Jan

I watched two "chick flicks" on TV last night. Unusual for me, but I wasn't feeling well.

Both movies were awful.

What happened to all the great movies?
