• CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Anyone else feeling nostalgic here? I found the very first post of the chit chat thread, dated June 21, 2005 and it was made by Keeptrying. Here is the post:
Chit Chat

I could not find a topic to just chat in so I opened this one. I'm waiting for the car repair shop to open so I can have the muffler on my truck welded back up. I also need to go to DMV and get a new license but that will have to wait for another day---a good hair day for the picture. LOL I'll have to get my Flowbee out!
I took the dog for a walk this morning and missed the person I was suppose to meet. I think I was a little late and I don't have her phone # so now I feel guilty.
What is everyone else up to today? I do pray it is full of Gods blessings</DIV>

I vote we get back on topic here. I wonder what Keeptrying is up to? I know she still posts, I just never see her in the Golden Eagles forum. I wonder if she knows that her chit chat thread has been renewed four times over? What a hoot!

I agree! Excellent idea!
We are planning on a trip to the coast (Monterey Bay) with our grown kids and 2 of our grandkids next week! We are so excited! The grandkids are 3 1/2 yrs. (boy) and 7 months (girl). I remember how much fun my mom had planning vacations with my kids....now I know why! What is everyone else doing this summer?

 You're awesome, MommySue. I can imagine how much fun the trip will be because I am blessed to travel with my grandchildren from time to time. I'll never grow tired of hearing those ever pressing questions coming from the backseat of the car; Grandma, are we there yet? Grandma, have we had lunch yet? Grandma, what state are we in? Grandma, I have some new knock knock jokes! (Oh, dear Lord, spare me the knock knock jokes...:) )
I'm spending the summer watching over my little angels and although it is the hardest, toughest job I have ever had, and the lowest paying ;), it is wonderful.
I hope you have so much fun and take lots of pictures so you can show them to those babies when they are teenagers and embarress them in front of their friends.

Today I have been trying to pack for my trip with hubby to Mexico. I am sure I shall have to undo and repack several times. It seems I have trouble limiting the selections lol. and I don't want to have to pay extra weight charges as I am on a charter. I also pack for my adult disabled son as he goes to a respite care provider actually friends of ours. He is quite looking forward to hanging out there. Hey they have a pool. And ". Dave's a good cook" That is my sons comment as he was there last year when we went away. I have been booking hair appointments and doctor appointments going to the bank and picking up some free tickets for a football game for tomorrow etc.
Generally trying to get organized. That is tough for me. Oh did I mention I also found a sale and did a wee bit of shopping, it was nice. I ended up getting 30 % off at the till on the marked down price. I was budgeting on the sale price on the tag so it was a nice surprise. Well guess I should go and "carry on". Have a nice evening everyone. Jan

Oh yeah another thing about the sale, as the lady was ringing up the stuff a button fell off of a skirt Iwas purchasing. She then offered me another 10% off of that item. Cool eh? I didn't even have to ask. The button is already sewn on and the savings are in my pocket. :)

That reminds me of a friend of mine....every time she would find an unexpected sale on something, she would call it a "tither's" special. A gift from the Lord! I always thought that was cute!

I read today that the Field Sparrow is facing extinction. Mostly due to construction and destruction to their habitat.
I think we all need to live in tents.
Can you imagine the sparrow extinct?

and I know he watches me."

I thought sparrows were kind of numberless, kind of like ants. I'm sorry to hear that. We keep a bird feeder right out my kitchen window and most of the ones who visit are sparrows. I think anyway, how do they differ from finches?

No there are many different species of sparrow My mom always loved ones she called Song Sparrows. The birds that are indestructible it seems are starlings and Crows. At least where I live. I haven't seen as many Robins this year as previously. Jan

According to my books, the sparrow, all sparrows are from the genus passer, and the variety are legion in number. Virtually impossible to destroy.

If anyone has a shortage in their area, I can always box a few hundred and dispatch them.

By the way, ever see them bunch up on the pirate starlings? They do a marvellous job of driving them off.

Cheers,

Jim

Cool fact: Within northern populations of Song Sparrows, there may be both migratory and nonmigratory individuals. The decision to migrate is apparently an individual choice; it is not an inherited tendency. Once on wintering grounds, migratory birds mix with residents in loose flocks during harsh weather.

That's so interesting to know. It always seems that animals and birds are creatures of habit. Now I know that's not always the case.
I just know that birds seem to be the busiest and hardest working little critters around, other than ants.
They (birds) are also some of the most amazing creatures. No wonder they are allowed to fly and we're not. In fact, no wonder most creatures, man not included, are allowed the freedoms they have, such as flying, swimming, running. They don't mess up. We (men and women) mess things up for ourselves. So most of us have to be content to walk, even plod.
I know the other creatures we share this earth with have hard lives, but it's the only life they know, and oh I'll hush before I start not making any sense.

Good Morning All!!!

I'm off to town in just a little while. I have lots of errands to run while there. I will start out with a blood test (but then I get to have my coffee afterwards!) and a Costco run, my hair cut, see my dear friend (whom I have known since kindergarten!) then to Target to pick up fun things for our vacation next week with the grandbabies!!! It will be a busy but fun day. I hope everyone has a great day today also!

I am piviledged to live in a very rural urban area with lots of forested areas. I think I shared here about seeing a bear in my yard last week. Fortunately I was on this inside of the glass door. lol WE have lots of skunks I don't often see them but not hard to tell when theyare around. I used to not like them but apparently they eat rats which can be a problem here due to all the water and the docks etc. We used to see tons of racoons but then a huge distemper epidemic wiped out most of them. Their numbers are slowly rebuilding. Occaisionaaly a cougar is sighted. (Now theyare scary) and of couse coyotes. We had eagle poachers around not sure if they were ever caught but they were killing massive amounts of eagles for the feathers and talons. It broke my heart. Jan
