I would imagine China would want the relationship to be improved, since China apparently feared the US would attack them, in the waning days of the Trump presidency.

Though it is odd seeing another Republican talking point where they accuse Biden of contradictory things. Prior to this report, Republicans claimed that Biden was "in bed" with the Chinese and had been paid millions to be their "lap dog." Yet for some reason, that narrative has taken a 180 degree turn, in that the Chinese don't like Biden, that he can't get a summit because he doesn't have a close relationship with them.

I've noticed that consistency isn't a strong point among most of the Republicans who complain about Biden. You even demonstrated that the right-wing narrative about him tends to change with the tide.

Uh that is true for both sides. August 2020 liberals were saying they would not trust a Covid vaccine that Trump rushed through, a year later they not only trust it but want to force the vaccine shy folks to take it against their will.


By the way the same was true with complaining against Trump. 1st he is too unhinged and "might start a war" (who unlike other recent presidents including Obama he did not do), but when we actually does have positive relations to hostile powers that also is a bad thing. That boggles the mind especially when it came to Russia and all the Obama outreach to Putin, but you often cannot expect honesty and sincerity from politicians.

China will be using Trump as an excuse to do whatever they want for the next few decades. On the one hand, there are the legitimate arguments that in another four years another random like Trump might be voted in, or his supporters might divide the country to the extent that it no longer functions as a state in the same way. On the other, they will milk the lunacy of electing Trump as long as they can - any challenge to Chinese action can simply be countered with we cannot trust you/take you seriously because Trump.
