  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

(Jennie) I think your hair looks great in that pic.
I think it does too. But it's funny that that's always the first thing I look at when I see a picture of myself, also. Must be a chick thing.

You make a very nice-looking couple.

Cristianna, I noticed that you have an icon "lost baby." I don't think I'll do that . . . but it's interesting, and nice to have the option to acknowledge.

Gotta go. Picking up the oldest from band camp today, three hours away. It's been a quiet week without her!!

Jenny, I think a lot of us have looked at old pictures of ourselves and cringed at the hair style, or the clothes. I know I have.

I wasn't aware of that icon. Thanks for mentioning it.

My hairstyle was the same from Kindergarten right through till hmmm.... I think my hair is just shorter now. I remember hating my mom braiding my hair, but it did not look bad.

As for outfits that I wore. I remember being so proud of the orange skirt my mom made for me when I was 10. Orange was my favorite color. Good thing it looked good on me. Another outfit I was proud to wear was the dress my mom made out of pink towels for my grade 7 graduation. I hate pink, but I was proud to wear that dress. No pictures were taken because I don't think we could afford film at the time. I still maintain that I was the best dressed girl there though.

Just pointing out that I am one of the odd ones.

I have the icon due to terminating a pregnancy as a very young teenager. I'm sure many wouldn't agree and would like to presume it's due to miscarriage or something more along that nature.

Young and dumb, misinformed, pressured and completely confused and lost I caved to the demands and manipulation of others in fear of the can of worms I would open if I didn't. But the bottom line is, it was still a child.

How are you doing today Pete? And of course everyone else. :)

Young and dumb happened to all of us, just some had to deal with more.

So true!

So what's the inspiration of your character? Are you on a date walking the shore? Are you a movie character? It looks awesome-- wish I was there! ^_^
Our 30th anniversary is on Monday.

When Richard and I were dating we would go to the beach. We did not take a honeymoon but the morning after our wedding we went to the ocean and had dinner at White Spot, then we went beachcombing for rocks and shells.

I am not expecting anything this year. My mom is going to be spending the week with us, my brother is already staying with us. Oddly enough rather than stress us, we are talking more. Long story, but when we did this same thing for Richard's brother it just about did in our marriage completely. It was a very hard decision to help out my brother.

Oh my! Did I miss all of this somewhere? You have one heavy load on your plate. Praying for all of you.
No you didn't miss it. I have been to summer camp and been involved in a day camp and just too busy to post much. Even now I should be re-arranging the basement to accomodate my oldest son, but here is the story.

My brother checked into rehab on the Canada Day weekend. He was then put on a bus to a Christian farm near here for a 6 week program. Turned out the program was more like 6 months and there were more ins than outs. My brother was using crack, beer, smoking and he is addicted to caffeine. He was expected to give up all of these without any aids. For example, no patch or gum for nicotine. Then they were expected to act like they were believers. Out loud prayer every day.

Ok, I don't have a problem with any of this, but when you take a non-believer the idea would be to teach, not dump them in head first and see how long they can hold their breath. My brother has a short God capacity. He blames God for our childhood.

Anyway, my thoughts were that if he goes back to his home he will be back on the streets again with a bottle in hand. So he is here. He is a good worker on our farm. We are paying him by paying his outstanding bills. It took him about two weeks though and he started wandering away in the evenings. We live 10 km out of town so it took him a week more before he found the road into town. Once he found that, he started picking up bottles and cashing them in until he had enough for beer. Some nights he comes back with beer and avoids me. Last night he came in with a pepsi and a chocolate bar. :tutu:

The other day he commented casually that when our mom gets here then he has to put up with her "holier and thou" attitude. Perfect opportunity! I came back right away with "If you have something to feel guilty about then she is holier than thou."

Our mom is a Christian and always trying to share her faith. Just like in a UY situation, we have seen her shortcomings. We know her guilt and unless we understand the origin of sin itself, it is hard to hear her through what we know. And then she is just like any other mom who tries to guilt you into things.
BTW, I think I have been guilted. I may be going back to my mom's (7 hr drive) to move some furniture for her.

Cristianna, I also am sorry for your loss. We all have done things we wish we had not done. Comes with being human and repentant. I appreciate your honesty.

Annette, as usual, life around your home sounds extremely busy. You seem to never be short of challenges, or rather, opportunities to influence the lives of others.

Hi Pete. Glad you got some time off today. You don't work Saturdays, do you?

DD turns 15 Sunday. We'll be celebrating tomorrow by taking her and some of her friends out to eat. Record-breaking heat the last few days, but it finally cooled down. Another 3 weeks and it will start turning cooler for fall.

Thanks to those who responded to darkwing, as well as to irishman. It means a lot to people when someone responds to their posts.

Jill, any change in your Dad's condition?

I need to go run some errands.

Thanks Wayne!

Although as I have been posting in the Ministry Reports, it seems that some of the members here think I have some sort of affinity with witches!

for those of you that are interested in what I have had to face for the past year or so check out this thread:

Pete
Wow. I don't know all the details (nor do I want to), but it sure doesn't look fun. :(

So do you think ministry here is similar to ministry in churches, in that you may be attacked at every turn?

I am ready to leave what used to be CF. I want to be part of a Christian community and now the direction of this forum provider is too obvious.
What was that Christian website someone mentioned before as an alternative? I didn't write down the link.
