So Paul is saying that speaking in a foreign language is ok. And he clarified that you better have an interpreter handy otherwise it'll only be God yer speaking to and not any of your brethren.

I don't see how any of your postings support Babbleonian talk.

I didn't say it did , but the statement I reproved was the one that 100% of the tongues in the bible was a known language. no man knoweth what you said But God, this is not a known lanuage, that paul was talking about a language that no man knoweth, you then said you absolutely agreed.

some people take a good thing and take it too far where as it is not good any more, some will do it with salvation, we got homosexuals pastors, we got adultery all in the Church! in the Body of Christ. and some misuse tongues and prophecy, but that does not make all of it wrong. Paul gave the Church glidelines in using tongues. and when I go to a church and they are being misused , I will point it out to the pastor, and Beleive or Not. most say well that is the Holy Ghost causing them to do that, and He is God so He can do what He wants, And I will tell them right up front, Yes the HOly Spirit Is God, and that is the very reason He won't go against the Word of God. God can't do what He wants for He can't lie. And if He goes against His Holy Word Then He lies.

Yes it's preaching prophecy. Which counts as prophesying. Tell me, what are the people prophesying in you're church this week? anything interesting. Anything thats not in the Bible?

Again, how does any of this support talking gibberish?

I got no problems with scriptural prophesying or dreams...and there will certainly be some vision to behold in the endtimes.

Wheres the ridiculous behaviour that goes on in Pentacostal / Charismatic churches in scripture?

Well I saw vision and through that Vision I gave Word to the Pastor, that his decision on a new building would come down to three buildings, and that the most appealing one would not be the right one. While I was telling this to someone else the Holy Spirit spoke to them and said that the one downtown was the right one, and I call the pastor and told him and he said that had just looked at a building right on mainstreet.

as far as the ridiculous behaviour in Chruch you think things might have been a little ridiculous, when the disciples were accused of being drunk :
Acts 2:12-15
12 And they were all amazed, and were in doubt, saying one to another, What meaneth this?
13 Others mocking said, These men are full of new wine.
14 But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto them, Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my words:
15 For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day.

I think most of these TV preachers who get up there and say things like "roshumba ra ta ta" and that kind of thing are just doing that to show off. They aren't saying anything.

You think?? and how do you know they are not saying anything, are you sure?? or if they are being lead by the Holy Spirit to say "roshumba ra ta ta" and you say that they are just showing off, is this you speaking Bad of the Holy Ghost or just you speaking bad of another part of the Body of Christ??

If you are standing around a group of people and speaking a foreign language then no-one can understand you. Any one who COULD understand you is not present, and anyone who IS with you doesn't speak the foreign language. So only God can understand you're speach at that time. It's not about babble and gibberish/...//

Give me an example of when 'tongues' has been taken too far in you're church please. Tell me the details. Where is the line drawn exactly?

An accusation from an unbeliever is not an accusation at all. For they are all liars. In any event the apostles in Acts were speaking KNOWN tongues to the masses gathered there. Or do you deny this?

1 Corinthians 13:1
"If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal."

If you hear someone talk or sing and remark that they 'have the voice of an angel'....what does it mean?

Also what is the meaning of 'Angel'?

A messenger.

Voice of a messenger?

A teacher....a prophet....someone who speaks well and true from the Word of God.

Not talking gibberish.

Am I not included in the number of NO MAN , for I am present, if I am standing in that group you speak of, I am there . so I would also be in that Number "that no man understandeth" . if it is an UNKNOWN Tongue to any there including me, I don't know the language, no one does, then that is still a gift of tongues, I mean If I speak in spanish and I don't know spanish then Praise God That is still a miracle from God, why would you claiming to be of God, try and take away from a miracle of God and give it to the Devil. And let's look at the double miracle of even your scenario, If I speak in a unknown tongue by your definition, I speak spanish, when I don't know spanish now by your bibical interpretation, no one in the room could speak spanish or even understand spanish, so according to you that would qualify it as a unknown tongue at that church/at that time. Praise God, For not only did God provide me the gift to speak that tongue, He also provided the gift of interpretation to the one that interpreted, and they didn't know spanish either , for if they had it would not be an UNKNOWN TONGUE!!! Praise God.

Sir I never said that tongues had been taken too far in my Church I like the you guys not only twist scriptures but twist most things what others say that you disagree with. I said some will take anything to far, people take tongues to far when they go against scriptures , for if tongues are used in church there must be an interpreter.
1 Corinthians 14:26-28
26 How is it then, brethren? when ye come together, every one of you hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation. Let all things be done unto edifying.
27 If any man speak in an unknown tongue, let it be by two, or at the most by three, and that by course; and let one interpret.
28 But if there be no interpreter, let him keep silence in the church; and let him speak to himself, and to God.
KJV

Sir would you please inform me of anyone you know that speaks in the angelic language, for Paul also said :

1 Corinthians 13:1
13 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.
KJV

try an twist this up for me please!!

Scholars notes on the Bible explains you're 'unknown tongues' verse with minimum fuss. (which in the Greek doesn't even mention the word 'unknown' in fact, it just says tongues)

Barnes' Exposition:

"For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue - This verse is designed to show that the faculty of speaking intelligibly, and to the edification of the church, is of more value than the power of speaking a foreign language. The reason is, that however valuable may be the endowment in itself, and however important the truth which he may utter, yet it is as if he spoke to God only. No one could understand him."

Gill's Exposition:

"For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue,.... Or with tongues, as some copies and the Ethiopic version read: Dr. Lightfoot thinks, that the Hebrew tongue, which was become a dead language, and understood but by few, is here meant, and that not without reason; seeing the public prayers, preaching, and singing of psalms among the Jews, were in this languages (x); in imitation of whom, such ministers, who had the gift of speaking this language, read the Scriptures, preached, prayed, and sung psalms in it, which were no ways to the edification of the people, who understood it not; upon which account the apostle recommends prophesying, praying, and singing, in a language that was understood"

You said "some misuse tongues......when I go to a church and they are being misused , I will point it out to the pastor". I was wondering what you meant by that. When will you report to you're pastor? How do some people in you're congregation 'misuse tongues'?

If you just mean that they don't have an interpreter, then do you have an interpreter when someone is speaking gibberish? Who is the interpreter? How many are there?

I already explained that in the previous post. Angel means messenger. Speak like a messenger/teacher. Or speak in a godly/angelic manner.

I believe in Godly speaking in tongues.
because there is a devil and he tries to counterfit it
and in the counterfit,he gives false tongues.example those are like hypnotize and those who have no control of thier tongues those are false tongues.
We can control our tonguesand the Holy Spirit is not the aggresive Spirit but a gentle spirit

Lot of good stuff there.

GOD didn't somehow change His mind and take back the gifts that He gave His church, He's just not going to do that.

Self control is a fruit of The Spirit, so a person operating in the gift of tongues would obviously want to keep things between them and GOD unless they had a ministry of that gift in the assembly, and was prompted to speak a message by the will of The Holy Spirit.

Other than that, we are not to give an exhibition of our gift before folks, it remains between GOD and us. That's the sort of self control we are to to maintain with this gift.

Why do you keep dodging the question?

You said you have seen the gift of tongues misused in church and notified the pastor. So what did you notify the pastor about? How were tongues misused? I dont care if it was your church or a different one. The fact that you notified the pastor made me assume it was you're church naturally.

So....whats the answer?

and as far as the angels and the UNKNOWN tongues, if that is the way you want to twist go ahead that's on you, not me!!!

It's a perfectly valid interpretation. Look up any notable Bible commentary and they say the same thing.

are you any kin to minstrytony?

cause he will ask a question then not read your answer, and then accuse someone of DODGING(LOL) the question. I have already answered your question, there is guide in the Bible on UNKNOWN TONGUES being used in the Church, if you have tongues in church there has to be an intrepreter.

Absolutely agree with all of that..

Talking gibberish and running around in church behaving like buffoons is unblical. Pauls last words on the matter were:

1st Corinth 14:40 Let all things be done decently and in order.
It should be noted that not all Pentecostals act as you are describing...you can find zealots anywhere...of course, I don't expect you to see anything differently by my saying this...but you can't base all of us on a few youtube videos or maybe a visit to your local Pentecostal church. . .

Fact is you havn't answered my question straight.

I'm guessing by your dancing around that you are saying you're report to a pastor was because 'tongues' was being used without an interpreter. Is that correct?

So on those occasions where you felt you had to make a report was it with foreign tongues or with gibberish?

And was it your church or a different one that this misuse occured in?

If you could just give straight answers without all the attitude and defensive posture that would be helpful. :)

Doc.

Nice to know bigdrew but its a heavy indication though isn't it? That something may be desperately wrong in that particular denomination.

So you dont have any disorderly conduct in you're church?

No running around....flailing of arms....uncontrolable laughing....stage shows of signs and wonders...people falling over etc?

After reading this entire thread, all I can say is...cessationists are silly...they believe God's word is the only thing to stand on...yet deny truths from it.

lol

Speaking for myself..yes I think God's Word is the only thing to stand on and I deny 'truths' derived by fallible men based on the Word....which are usually in error. Best to stick with scripture eh?
