  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

In the News, Obama supports baggy pants. Says no law against them.

It is sad that America is going more and more downhill quicker and quicker. People have no respect for themselves much less authority any more.

If my boy ever shows up on my doorstep and is wearing baggy pants I will personally tell him to come back when he can dress more modestly. There is nothing modest about having your pants sagging so low that your underwear is showing.

And the so-called President elect is disgusting when he thinks there is nothing wrong with such disgusting dress style.

Sadly, it will only get worse. Because those who want to see what is decent don't matter anymore. America is in for a sad future the next 4 years under a man who does not care what kind of image its citizen's portray.

We will soon look so disgustingly poor that third world countries that have next to nothing will be more appealing than the United States.

You're right, he should be protecting freedom by forcing everyone to dress like it's 1950!
...seriously, what's wrong with you? You're whining because Obama won't outlaw baggy pants?
The Word of God tells us to dress modestly. Obama's statement proves even more that he is not interested in godly decisions.

Nothing at all wrong with me.

When I was young, people told us that tight pants were immodest. Old people then, wore baggy pants. Now, old people are wearing tight jeans, and are claiming baggy pants are immodest.

I think I see a pattern here...

Ugh, you're one of those.

People can dress however they like. If you don't like the baggy pants style (as I don't), then look away and don't partake in it. You do have the authority to control how your child dresses, but you can't impose that on everyone else through the law.

Boo fascism.

I have a neighbor who has found a pretty good solution for this problem: when he sees a young man wearing his jeans belted below his derriere, he stops to talk to him. My neighbor asks the young man if he knows where the practice first originated and what it signifies. When the young man says no, my neighbor tells him that it was originally a practice in prison which was meant to signify that the wearer was "available" to other inmates.

He says most young men promptly pull up their pants. :D

Actually, Obama did not say he supports it - he just said he doesn't agree with making laws against fashion. If you read down, further in the article he does state that young men should pull up their pants.

All of those who are being snide about the OP starting this thread - you're being every bit as silly, don't you think? What important matters are you concerning yourselves with as you post in this forum? What world change are you effecting? What are YOU doing about our embattled economy?

I don't know about anyone else on here - but when I read and post in this forum I don't exactly expect to change the world, nor do I expect anyone else to do so. It's just a place to share your opinions.

And, again I don't know about everyone else's lives, but in my own the fact that we have a recession going on and two wars and countless other major problems does not in any way, shape or form change the fact that there are things that I deal with in my everyday life that range from seriously concerning to minorly annoying. And I occasionally kvetch about them, even knowing that there are many people dealing with much bigger problems.

I must sign off now - I have to go engage in mid-level peace talks with warring nations. Really.
