It all sounds very exciting and I'm looking forward to seeing the upgrade in action. Thanks for all the hard work, everyone, and to the folk redoing the coding and everything. :)

I have a few questions.....

Will our guestbooks be affected/changed in any way?

Will our blog threads remain as they are now?

Will there be a place to transfer the html part of our homepages either to the new profile page or elsewhere in CF, cos my homepage has been a way of expressing my love for God to others and I'll be rather sad if it becomes completely defunct in the new CF.

Will the timing thing re giving reps be altered so that we can choose when to gift them at any point within the day, rather than the schedule under which they operate at present?

Will rep comments remain private as they are now?

Thank you.....I appreciate the work which so many of you are putting into the upgrade and may the transition flow smoothly.

Yes.

Not nailed down.

Not nailed down.

Probably not.

Yes, as far as I know.

The guestbooks will change to a new system ... not sure of the details, but I believe that you will be able to reply to posts there..
Your old guestbook will be imported, so you won't lose anything.

Will our blog threads remain as they are now?

There will be a new blog system, but again, your current blog will be merged so you don't lose anthing.:)

I think that you will be able to upload this, but save it before the site goes down on Sunday, as I don't think it will be automatically transferred.

I don't think so.
But... they last for 24 hours, so you can use them at any time...
Will rep comments remain private as they are now?
yes

Amen!

ETA...
Richard beat me to it. It's reassuring that we seem to agree :p

The tech guys are telling me, it should be a one time deal when we changeover. Of course, there are always unknowns and other bug fixes, but generally those are the types of things that can occur in the background. This upgrade otoh, is a complete rewrite of pretty much everything top to bottom.

Uhmmm... we'll keep our rep points, our blessings, our post counts etc. ?????

yup :)

Oh and ... will this change affect/delete our private draft section? If so, I'll safe all that i have there to my own compu!

Private drafts will be moved across, no problem. :)

(K, this is technology... so you can save them just in case if you think it's a good idea! :p)

MN and Criada & RM,
We've asked this question on another thread but maybe MN knows the answer.
Will blessing others anonymously be available like it is now?
Will it be possible to purchase something and send it either known or unknown to the recipient?
Thanks and God bless!

Easer Solution.
Go to each page, then save the page in a directory for your archival.
You'll wan to save your Main Page, Bank, Job, Pets, And each Page of the CF Characters.
You may also want to export your PMs (Save as XML,CSV or Text)

You can view all your subscribed threads at http://christianforums.com/subscription.php?do=viewsubscription&folderid=all & save that page if you wish.

Sounds simple enough, but how do I do all of that? (Yes I do know a few things about computers, but not everything.) So can you explain how to do that.
I'm not too worried about the thread subscriptions. Don't usually subscribe to any. I know which ones I go to all the time so I'm not worried about that.

Just mostly wondering about my Armory items. The PM's, I need to go through and get rid of some of them anyway. The ones I absolutely want to keep I can always just copy and paste into a Word document and save them that way.

Full upgrade with new software

(Think going from Win98 to Vista ;) :ebil: :D )

Please NO! Anything but Vista! I have it and wish I could go back to XP. According to my hubby the last good, stable version of Windows was 98. But to each their own. I personally prefer XP. IMHO.

Ok, sorry for going off topic there a little...
