CF Singles Awards: 4th Edition Discussion Thread

I like to say I never meant helping because I thought she was cheating but because I wanted too help. To take the pressure off and be more involved.

Also to make it extra clear (for those who really did not read the discussion) I was not hostile towards anyone. If I really wanted to give an opinion I would but I like to save that for the creativity of the awards.

I only picked out the ones in the previous year list you posted.

I think I still like list #2 the best, but I really liked Amber's list as well.

Mine isn't a list though. Like, I don't think that should be the Official Category List of The 4th CF Awards. I just lumped all the categories I enjoy voting for together.

I haven't read all the categories, but if the awards do go on, I really don't like the "Most likely to be single another year" category. I personally wouldn't mind being voted for in this category, but I feel others could get hurt by it... no?

I mean... most people struggle with this. It's like saying... "Hey, guess what? I think you're going to remain single this year and the next."

Just my thoughts. If everyone else likes it, well then fine by me.

I see your point. I thought it was a fun one to invert the "most likely to get married" one but if the majority would find it offensive, I vote to get rid of both of them.

I think that everyone wants to have a great award ceremony. I know that in past I, and many others have enjoyed it. So, it only makes sense that others want to join in and even be a part of the creation. Multiple award creators. Multiple Tally’ers. I can see so many CF’ers jumping at a chance to join in the CF Award Committee (The CAC )

However, I do understand why Jennie would feel attacked and upset. In the past she has worked really hard and has a few times been met with comments about the ballots being miscounted and people questioning her for cheating. So, perhaps the suggestion of multiple Tally’ers implies that we really don’t trust her and now need to double check her work. I have a big feeling that wasn’t the intent of Ethnog or any of those who suggested helping with the ballots and awards. But I just bring this up because it’s the first thing that popped into my mind, and so I wonder if it crossed Jennie’s mind as well. And if that’s the case, maybe understanding each other would help us settle this quicker

It wouldn't shock me if the reason people are pushing for another tally person is because of suspicion of cheating. CFers are a paranoid lot.

I don't think a second tallyer is needed but I also don't think it would hurt the process to have a second hand in it. I would say that I think it is completely stupid to exclude the tally people from being voted on though. This isn't the fate of the world people, its CF. And those who put effort into the CF Awards obviously want to participate in them and care enough that getting award would mean something to them.

At this point, I don't think Ethnog is the right person to help tally the votes though. Too much nonsense has gone on in this thread and although it wasn't at all Ethie's fault, I think that if it comes down to it, a more neutral third person should be chosen.

That is if Jennie is willing to compromise and include a second person to tally. If she decides that this issue is her deal breaker then I vote we not have CF Awards in October and try again at the 1 year mark. It comes down to the fact that Jennie is the one who came up with the idea, implemented it and has put most of the effort into it. By rights, she gets to make the call for this issue. Now, she has a responsibility as a friend and Christian to run these awards in a God honoring way but at the end of the day, its still not right to try and usurp her role.

When I really wake up I'm gonna look at the categories again cause there were so many I lost track and focus of the list. Of course if we still have the awards.

Hi guys and gals

So after some much needed time and thinking I decided to make this post.

Last night I did not mean I was done with the awards, I meant I was done going around in circles with what was to be done concerning the awards and everything that goes with it.

Anyhow, I will be doing the tallying this time, like usual it makes no sense (to me) to have a 2nd tallier. If that was the case we would have to split up who we were going to PM and whomever was my 2nd tallier would have to tally half and PM me their tallies, then I would have to add those to mine.

If I just completely hand it over to someone else to tally the whole thing I have to worry that they'll get busy in RL, quit, or miss votes and I'll have to do extra work at the last minute.

Anyhow, this is a done decision. I've read everyones opinions on the subject.

Also I am leaving it up to the voters on whether or not to vote for me in categories.

Let's move on to categories. We're almost at 16 pages and have gotten nothing accomplished!

Which I actually I 2nd it. But theres 48, so I wouldnt mind either making it an even 50, or cropping it down to 40 or 45.

If I was going to make it a 50, I'd add CF King & Queen and Best Chef. Becauseee even though I know we havent gotten to taste everyones cooking, we have seen some of the foods the CFers have made and lemme tell ya I've seen some yummy things. lol

But if y'all really dont want CF King & Queen maybe we could add Most Helpful, or something.

I don't understand why anyone should have been offended by anything in this thread really. There was maybe one person who was a bit harsh but everybody else tried to explain in a polite manner what they thought about the whole process and what could be improved.

I know receiving critique on something that is your own or something you've come up with is really hard at first, but being able to acknowledge something you've done could have been done better or at least differently will really help you out a lot in the long run.
Critique is good, someone else might spot something that you didn't notice. You don't have to agree with all critique and some critique is just complete crap but there can be some good points in the middle of it that could be of great value.
Getting all defensive about criticism hardly ever helps, because people who are honestly just wanting to help will completely lose that motivation and probably won't help in the future.

I'm not really criticizing anything here I'm just pointing out that people who do give criticism hardly ever mean to hurt you in any way and just want to help.
Try not to take criticism personally, because it's not.

Also I really like Ethies ideas about the I'll be back award and Make my day award. They could be explained as someone who repeatedly comes back to Singles, and for the make my day award for the person who makes your day, brightens it, etc.
