  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Thanks everyone. I stop to look at his picture in here and bust out crying again. :(
He was being handsome for the picture. I told him to sit and be a good boy. So he put on his 'suavest' look and posed.

Taken 11 months ago.
Have to find his outdoor picture i took a couple months ago...

But i probably wont post it...i would have to see it. My heart is all kinds of messed up tonight. [My niece]

Haven’t Left At All

I saw you gently weeping as you looked through photographs
You paused for just a moment at one that made you laugh.

But as you turned more pages the tears began to flow
You whispered that you missed me but I want you to know;

I softly licked those stinging tears that down your cheeks did fall
I want to help you understand I haven’t left at all.

On those days that you are overcome with sorrow, pain and grief
I rest my head upon your leg to offer some relief.

When you take our walking path I’ve seen you turn around
Because I know you surely heard my paws upon the ground.

At night while you are sleeping I snuggle at your side
You stroke my fur as you touch that place where I used to lie.

You said it’s just your heart playing tricks upon your mind
But rest assured I’m really there, my spirit’s left behind.

I know your heart is hurting; it’s like an open sore
You think my life has ended and you won’t see me anymore.

But for those of us bound tight by love, death is not the curtain call;
It’s really the eternal beginning that waits for us all

So as you live your life I patiently await
For us to be together when you pass through Heaven’s gate.

My wife and I are so sorry to hear your sad news.

Dogs are such special companions and give so much unconditional love.

We have been through this and we found that the only way we could cope was to get a new dog as soon as possible, they never replace our past dogs but they do help fill that big aching hole in your heart.

Remember the fun and happy times, he was a God given gift.

Praying for you.

God Bless.

Did not sleep well again. I got up [again] at 4 am. He howled every morning at 4 and woke me up and i would go back to sleep. Couldnt get back to sleep the past few mornings.

I dont think i can do another pet. I saw a beautiful husky in my dreams last night. But i dont think i can handle doing 'THIS' again.
I have never had a pet that grew old. Somehow fate takes them when they are still so young. SERIOUSLY - i cant take it.

Also, Dasher doesnt seem replaceable. He so loved other animals.
He didnt hurt anyone or anything. Not even the chickens who he slept with.

Eternal Father, we bring you our grief in the loss of Dasher and ask for courage to bear it. We bring you our thanks for Dasher who lived among us and gave us freely of his/her love. We commit our friend and companion Dasher into your loving hands. Give us eyes to see how your love embraces all creatures and every living thing speaks to us of your love. Amen.

Dogs bring us so much unconditional love--I know how hard it is to lose a beloved pet, although I have never lost a pet so suddenly and tragically.

But my friend's little dog was carried off by a coyote a few months ago, and it was heartbreaking for all of us who knew him. Such a lively, spunky little fella.

Prayers for you.

From me, too...The loss is one reason I don't want to have another furry pet. I had fish, and was bad enough when we'd lose one of them, though my wife was worse. I've been blessed with good pets, no more.

He slept with chickens?

My dog thot everyone was his friend. He was generous and protective of all the critters who live here. They will miss him too. In fact they have been acting jittery since he has been gone.

My chicks eventually got taken by something. I heard him going nuts outside one night but by the time i went outside whatever it was left - with the chicken and he had a shock collar so he wouldnt chase them.

On a couple ocassions i would come in the morning to see him [his dog house is right next to the back door. First Big Momma would pop out of the dog house and then he would...him looking rather sleepy. Probably because chickens make clucking noises thru the night [some do] kinda like snoring i guess.

Even Thursday night when we pulled up after Mass - 10 deer were sleeping in the front yard and he was sleeping just a little above them on the hill.

He loved critters - one time he got porcupine needled in the face for probably getting too close and friendly. That was last summer he got surgery.

Oh that's terrible. We have coyotes here too and without the dog, the cats are now targets.
Could be why they are so jittery now.
So sorry to hear about the little dog.I hate coyotes.

I found out today that Dasher left each morning [on time] to get to the school bus station to greet the drivers.
Then he made his way home again.
This is where he was hit - evidently waiting for his buddies - he must have trusted the driver would stop.
 Because ya know....he loved people and thot the world was his friend. He even liked the mailman. Who loved him.

I dont think i can replace this kind of dog..big gentle lug.

However; my first golden retriever was just as gentle and sweet - a little less hyper than Dasher - but sweet and kind to critters.
Poo Poo - our affectionate name for the first dog i had years ago - found a dead momma rabbit and picked up each baby one by one and took them home and placed them on the front porch to save them.

I tell you - if you want a smart loving sweet tempered dog - you cannot lose with a retriever. :)

I tried 4 times to raise one to old age. MY favorite kind of dog ever - i just cant seem to do it.
Maybe i raise them too friendly and gentle.
