  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Just wanted you to know that Pet Loss Grief Support Center (Pet Loss Grief Support, The Rainbow Bridge Poem, Monday Candle Ceremony )
has a weekly Pet Loss Candle Lighting Ceremony.

It's a compassionate website for pet lovers grieving over the death of a pet (or its illness).

I have always believed that a grief shared is halved. I hope it is at least "halved" for you (although I know that right now it feels like a terribly empty hole left in your heart.) :hug: :hug:

Oh I'm so sorry WA. (((hugs)))

I'm so very sorry. Pets are very much indeed like family members.

And I don't care what anyone says .... our little furry loved ones will be waiting for us on the other side. St. Francis is looking out for him right now.

In the meanwhile, read this:
<Rainbow Bridge>

Praying for you. ((hugs))

However; my first golden retriever was just as gentle and sweet - a little less hyper than Dasher - but sweet and kind to critters.
Poo Poo - our affectionate name for the first dog i had years ago - found a dead momma rabbit and picked up each baby one by one and took them home and placed them on the front porch to save them.

I tell you - if you want a smart loving sweet tempered dog - you cannot lose with a retriever. :)

I tried 4 times to raise one to old age. MY favorite kind of dog ever - i just cant seem to do it.
Maybe i raise them too friendly and gentle.

Please don't blame yourself WA. You're feeling very raw at the moment and thats perfectly normal.

However in the new year please consider giving another great big lug of a Retriever the benefit of your love and companionship...:)

Thanks again everyone for your condolences. :cry: I need to come in and talk about him some.... his stories if thats ok.
Talking about him is good. :hug: He was special and he deserves it that you speak of him with love and sadness and pride. :hug: Talking about him and thinking of him, and crying, and laughing, is taking care of him even now that he's no longer here on earth. :hug:

Well, update - i found out who has his body [my kids middle school teacher] and where they buried him.
Evidently the family up the hollow adjacent to my FIL's property buried him in the same woods as my last dog, Justice. [IF anyone even remembers him]

NOW - i dont know what to do - should i rebury him here at home?
Or leave him?

They said they would let me see him to say goodbye.

Conundrum is - i think he would want to be at home and buried with his bones and near the family.

IF anyone has a clue about dog spirits i really need to talk to you.

allow yourself to grieve for awhile before thinking about another pet, WA. I grieve for you and your pet. I love that rainbow bridge poem above. <Rainbow Bridge> God bless you. I look forward to seeing all my pets that I have lost over the years. But most importantly, my mom, dad and wife, Christy. God grieves with you.

That's kind of what I'm thinking. That he would want to be near his family. Truth is though, I think he is near you spiritually (and no OBOB, I'm not in the mood to debate you over this so you can forget it).

For you WA -----> (((hugs))

You say he is buried in the same area as another dog of yours? Might be best to leave him there. I am saying this, cause, umm I don't know if I can say it gently. If you dig him up, be prepared for some awfulness. I do not know how long it takes for just bones, but be prepared.

It is so hard to lose a pet. Like your heart breaks. God bless WA :crossrc:

Only you & your family can decide, WA. :hug:

Personally I would leave him there, especially if he has company of another beloved pet of yours. It's good to know where his body is, that can be comforting. But his spirit is with God now. And he's with you in your heart for ever. :hug:

I can understand the feeling of wanting to move his body, that's totally up to you.

I would not be surprised if a God who loves His animals so dearly, who saved them, every kind of them, from His massive flood, who uses them in so much of His poetry and imagery, and who paints the picture of paradise with them in it, will bring them to the eternal paradise.READ MORE »

Some on here already know what i said about my dog...
I am now firmly a believer they do go on to Heaven.

Tigg it is and has been cold here so likely he is not even nearly gone yet.
Its been 9 days today and the ground is cold - ice cold at night.
I am still torn on this idea. But i dont have long to think about it.

And what the heck, i am going to share this in the forum...

The night he did not come home [and i waited for him] at about 1 am i finally went to bed. Figuring he met someone who was feeding him. I laid down and i heard him. He was barking from a distance - a distance that is unexplainable unless or until you hear it. It was in the direction of his body and i didnt know it. The sound was strange because it was like coming thru from another world entirely. I told my husband the next morning that i believed Dasher died. I didnt know where or how, but that he wanted me to come get him. Thats how i felt from his bark.

SO i am confused what to do. Obviously its a dilemma. I think he wanted to be home. So i dont know.

I am numb most days, and confused what to do. As it turns out, i was right and his body was in the exact direction i heard his bark that night - the same night he died earlier in the day.

Peace.

Our animals go on... i know this for sure. I believe they are but yet another true gift from God awaiting us in Heaven.

You know how much I love you and Dasher ... he was a part of our conversations nearly every time. I will be here to support you in whatever decision you feel is best. I'm just so sorry I can't do more sweetie. Give the kids special BIG HUGS from me and I'm sending extra special ones to you.
I 'do' know - he is with you, always. :hug: :hug: :hug: :hug:

And you ALL are in my prayers. :pray:

~~~~
p.s. To clarify: When WA said
i think he would want to be at home and buried with his bones and near the family.
She was talking about all his dog bones that around the yard.
Thanks Tigg. :hug: I need prayers...and on my behalf, could you please pray for anyone in my family who is deceased - so they can take the love you send.
Thanks FA for explaining my blooper.
Yah his bones are sitting there in his favorite spot. He loved those bones and sometimes just for fun i would kick them away and watch him grab them and run around me like 'it tag' so i would chase him to get them back.
His ultimate favorite was when gram and pap would bring him a juicy meat covered ham bone. Nom nom.
He just loved that treat and instead of burying his bones he laid them where he slept so they were always handy.
I should look for his toy hamburger too - which he tore up to kill the squeaker. He hated the squeaker and always chewed the toy without mercy til he could kill the noise.
He was such a silly boy. :(
