Can you demonstrate how truth, life etc. can be literal or non-literal? I hoped you can distinguish between abstract terms like "life" and concrete terms like "door".Great example - and when Jesus says I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. that's not literal either. I think I'm starting to get how you think.
Do you take anything God says literally? Do you even believe the Bible is the Word of God? The Great Liar is not God. Jesus sure took the words of Moses literally. Can you demonstrate how truth, life etc. can be literal or non-literal? I hoped you can distinguish between abstract terms like "love" and concrete terms like "door".
I am beginning to be suspicious that you do not understand what the term "literally" means, if you cannot distinguish between sentences like "I am the truth" and "I am the door".Do you take anything God says literally? Do you even believe the Bible is the Word of God? The Great Liar is not God. Jesus sure took the words of Moses literally.
You say not to take Genesis literally....but then are unable to say what Genesis says literally. The literal reading of Genesis tells us that Creation took God 6 (24hour)days and was approximately 6000 years ago. You struggle to even accept that as the literal reading - but when someone claims that Creation took God 6 (24hour)days and was approximately 6000 years ago you say Genesis should not be read literally.. lolI am beginning to be suspicious that you do not understand what the term "literally" means, if you cannot distinguish between sentences like "I am the truth" and "I am the door".
Your post does not make much sense, IMO.You say not to take Genesis literally....but then are unable to say what Genesis says literally. The literal reading of Genesis tells us that Creation took God 6 (24)days and was approximately 6000 years ago. You struggle to even accept that as the literal reading - but when someone claims that Creation took God 6 (24)days and was approximately 6000 years ago you say Genesis should not be read literally.. lol
its about distinguishing between sentences as you stated earlier. Its pretty obvious when something should be taken literally or not isnt it? I pity those who didn't take Noah literally....or Lot literally....or even worse - God literally.Your post does not make much sense, IMO.
Yes it describes how it started. God made it. The bible also further illuminates us that it is by God that things consist. There is more than the beginning talked about in the bible.Genesis does not describe how the physical world works. Thats not the purpose of Genesis.
So was human sacrifice and idol worship..so?It does not actually depends on who. The flat earth cosmology was common for basically all ancient cultures.
No, not all. God's people said no such thing. Stop peddling old wive's tales as factThey all thought that the firmament is a solid dome in the shape of a bowl, that there is ocean or waters above it and waters under the Earth.
Yes, Jesus is the Gate, He is the Door. There is no other way to enter in other than through Jesus. This is the first letter in the Bible BET. God is the Head of the House but His Son is the door or the gate to determine who enters in or leaves the house.Of course not. For example, Jesus is not the door of sheep, literally (J 10:7)
How did Jesus make this clear? Evolution was not even a concept 2000 years ago.Jesus was clear that you can’t believe in evolution and be a Christian
Obviously not, if some people read Genesis like a scientific book or even create "Creationism museums" with all kinds of misunderstanding in it.Its pretty obvious when something should be taken literally or not isnt it?
The Bible uses several non-literal concepts of how God created the universe, for example:Yes it describes how it started. God made it. The bible also further illuminates us that it is by God that things consist. There is more than the beginning talked about in the bible.
So nothing. The point is that both the biblical authors and all the nations around them had the same or very similar cosmological concepts - for example the flat earth. So was human sacrifice and idol worship..so?
You can learn more for example here:No, not all. God's people said no such thing. Stop peddling old wive's tales as fact
But He is not a literal gate. And we are not literal sheep.Yes, Jesus is the Gate, He is the Door. There is no other way to enter in other than through Jesus. This is the first letter in the Bible BET. God is the Head of the House but His Son is the door or the gate to determine who enters in or leaves the house.
Excellent point, this establishes beyond any doubt whatsoever that one cannot simply assume everything in scripture is literal. Of course, the fact that no reasonable person would take Jesus to be a literal gate does not, by itself, prove that the creation account is metaphorical. But He is not a literal gate. And we are not literal sheep.
It’s a History book not a scientific book.Obviously not, if some people read Genesis like a scientific book or even create "Creationism museums" with all kinds of misunderstanding in it.
Ok, but did Jesus directly endorse what Moses said about this?Moses said we were Created by God on Day 6 in His image He created us.
Do you believe that Adam has an encounter with a talking snake in the Garden of Eden? I believe this is a useful image that we are not to take literally. It’s a History book not a scientific book.
actually flat earth is not taught at all in the bible my friend .Yes it describes how it started. God made it. The bible also further illuminates us that it is by God that things consist. There is more than the beginning talked about in the bible.
So was human sacrifice and idol worship..so?
No, not all. God's people said no such thing. Stop peddling old wive's tales as fact
but the POINT is HE be the ONLY Way .But He is not a literal gate. And we are not literal sheep.
