Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I love it most because at first Balaam doesn't even snap that the donkey is talking to him. He just sort of blurts out his response to what the donkey said! I get such a kick out of that! :D

I think I will go read that again tonight.
I really believe God let that donkey talk.
Is that in Numbers?
Some think it is symbolic but I believe it happened.^_^
God is pretty amazing!

Let me tell you all how sickness can glorify God. As I have told you before I had cancer I went to a great gyncologist recomended by my family doctor He was able to get all the cancer.
Well My gyncologist suggested I get a mammogram.
I had some suspicious places he caught by hand exam.
Well the first mammogram had masses and had to get another mammogram spot compressions and ultra sound.
I saw the pictures and the masses on the mammogram well to make a long story short I am now considered fine.
No masses no unusual lumps.
Now to me God was glorified in the sickness.. and also in the Praise God I am well.
God can be glorified in any circumstance in my opinion.
God sent me to a doctor that was caring and thorough.
So praises to God I feel God sent me too this doctor.
All the real praise goes to God.
Sorry for the rant just sharing some of God's blessings.

In my mind the glory came from the healing... not the sickness.
But praise God for your testimony and healing!

One of our most faithful members is quadriplegic. He is not only a fine man but a self-supporting, self-giving pillar of our community. He credits the automobile accident that put him in a wheelchair 25 years ago as the reason for him turning to God.

When I asked him if he ever wanted to walk again he told me, after thinking about it, that he wasn’t sure. He finds people who aren’t in wheelchairs more “crippled” than he is and anyhow, he wouldn’t be who he is if it weren’t for his condition – in fact he might still be cruising bars for chicks. He is satisfied today with his relationship with Christ and that means more to him than ‘running’ after his own interests.

That is, IMO, a man whose physical infirmity glorifies Christ.

Praise God for your friend!
But in the end, it was still faith in Christ and faith in Christ alone that brought Him to the Father. The accident may have slowed him down long enough to listen(I suspect more people curse God in their troubles than praise Him and so I would not advise this as an evangelistic method of spreading the gospel ^_^ ).

Could he have listened to the gospel, had faith, and been saved without the accident? Of course. I did... so do many others. That does not say I am any better... but at the same time lets not glorify being hit by trucks either :) . Regardless of where we are in life or what happens to us.... in the end, we still stand naked and broken before the cross and are required to have faith to enter in the kingdom. As far as God is concerned.... we are all "cripples" as we approach the cross.

BTW, I do not consider having legs to be an evil thing that I should feel bad about. They work, they run well. I am not going to apologize for having them or the interests that they run after. One of the most evil persons I ever met lost his legs in VN and cursed with every other word. He was bitter, self interested, and spewed hate all over anyone who was in his sphere. Legs or no legs... they neither add nor diminish our virtue one iota.
We could throw antidotal evidence back and forth all you want.
In the end, it is still faith in Christ and Him alone that brings us to the Father.
Not our health or the lack thereof.

This is a caricature, Dids, and uncalled for. No one has said that having legs is an evil thing. Why would you say that? And why do you guys keep laying these smug red herrings in the path of truth? Are you trying to make us look foolish by misrepresenting what we say?

It seems that people are still missing the point.

Was God glorified IN the sickness or BY the sickness?

There's a huge difference.

Sickness and disease itself does not glorified God.
It totally opposes His creation and desire for mankind.

If God's will is sickness and disease, then why didn't He create Adam sick?
Why isn't there going to be sickness and disease in heaven if it's God's will?

Lets try a different approach. By asking some questions.

1 How would we know what black was unless there was white?

2 How would we know what up meant unless there was down?

3 How would we know what pain was unless there was pleasure?

4 How would we know what rest was unless there was work?

5 how would we know what sadness was unless there was happiness?

6 how would we know what obedience was unless there was disobedience?

7 How would we know what and ending was unless there was a beggining?

8 how would we know perfection unless there was imperfection?

9 how would we know Love unless there was hate

10 How would we know mercy unless there was wrath?

Mmmm. Let me think.

Sometimes these 'easy' questions are the hardest.

I would say that mostly God can (and I would add, should) be glorified IN the sickness but I do not rule out the other option, either.

If I misunderstood this statement I apologize:
He is satisfied today with his relationship with Christ and that means more to him than ‘running’ after his own interests.
It sounds like you are implying that people who can run are self interested.
Even if I understood it correctly... I still apologize. :sorry:
Lets try to not let this one get out of hand also!

You are very gracious, Dids, and I apologize for snapping back. Sorry. And you are right, let’s keep this thread in hand. I’ll (try to) do my part.
