  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

CAN sickness glorify God?

Thats the point! You miss the point because you are caught up in the event and not the reason for it. And what the point you ask. As Jesus said "It is for the glory of God."

Which event? The one where God is glorified? Thats the one I'm caught up in...the healed part where God is glorified.

Sickness does not glorify God, but being healed does. People who are sick can glorify God while they are sick and that is certaintly better than cursing Him but the sickness itself does nothing but bring gloom, doom, and despair.

I did not miss the point. The man was sick then he was not. Glory to God.

I fully agree with you

When Paul questioned the credibility of the "super apostles" in 2 Cor 11:5 he did not mince his words. when John addressed the "Brood of vipers" in Matt 3:7 he was questioning the credibility of the crowds. When Jesus addressed the same types as "Snakes and brood of vipers" He most assuredly wasnt missing the mark when he addressed them! there are a myriad of other references where the Lord or his disciples rebuked and corrected bad behaviour and bad doctrine.

I will do everything in my power and on my knees to address that and if im found to be guilty I will repent. Im hoping that when you made that statement you examined your own heart also. Always good to be careful when we think we are standing lest we fall, and im only too painfully aware of the consequences of such an action or attitude!

Now you are bordering on making judgements out of ignorance. Hypocrysy is the art of wearing a mask and appearing to be something you are not. Im not sure that you were aware of what hypocrysy really is so i will give you the benefit of the doupt. Im not aware that I have hidden behind a mask of self righteouness since i consider myself to be nothing more than a vile and filthy sinner saved by grace alone and wearing the garment of Christs righteousness alone.

Im not sure if you are aware what biblical humility is, so again i will give you the benefit of the doupt. People are in danger being damaged by the type of teaching that Justin has been espousing. I go around behind and try to get Justin to discuss his doctrine scripturally but he keeps making up his own rules.
I have a deep and abiding passion for the lost and for the weakest and most timid of God saints. they are like lambs to me and the Lord has blessed me with a shepherds heart for them. When i percieve wolves attempting to tear them apart with unsound and unscriptural doctrine I cannot help but want to come to their aid and try to balance the discussion with scripture.you will see that i have already been doing that in answer to your post. I have not stepped outside the boundary of scripture in my responses.

yes I do that and if the person refuses to do that then fine but when they persist on spreading unbiblical and unsound doctrine around for others to see.Others who may be swayed or tossed to and fro then I react. just like Jeus did and just like the apostles did when they percieved bad teaching being spread around in the name of Christ. The epistles and the book of acts are full of such instances when bsad teachers were exposed and rebuked.

Neither do I. I always refer people to scripture. look at my posting history and the evidence will be irrefutable.

Absolutely, but not everyone seeks God for himself does he?

2 Tim4:2 is an exhortation to "Correct, rebuke and encourage" That seems to be a case for "picking up the pieces"

Absolutely! And where are those answers? He gave us them in a book about Himself and us. We find the answers in that book by careful and dedicated study and application. God uses men to minister to his flock. the bible is the tool he provided!

The thing here is that Jesus really did "KNOW" the hearts of those He rebuked. None of us here can say that and have it be true.

I agree. There is no scriptural justification for scripture to say "you are healed" and yet walk away still sick. :)
I do not try and rationalize it... I just agree with the word which says "by His stripes ye were healed" and leave the rest to Him. What I do not do is disagree with Him and wonder "where did He get that?"

when Jesus rebuked Peter it was blatantly obvious that Peter was trying to divert Jesus from his mission.

What about the apostles who rebuked. like Paul who rebuked Peter whe he was becoming legalistic?
We are called to rebuke from scripture. By using scriptural principles those whom God has ordained to pastoral and teaching ministry are called to such a task. Church discipline is very much a part of church government. Paul did it all the time in his letters. "Oh foolish galatians, who has decieved you" "There are divisions amomng you" "put out the immoral brother from among you" The epistles are full of it and those ordained by God are called to it. Its one of the biggest problems in the church today and because of a lack of discipline the wolves have entered in and no one is throwing them out!

None of us here can say that and have it be true.
Yes we can! We do not do it from a position of human superiority but from an attitude of servant leadership in submission to the authority of scripture!

OK. I'll bite. How do you define Biblical humility?

Really? How will people be damaged if they listen to Justin?

Translataion: "People are too stupid to see that Justin is "damaging" them in some way so I must come to the rescue."

Is it possible that people are able to think for themselves? Is it possible that if people have questions, they can go to God their Father for the answers?
James 1:5
If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.
He should ask God. Not oworm or probinson or Justin. God.

I can clearly discern that to continue in dialogue with you probinson would serve no useful purpose. We would go around in circles, put this thread way OT and waste valuble time composing long posts which would be more profitably spent in more edifying and wholesome pursuits.
I wish you Gods richest blessing in your walk with him and pray he will be the source of all comfort to you, especially as we approach the time of year and remember his most precious gift. :)

God can use sickness to glorifiy him he can use a rock he can use what ever he wants.
He can use an atheist if he so desires.
The thing that was hard to get through my thick head is God has a right to do whatever he pleases.
I have had to get used to that.

I agree wholeheartedly. This forum has spent the last 3 weeks debating healing. There is truly nothing more to discuss. Every point of view has been beaten to death.

Yep. Thats what Joseph learned too when after being thrown into a pit, sold into slavery, elevated to the post of prime minister of Egypt he could turn to his brothers years later and say. "You meant it for evil but God meant it for good"
If that isnt a clear case for how God brings about his purposes out of an evil situation i dont know what is! Everything that happened in Josephs life was in the providence of God because God "meant it for good" I think thats probably why Paul said that God works together all things to them that love him:)

You're saying you know peoples hearts? This is not the subject of the thread anyway. So we should not be hijacking it. If you want to discuss the subject of the thread fine, if you want to just attack individuals you need to go elsewhere. Not this thread please.

Thank you.

There's really no point in making fun of those who are wanting to discuss the issue. I'm sorry if my thougts have bored anyone here.

I went through a lot of physical, life threatening issues and learned alot about what was TRUTH according to God and what was not. God showed me that my physical issues were a result of emotional and spiritual situations in my life. My thinking is that if God had made me sick then it would have been sin for me to have another human (doctor) undo that sickness.

My thinking here was that I could help bring a little understanding to the issue from someone who went through it. Not understanding how I could be healed but yet still not able to function because of the physical issue I was dealing with. I bugged a lot of people asking the same questions over and over again just in different ways. But it was worth it. Because once the light of understanding came on, it was on.

Although I did not experience the supernatural manefestation of healing that I would have liked that was ok. I allowed God to heal me via the doctors and I'm continuing to learn to walk in healing no matter what the circumstances say.

Again, I apologize for being so boring.

I appreciate your incouraging words Jim. I just see no point in people getting snippy and sarcastic with others just because they think the subject is no longer worth talking about. Its obviously inportant for some else the thread would be empty.

I feel that if those who think it's empty and worthless subject matter should go elsewhere instead of poking fun at the one's here who are discussing things I think rather peaceably.
