  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

This was a question brought up in a TAW thread. Also, more generally speaking, are there any groups of NC Orthodox wherein the priests cannot marry (or can - whichever is the minority in your Church)?

Thanks a lot!

John

I don't know about where they don't, but I do know that the priest at Saint Mina's in Franklin is married with children.

That's about the extent of my knowledge on the subject. ^_^

Yes they can marry , most of them are married

This looks like an interesting thread.

I have a question. I know that in Eastern rite Catholic and EO churches, priests cannot marry after their ordination in the ministry. But unlike in Western rite Catholic churches, married men can become priests. Is this the case in Coptic Orthodoxy? Or can a priest get married after his ordination? Also, is this true only of Coptic Orthodoxy, or of all OO churches?

Thanks.

I notice that His Holiness Pope Shenouda III is unmarried. Why does not the Coptic Church ordain married Bishops?

Are you sure that you are Oriental Orthodox ?? your user name and your questions sound strange
