  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Can Amil prove with Scripture that the beast is in the pit during the thousand years?

Just before the Lord returns from Heaven, in all His Glory, and in flaming fire, there is that inevitable situation of temptation that is going take place in all the world, Revelation 13:11-18.
[16] And he [the Image] CAUSETH ALL, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:
[17] And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
> For all who do take the "MoB", they will be the "goats" aka the tares/unsaved. The only people who will NOT take the "mark", will be the sheep, aka the wheat/the saved.

If then the saved wheat shall be changed/resurrected at that time of Jesus' Glorious appearance, what will be the eternal situation for all the tares/unsaved who did take the "mark"?
Ans.
Revelation 14[9] And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, [10] The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God,
which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:
[11] And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.

> To be blunt, there will be no escapees, no one left behind, and no survivors.
See Romans 8:8-9.
The Jews still alive at time of the Second Coming shall see Lord Jesus, and shall receive him then as their promised messiah!

Sorry to say, it will be too late for them, and anyone else, who has not believed in Him before His sudden appearance in flaming fire. Anyone who does not have the Holy Spirit within them, at that time, is none of His.

They should have had faith in him long before his second appearing. They have neither faith or sanctification by Gods gift of his Holy Spirit all those years ago.

13 But we should always give thanks to God for you, brethren beloved by the Lord, because God has chosen you from the beginning for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and faith in the truth. 14 It was for this He called you through our gospel, that you may gain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. 15 So then, brethren, stand firm and hold to the traditions which you were taught, whether by word of mouth or by letter from us.

Time for ignorance has long been over.

Act 17
30 So having overlooked the times of ignorance, God is now proclaiming to mankind that all people everywhere are to repent, 31 because He has set a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness through a Man whom He has appointed, having furnished proof to all people by raising Him from the dead.”

REV 20 - Millenialists often ask Amils how we can be in "The millennium" now because Satan still appears to be lose in the world - not confined to the pit. Here is a rough version of how I read John's rich imagery about "the millennium" (the gazillion years) between Jesus Ascension and his Return.
From Revelation 20:1
" And I saw an angel coming down out of heaven, having the key to the Abyss and holding in his hand a great chain. 2 He seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil, or Satan, and bound him for a thousand years. 3 He threw him into the Abyss, and locked and sealed it over him, to keep him from deceiving the nations anymore until the thousand years were ended. After that, he must be set free for a short time."
= Here the imagery is of Satan bound during this millennium (or 'gazillion years') we are in from Jesus Ascension to his Return. But how is he bound? When the seventy returned from their preaching mission, they said to Jesus, "Lord, even the demons are subject to us in your name." Jesus replied, "I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven" (Luke 10:17-18). These words, needless to say, must not be interpreted as suggesting Satan's literal descent from heaven at that moment. They must rather be understood to mean that Jesus saw in the works his disciples were doing an indication that Satan's kingdom had just been dealt a crushing blow—that, in fact, a certain binding of Satan, a certain restriction of his power, had just taken place. In this instance Satan's fall or binding is associated directly with the missionary activity of Jesus' disciples.
= Another passage which relates the restriction of Satan's activities to Christ's missionary outreach is John 12:31-32: "Now is the judgment of this world, now shall the ruler of this world be cast out; and I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to myself." It is interesting to note that the verb translated "cast out" (ekball) is derived from the same root as the word used in Revelation 20:3, "and threw (ball) him [Satan] into the pit." Even more important, however, is the observation that Satan's being "cast out" is here associated with the fact that not only Jews but men of all nationalities shall be drawn to Christ as he hangs on the cross. The binding of Satan described in Revelation 20:1-3, therefore, means that throughout the gospel age in which we now live the influence of Satan, though certainly not annihilated, is so curtailed that he cannot prevent the spread of the gospel to the nations of the world. Because of the binding of Satan during this present age, the nations cannot conquer the church, but the church is conquering the nations. More here.
The Millennium of Revelation 20 | Monergism

"4 I saw thrones on which were seated those who had been given authority to judge."
= The heavenly throne room John showed us earlier in 4:4.

"And I saw the souls..."
= Souls are in heaven.

"...of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony about Jesus and because of the word of God."
= They're dead!

"...They had not worshiped the beast or its image and had not received its mark on their foreheads or their hands."
= They were loyal to Christ

"...They came to life and reigned with Christ a thousand years."
= They are dead - but they 'came to life' in that they've got the 'first resurrection' in that they're now safe with Christ, reigning with Christ - where HE is - in heaven - in front of the thrones and elders of 4:4. That's why John refers to thrones. This action is happening in heaven, during this 'gazillion years' we are in before the Lord returns. Where are they? Heaven. The passage said so. How are they? Dead - these are the martyred saints. Why did they come to 'life'? Because they're in heaven - that's where Christians are (in this imagery) until the general resurrection that John hints at in the next verse.

"...5 The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended. This is the first resurrection..."
= That is, the rest of the dead are raised for judgement at the end of history.

"...6 Blessed and holy are those who share in the first resurrection. The second death has no power over them..."
= These Christians are in heaven because the 'second death' or hell has no power over them! John is comforting his generation that anyone that is killed by the Romans will be with Christ - and the second death has no power over them. They're safe.

"...but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with him for a thousand years."
= Reigning the way the other from Ephesians etc says Jesus is reigning - now. While wars and pandemics tear at the world.

Ephesians 1:18 shows us Christ is reigning now:
"....I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, 19 and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength 20 he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, 21 far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. 22 And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, 23 which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way."
The Lord is reigning over his church - just as Revelation 20 shows.

So are you saying this happens in the future?
When did the Lord pour out his Spirit of Grace?

Does this fit...,

Act 2
36 Therefore let all the house of Israel know for certain that God has made Him both Lord and Christ—this Jesus whom you crucified.”

37 Now when they heard this, they were pierced to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Brothers, what are we to do?” 38 Peter said to them, “Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 For the promise is for you and your children and for all who are far away, as many as the Lord our God will call to Himself.” 40 And with many other words he solemnly testified and kept on urging them, saying, “Be saved from this perverse generation!”

Yeah - nah - that kind of destroys the whole point of the gospel.
New wineskins and all that.
Grace, not law, and all that.
Church, not nation of Israel, and all that.
Faith, not ethnicity, and all that.
Raise up the very stones themselves to praise the son of God - if the nation of Israel won't - and all that.
Jesus himself is the temple - and all that.
Neither Jew nor Greek - but CHRIST is all - and all that.

Exactly!
Jesus fulfils the kingdom of God promise that one day Abraham's family would bless all nations. After Jesus and Acts - out it goes - to all nations through faith. What is an ethnicity or national boundary? It's irrelevant, for there's neither Jew nor Greek, slave or free, male or female....

What does Peter think of the church?

But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.

Right now is age of grace, but different age when Second Coming happens!
Yes.
It's called Judgement Day, aka eternity!

When Amil's read the whole New Testament we see that the Day of the Lord -when Jesus returns - is it. There is no more, no in-between ages, no end-times-table. The Lord suddenly and unpredictably returns and EVERYTHING changes in an instant.

There are two ages in the New Testament - THIS AGE - and the AGE TO COME - and the transition between the two is the Day of the Lord aka Judgement Day aka the Coming of the Son of Man. There's just no separating any of this out! The dead are raised and judged, the heavens and earth melt, the New Heavens and New Earth are installed and believers are saved into their eternal new home. All together - as far as I can tell - in a flash! So read the clearer statements in Scripture first, then try and understand the less clear after that. Let's look at the clear first.

THIS AGE looks like this:-
“homes, brothers, sisters, mothers, children, and fields — and with them persecutions” (Mk 10:30); “The people of this age marry and are given in marriage” (Lk 20:34); the scholar, philosopher and such wisdom are of this age (1 Cor 1:20); secular and religious rulers dominate (1 Cor 2:6-8); “the god of this age [Satan] has blinded the minds of unbelievers” (2 Cor 4:4); this age is explicitly called “the present evil age” (Gal 1:4); ungodliness and worldly passions are typical of it (Titus 2:12). All of these qualities are temporal, and are certainly destined to pass away with the return of our Lord. “This age” is the age in which we live, and is the age in which we struggle as we long for the coming of Christ and the better things of the age to come.

THE AGE TO COME looks like this:-
it is characterized by eternal life (Mk 10:30; Lk 18:30); is also denoted as a time when there is no marriage or giving in marriage (Lk 20:35); and it is which is characterized by “life that is truly life” (I Tim 6:19). These qualities are all eternal, and are indicative of the state of affairs and quality of life after the return of Christ. In other words, these two ages, the present (“this age”) and the future (the “age to come”) stand in diametrical opposition to one another. One age is temporal; the other is eternal. One age is characterized by unbelief and ends in judgement; the other is the age of the faithful and is home to the redeemed. It is this conception of biblical history that dominates the New Testament.

THE DAY OF THE LORD / LAST DAY looks like this

MATTHEW 13
The harvest is the end of the age, and the harvesters are angels. 40 “As the weeds are pulled up and burned in the fire, so it will be at the end of the age. 41 The Son of Man will send out his angels, and they will weed out of his kingdom everything that causes sin and all who do evil. 42 They will throw them into the blazing furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. 43 Then the righteous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Whoever has ears, let them hear.

Jesus expressly states that he will raise believers up on the “last day” (Jn 6:39, 40, 44, 54; 11:24)

“There is a judge for the one who rejects me and does not accept my words; that very word which I spoke will condemn him at the last day” (John 12:48)

The return of Christ will occur “in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed” (1 Co. 15:52; cf. 1 Thess 4:16). Notice that there are no gaps of time indicated between the resurrection and the judgement. These texts collectively speak of the resurrection, the judgment, and the return of Christ as distinct aspects of but one event, occurring at precisely the same time (cf. Mt 25:31-46). Premillennialists, who often chide amillennialists for not taking the Bible “literally” and who champion what they call the “literal” interpretation of Scripture, must now insert a thousand-year gap between the Second Coming of Christ (and the resurrection) and the Final Judgment to make room for the supposed future millennial reign of Christ! And this, ironically, when the clear declarations of Scripture do not allow for such gaps.

IT ALL HAPPENS TOGETHER!
2 Thessalonians 1:7-10
and give relief to you who are troubled, and to us as well. This will happen when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven in blazing fire with his powerful angels. 8 He will punish those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. 9 They will be punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his might 10 on the day he comes to be glorified in his holy people and to be marveled at among all those who have believed. This includes you, because you believed our testimony to you.

2 Peter 3:10-13
10 But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything done in it will be laid bare. 11 Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives 12 as you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming. That day will bring about the destruction of the heavens by fire, and the elements will melt in the heat. 13 But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, where righteousness dwells.

Ok that is good.
Nationals from all peoples receive the same reward at the second coming.

1 Corinthians 12:13
For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free, and we were all made to drink of one Spirit.

Jn 10 :14 I am the good shepherd, and I know My own, and My own know Me, 15 just as the Father knows Me and I know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep. 16 And I have other sheep that are not of this fold; I must bring them also, and they will listen to My voice; and they will become one flock, with one shepherd.

Still need the Messianic Age foretold by OT prophets, and neither the Eternal State nor present age is it!

Right now is age of grace, but different age when Second Coming happens!
Yes, according to Amil thinking, it will be the NEW Heaven and the NEW Earth.

For all those who are Born Again, here is the clue for understanding:
2 Corinthians 4[7] But we have this [His] treasure in [our] earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.
So now, who is the KoG, aka the Heaven, that all Born Again Christians have been "translated" into?
Well,...for one to be "in Jesus", is to be "in the KoG", aka the "Kingdom of Heaven".
Yes, it's true! You can dare to think about it in that way, because that is the reality of what it means to be a spiritual member of His Body. As He is, so also are we, the KoG. He is our New Heaven, and we are the New earth in which He desires to dwell in.

Mmm, I wonder if this goes too far?
He reigns now over the church, his body, yes.
We are in the "millennium" / gazillion years now, between Jesus ascension and return.
But there will be a Return, Judgement Day, and New Heavens and New Earth as well.
