  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I love to go camping, and hiking too. We usually camp out in a nice, fairly large tent. A tent trailer would be nice, and probably a little more comfortable than a regular tent. :) I've always wanted one, anyway. A travel trailer is the ultimate luxury, though.

ours is a hybrid travel trailer, hardwalls, kitchen, bathroom, microwave, fridge, etc..all the amenities, and then it has popout tentends on either end, so that you practically sleep outside like in a tent, the best of oth worlds.. we love it, and we can tow it with our SUV.

I camp with my kids here in Florida. It's pretty good for fall, winter and early spring. Once summer hits, unless you have a popup or 5th wheel with A/C, forget it. If mosquitoes don't suck you dry, the heat will get you.

Camping in a trailer or motor home is not really camping at all. Try a backpack, with tent, and you are there....
Right on Matthan.
Try camping with a 6' x 10' piece of canvas. Make a lean-to out of it and keep a good fire going in front of it on cold nights. Some times if it not cold I just cover my bedroll with the canvas. But with my wife and / or kids I have a large canvas tent.

I don't know about that..I like the idea of having a trailer. I persoanlly like my bathroom!!!! It's really not very fun to be a female and have to "go" in the woods. My hubby likes to rough it on the Mountains..but when he gets his bug to do that..I say..."go have fun"!;)

It all depends on your perspective. :) I've known many females including my wife, who like backpacking and don't mind "roughing it." When I worked in Yosemite N.P. half of the my crew members were female and we backpacked every weekend during the summer. Last year I lead a spring break backpacking trip for college students, and half of them were female.

to each their own...we love our trailer. after a good nights rain, i don't envy the tent campers in the campground, when evrything is muddy and needs to packed up that way...my wife totally agrees with the bathroom situation. it's so nice to use your own, and to have things as clean as you would like it.beats any kind of hotel room for sure...i would not take anything away from the backpacking and tent camping, there are lots of places my trailer can't go. but for our family it works great!

The real fun of camping is doing it like the original explorers did it, within reason. A tent or lean-to is far preferable to an aluminim teepee in that regard, just as cooking over wood coals is much better than a propane camp stove. Just the smell of wood smoke is enough to get the blood flowing an the mind going....

Matthan, you sound like a reenactor, or at least some one who would enjoy reenacting. I myself have done a few historical treks or scouts, using only the clothing, food, and equipment of a given time period, in my case the mid 18th century. Its a great way to experience the wilderness. Ahhh wood smoke....
