  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hello, I am new here and I am happy to be among fellow believers.
Simply, I came across another thread on 'Yahoo' entitled, "Why do Christians blame everything on either God or Satan?". Now, I firmly take a stance that Satan is a tempter, but we make a choice and take responsibility for our own actions. I am also a Christian, therefore I mean no harm or offence to fellow believers in the faith, I only want your views and opinions on the answer given by another poster, below:

"Any Christian taking the time to read the Bible would know that God is at fault!

Job 9:23 - WHEN A SCOURGE brings sudden death, God* (*NOT SATAN!) mocks the despair of the INNOCENT* (*Nobody in FIRE AND RESCUE would do that!)

“GOD” is about to break his elbow poking “SATAN” while watching any tragedy in the world!

Job 9:24 When a land falls into the hands of the wicked* (*God is helpless!), he* (*GOD) blindfolds its judges. If it is not he, then who is it?* (*it can’t be SATAN!)

Check the Bible story on the HOLY PROPHET AHITHOPHEL...

2 Samuel 17:14,23 And Absalom and ALL THE MEN OF ISRAEL* (*GOD’S CHOSEN MEN! Ladies didn’t count!) said, The counsel of Hushai the Archite is better than the counsel of Ahithophel. For the LORD had appointed to defeat the good counsel of Ahithophel, to the intent that THE LORD MIGHT BRING EVIL upon Absalom. [23] And when Ahithophel saw that his counsel was not followed, he saddled his @ss, and arose, and gat to his house and HANGED HIMSELF!* (*No Muslim terrorist today would do anything as silly as that!)

Ezekiel 14:9 And if the prophet* (*any Prophet of God) BE DECEIVED when he hath spoken a thing, I the LORD have deceived that prophet* (*NOT SATAN but God), and I will stretch out my hand upon him, and will destroy him from the midst of my people Israel* (*cheap Bible drama!).

The Early Church Fathers came up with a Super-Narcissist John 3:16 “LOVING GOD” IDEA PREMEDITATING THE MURDER OF HIS SON JESUS CHRIST!

1 Peter 1:19-20 with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot* (*but full of ROMAN soldiers’ spit): who verily* (*NO BULL CRAP!) was foreordained before the foundation of the world* (*GOD CREATED THIS WHOLE UNIVERSE to have God the Son JESUS CHRIST nailed to a Holy Roman Cross! Rev 3:14)

Lamentations 3:37-38 Who is he that saith, and it cometh to pass, when THE LORD commandeth it not? out of the mouth of the Most High proceedeth not EVIL* (*first EVIL!) and good*? (*Jer 19:7)

Exodus 4:11 The Lord said to him, “Who gave man his mouth? Who makes him deaf or mute? Who gives him sight or makes him blind? Is it not I, the Lord? (Not SATAN but GOD, or is it a freaky natural event?)

Amos 3:6 Shall a trumpet be blown in the city and the people not be afraid? shall there be EVIL in a city, and the LORD hath not done it?

IUn spite of the Bible stories the Clergy came up with a successful formula…

GOD = GOOD
SATAN = EVIL

Proverbs 16:4 The LORD hath made all things for himself: yea, EVEN THE WICKED* (*GOD created SATAN!) FOR THE DAY OF EVIL.

In the Bible stories God had SATAN ready to tempt Eve as soon as she was put together! God didn’t warn Adam or Eve about any talking snake. Eve was the weakest link in the Humanity/God chain. GOD PROVIDED NO GUARDIAN ANGELS TO WATCH OVER HER!

Ruth 1:20-21 “Don't call me Naomi,” she told them. “Call me Mara, because the ALMIGHTY has made my life very bitter. I went away full, but the LORD has brought me back empty. Why call me Naomi? The LORD has afflicted me; the ALMIGHTY* (*NOT SATAN BUT GOD!) has brought misfortune upon me.”

Proverbs 1:26-28 I* (*NOT SATAN BUT GOD!) in turn WILL LAUGH AT YOUR DISASTER; I WILL MOCK WHEN CALAMITY OVERTAKES YOU* (*God waits until any accident to happen!) – when calamity overtakes you like a storm, when disaster sweeps over you like a whirlwind, when distress and trouble overwhelm you. Then they will call to me but I* (*GOD) will not answer; they will look for me but will not find me* (*GOD IS BUSY LAUGHING AT THE CHILDREN AND PREGNANT WOMEN IN TROUBLE!).

In the Bible stories Jesus came “to destroy the works of Satan.” Satan is a GENTLEMAN suggesting Eve to acquire knowledge without help from the CLERGY! Eve was not looking for fame, sex, drugs or money, but plain knowledge!

1 John 3:8 For the Devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil* (*ONLY “THE WORKS OF THE DEVIL,” NOT THE SATAN AND DEMON CHARACTERS who were saved through Noah’s Flood when “God” killed everybody, including pregnant women and innocent children because they were getting “MORE VIOLENT EVERY DAY!” Satan and the Demons NEVER got any more violent!).

The Bible is full of sadistic stories that Christians CAN’T BELIEVE!"

Again, I do not really condone this answer, I only want to know, as believers and readers of the Holy Bible, what answer you would give in response to the person?

God Bless.

As far as the Job quotes. Job is trying to understand He was going through what everyone goes through at some point. "why do bad things happen to good people?" He was also aware that God's understanding was far beyond His own.

His 2 Samuel comment was misleading since it involved the military and women weren't allowed in the military.

Read all of Ezekiel 14 and you'll see that it's referring to people worshiping idols. Even the prophets had become corrupted. It's important to read everything and not just the verse.

A lot of his comments about evil are also misleading since the Hebrew and Greek words have a slightly different meaning than the English.

His comments on Adam and Eve are ridiculous. God told Adam and Eve not to do it. They had free will so He didn't force them to do anything. They chose to listen to Satan in defiance of what God said.

Read all of Proverbs 1 in context.

This person is trying to make Satan look good, so he completely took the knowledge event in the garden out of context. Satan knew Eve would die. He was trying to kill her or more correctly get her to kill herself and disobey God. His intentions were evil.

The comment on Noah's flood shows a lot of ignorance as to what actually happened at the time of the flood.

Most of it is just twisting of the stories and taking verses out of context. The person that posted this originally is in no way a Christian. The entire post is purely deceptive. Furthermore it's just a copy and paste from somewhere else as a lot of non-believers post this exact same thing in other forums.

The intention is to deceive and twist scripture so Satan looks like the good guy, all the while they leave out key details and context.

You posted too many questions. All of them are significant. So, I can only take one at a time. So, this is the first one.

It is dangerous to use any verse in the Book of Job to support a point of argument. Job 9:23 is a complaint made by Job when he does not understand why would God punish him. Here is the key point, he "thinks" that it is God who punishes him without a good reason. So he concluded that God punishes good people as well as (or more than) bad people.

Your friend read this verse and had the same feeling as Job does. This does not mean it is a correct understanding. In fact, it is not.

Why not? That is another topic and should be discussed separately. If you like to explore, you may read the rest of Job.

So, as a Christian, you need to have a faith that whatever happened, it is NOT God's fault.

By no means that I answered fully on any of your question. I simply extend a incentive so the discussion might continue.

Why would you give such questions a millisecond of your time? Do you value the opinions of such obvious God-haters over those of ordinary Christians? These are the mockers, the scoffers and the scornful of Psalm 1. Answering these questions is the job of a Christian apologist. They have the background to shred arguments and answer questions of the type you bring up. If we attempt to spar with these individuals we will get drained and have accomplished nothing.
