• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Where have you shown that the existence of God is reasonable and consistent?

The existence of God is not an axiom in the Ontological Argument.

Yes it does. I can make up any imagined entity I want and prove it's necessity in the same way.

You are in error.

Go for it, but if I recall correctly the property is only mentioned tangentially - the thrust of the paper is nothing to do with theological arguments!

Incidentally, Marcus, as a mathematician/logician you should be a theist. :)

And you don't need to hide. Post out in the open if you think what you have to say is worth saying.

Your post is one of the reasons I would prefer to have a private discussion - and the reason he doesnt. I have been addressing HIM, not you. Yet, all of you jump in with the pack mentality. He likes being able to depend on you guys to jump in and join in with him. And you guys enjoy ganging up and beating your chests and grunting together. None of you have the courage to have a discussion without having your posse there to back you up. You NEED each other. You are real brave Nathan Poe, beating your chest and saying, "Come on out here and fight like a man (and please pay no attention to all the other guys behind me with clubs and knives)!" You are brave as long as you dont have to talk with a Christian one-on-one.

I am out of here. I offered a chance for a real discussion. Nobody had the courage to take me up on my offer. Nobody had the courage to talk to me without their support group. Like the little dog that barks loud and ferocious as long as he is safely in his pen, but runs away if challenged. You can go back to beating your chests and grunting now, I'm leaving your forum so you can enjoy your safe zone. (I wonder if anyone will stalk me like last time when I tried to leave.) P.S. - When you stand before God, dont try to lie and say no one tried to tell you.

The existence of God is not an axiom in the Ontological Argument.

Just because they put it in two axioms, does not mean that it's not circular. "God has all positive properties" and "Necessary existence is a positive property" could just as easily be said "God has all positive properties, which includes necessary existence".

I have been addressing HIM, not you. Yet, all of you jump in with the pack mentality.

Pack mentality is the entirety of the pack acting as one single unit. No one here does that. We each have our own, separate, forms of attack, and couldn't care less what happened to the others. Not to mention that, if you don't want to address the others, you don't have to. Only focus on one person. Ignore the others. Even if they were trying to use pack mentality, they can't unless you let them.

Interesting modus operandi you've chosen for yourself, DMagoh:

1.) Accuse your opponents of cowardice.
2.) Flee.

But hey, if you want to leave, no one's going to stop you. Goodbye, DMagoh. Make sure to pick up your persecution complex on the way out.

I am out of here.

Good because the conversation you want to have would be more appropriate in General Apologetics. This is Creationism and Evolution, and this thread specifically is about hominid fossils.

DMagoh, my wit is sharp and my intellect keen. I shale spar you with if you wish. Your blade against mine.

I would prefer a real time chat. pm is so slow.

you are unwilling to share your views with everyone and that speaks much louder then your words. Are you ashamed of your baptist views?

Actually, DM, I've engaged in several Christians in PM discussions during my time at CF, and have found them civil, well-spoken, and while I never found their arguments to be convincing, I was won over by their sincerity.

Would I, or anyone else, find such a discussion with you equally pleasant? Unlikely, if this thread is any indication.

Any other mistakes you'd like to make about me?

Well, with an attitude like this, how could anyone refuse an offer to actually speak with you some more? What a mystery...

Yet another creationist abandons his thread and runs away. Way to stick up for your beliefs.

You can think we're "cowardly" all you want. The fact is, I simply don't want to waste my time, but you actually left your thread. Who's the "coward?"

I find it interesting that you avoid, at all costs, the Christian (unless you have your posse around).
But, I'm not avoiding you. I've told you repeatedly to post here if you have something to say or evidence to provide.

I have to admit I am quite surprised by your reluctance.
You shouldn't be since I'm not showing any. Post here or start a new thread. That's the third time I've told you that.

You must have heard that I have a "super-duper electro-magnetic laser christian conversion gun" that I can shoot at people through the PM function. That is a false rumor, and it is absolutely not true. So you see, there is nothing to fear. You dont need your posse.
Your attempt at humor is noted.

Your post is one of the reasons I would prefer to have a private discussion - and the reason he doesnt. I have been addressing HIM, not you. Yet, all of you jump in with the pack mentality.
Then ignore them. In fact, there's a handy little function built right into the forum to ignore posts. Turn it on when you read this thread and you can ignore everyone but me if you like.

He likes being able to depend on you guys to jump in and join in with him.
*sigh*

And you guys enjoy ganging up and beating your chests and grunting together. None of you have the courage to have a discussion without having your posse there to back you up. You NEED each other.
I hate to be rude but stop running on at the mouth and post whatever it was you wanted to say originally when you offered to PM with, I believe, monkeypsycho62.

You are real brave Nathan Poe, beating your chest and saying, "Come on out here and fight like a man (and please pay no attention to all the other guys behind me with clubs and knives)!" You are brave as long as you dont have to talk with a Christian one-on-one.
I really don't think you'd like to have a one-on-one debate with any of us given your complete and utter lack of any semblance of understanding of apparently any branch of science.

I am out of here.
Didn't you leave once already?

I offered a chance for a real discussion.
No, you offered a chance to be preached at in private. Sorry, but I don't enjoy being proselytized to and you wouldn't enjoy your arguments failing at every turn.

Nobody had the courage to take me up on my offer.
Why the need for privacy? Again, if you cannot show your beliefs in public it speaks volumes about the strength of those beliefs.

Nobody had the courage to talk to me without their support group. Like the little dog that barks loud and ferocious as long as he is safely in his pen, but runs away if challenged.
Who is it that's leaving the thread again?

You can go back to beating your chests and grunting now, I'm leaving your forum so you can enjoy your safe zone. (I wonder if anyone will stalk me like last time when I tried to leave.)
It certainly wont be me.

P.S. - When you stand before God, dont try to lie and say no one tried to tell you.
Don't suppose you want to show your evidence for this deity of yours before you go?

So the creationist is going to run away from this thread a second time, at the same time accusing others of cowardice for not wanting to talk to him...?

I don't think there's anything unusual about it,
it's just about par for the course.

I guess the universe "popping up" out of thin air is NOT a baseless claim?

No one is making that claim, but it would be baseless to suppose that something had to create it. I'm taking the default stance and saying, "Well, all we know is that this universe exists."

Because God left a manual that says you're the one screwed.

A manual written by humans. Why couldn't God have written him itself and then updated it with the times so that it could be translated correctly? You take it on faith that the Bible was inspired by God, you don't actually know that.

I've posted this before but everyone ignored it.
...blah blah blah (cutting out the nonsense)
[/quote]

You're making a lot of assumptions. You're assuming that the apostles actually existed, and if they did exist, you're assuming they weren't fooled they same way the people at Waco were fooled. In their heads, they weren't dying for a lie. I don't know about you, but don't you find it weird that the New Testament was written after Jesus had died? While Paul's stuff is the youngest, which dates some years after Jesus died, John's stuff was written about 70 years after Jesus had died. I doubt heavily the credibility of this book, as I'm sure you do of other religious texts.
