See post #264

The Wizard of Oz was a good movie, but completely irrelevant to this discussion. The metaphor you were aiming for is just not going to work.

At that time, her legal name was not yet changed, so post #267 still stands.

Nevertheless, even if you disagree, it still stands.

I am referencing plain fact. It's not a matter of disagreement. Out of curiosity, have you ever changed your name?

What has that got to do with the subject of this thread:

Bruce Jenner?

Bruce Jenner: A Perspective:
Don’t know what I’m talking about yet? Well I think you might have guessed. The topic of today’s rant is none other than Bruce Jenner (or Caitlyn as he falsely calls himself). As you might know former star athlete and current Kardashian Patriarch, Bruce Jenner has come out as transsexual. 65-year old Bruce has apparently been “suffering” from gender dysphoria since adolescence and has been undergoing hormonal replacement treatment since the 1980’s. He has also been crossdressing and has announced that he will broadcast his transitioning in a reality show/documentary programme on national television. The media is fawning over him, raising him to the skies for his “bravery”, and some of my fellow (unenlightened) feminists, who’re supposed to be tolerant and open-minded are failing to see what this is really about: ATTENTION.

The author doesn't have her facts right. Why should this opinion sway me?

You're welcome to read it. You don't necessarily have to agree.

It's an opinion on Bruce Jenner's character and that his need for attention is ENORMOUS and toxic.

The author of the article sees this:

elephantintheroom.jpg

And the author chose to bring it up.

There's a serious problem with Bruce regarding his character.

choosing to ignore it and/or not "see" or acknowledge it,

doesn't make it go away.

Bruce Jenner: Another Perspective.
I've heard you say you "identify as a woman". But I find that highly unlikely and insulting. You see, Mr. Jenner, there is more to being a woman than beautiful gowns and fake boobs. There is more to being a woman than makeup and pretty hair. This is something we mothers begin teaching our young daughters at an early age.

As a woman of nearly 50 years, I can tell you what it is truly like to be a woman. You may be able to understand or even empathize, but you are definitely NOT able to "identify". For instance, you will never know what it is like to wake up every 28 days with searing stomach pain so bad it doubles you over, yet still trot off to work or school as though everything is fine.

So you are trying to support your claims by using an article from a satirical news site, a site trying to be like The Onion? That article doesn't support your claims the way you think it does; if anything, it reduces your entire argument into a joke.

You are, of course, entitled to your opinion, and can come to your very own conclusions regarding what you read or don't read, regardless of whether your opinion coincides with my opinion, which does not necessarily coincide with your opinion of what my opinion is.

You might be interested in realizing that I have not stated disagreement with you necessarily. I have just been asking you to justify your position and you seem to be having difficulty in doing so, especially with your reasoning on why Caitlyn supposedly has "conflicted feelings about females" including ""female-envy" and/or hatred (misogyny)" (especially because your stated reasoning means you believe the same about me) and the unexplained reasons why you think she got the award.

This conversation could have been over long ago if you would give direct answers to simple questions.

My goodness--is this woman not aware that there are women out there who have never had a period and have never been pregnant, never raised children, and have never had a hot flash???---Is that what makes a woman? I've known women who had all of this, and were the most unfeminine women I've ever met!! And I've been with utterly beautiful, very feminine women, very classy, that I had no idea were transgender until later. It's so stupid to think that unless you've bled once a month you're not a woman! I've had all those things, so what. After my hysterectomy I felt so much freer, I loved to go down the tampax isle and laugh--no more of that stuff for me--Yippeeee!! Never have I felt less of a woman because I no longer bleed once a month, nor do I have hot flashes, either. If you did not know about Caitlyn, you'd never even guess. And I'm pretty sure you've probably been around some transgenders and didn't even know it. The majority say nothing.

NASA discovers planet covered in chocolate

August 12, 2015

Future #1 holiday spot? NASA scientists find planet covered in "chocolate substance" 400 light years away

NASA made a startling discovery early this morning. An exoplanet, meaning a planet outside of our solar system, was detected by NN203, a probe that was sent to explore the galaxy in 2002, and after some preliminary scans of the planets surface, scientists have been able to determine that the planet is covered in cocoa matter and crystalized sugar - AKA Chocolate.

The planet has been named CH0C2-NN and is approximately 400 lightyears away in a solar system containing 22 planets. The chocolate planet is thought to be habitable as it contains oxygen levels "remarkably similar" to those of Earth.

NASA scientist Ludwig Heplay explained how a substance as complex as chocolate can occur on a different planet:

"It may seem astounding that a chocolate substance can be found so far away, but when you think about it, chocolate is just several plant substances mixed together. The photosynthesis on this planet has allowed for cocoa matter to grow and as it has been mixed with sugar for millions of year with the help of powerful storms, the end product is what we on Earth know as chocolate."

I hope Caitlyn is happy. It is nice to see that her family seems to have responded lovingly to the news.

Didn't they pretty much have to in front of the media? Who wants to be the family member who is portrayed as the "phobe" of the family? It's obvious that anyone in the family who didn't "lovingly respond" to Bruce's new look would be noted by the media and made out to be the villian.

I've never intended to direct any of my comments about anyone except the person in the title of this thread.

I have met, befriended, and cared very much for trans-gendered individuals. It was their heart, and generosity and compassion and awesome sense of humor (and a basic selflessness) that i responded to, and i still do.

I am sorry. You've always been a lovely person here on CF.

I apologize.
