  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Ok I am not likeing the whole breastfeeding thing, it just feels weird and I feel like I can't take care of my other daughter because I have Mary to my breast all the time. That being said we can't afford to formula feed so I have to stick with it.

How can I keep my milk supply up, I don't think I am making enough to keep her full. Tonight she nursed every hour on the hour for 4 hours, this has been going on alot, and then last night she slept for like 5-6 hours without nursing so I had to pump because the pain was horrid.
It may be that she's going through a growth spurt now. Many moms get the feeling around this time that they aren't making enough...but have faith. The increase in time spent nursing is designed increase your supply during the spurt.

You are doing so well!

It gets easier as time goes on.

Feeding on the hour for several hours, then sleeping a big block of time is great. Cluster feeding will let both you and her get longer stretches of sleep.

Could you nurse in a sling?

Since you have a pump, could to offer a bottle, via Daddy 1-2 a day so you won't feel like that's all you do.

I remember being touched out. It's horrible. I swore I was going to give up every day for the first 11 weeks. Then I realized it stopped hurting, my milk had regulated itself for weeks and he was finally spacing out his day time feedings.

Breastfeeding is a labor of love and the hardest thing I've ever done.

:) I will pray for you and your breastfeeding relationship. :)

I have tried nursing in the sling, and it worked on the left breast but not on the right, that is the one she lets go of all the time so it was a big mess.

Hubby has tried to feed her with a bottle, but here lately she has only wanted to take the breast.

thanks for praying for us.

I have a thought about this... It's possible that her neck is out of alignment so nursing on the one side is uncomfortable for her. This has happened with Several of my breastfed babies. They would refuse to nurse on one side, or cry/scream whenever I would try to put them on that particular side... but as Soon as they got adjusted, they'd nurse on both sides with no problem.

If you do try a chiropractor, I'd suggest a Palmer school graduate chiro (it's like the Ivy League of chiropractic schools so they always advertise that they graduated from there). The technique is more precise and Much easier on the bones/joints/everything. My chiro has adjusted all my kids, and the last 3 got adjusted starting at 2 days old. :)

Just a thought...

do insurance companies cover that? We are really short on funds right now, hubby got laid off in March and still looking for a new job, and I am on maternity and off for the summer so we really don't have money to pay the full amount.

If I do the football hold with her she nurses better on that side.

Contact your local WIC office, they can set you up with a LC even if you do not meed the income guidelines to get WIC food or formula as it's through the Health Dept.

My local LLL meeting is only once a month in the middle of no where, I have only made it once.

Where do you live? :p Seriously if you live near me I'll come help you out.

For some reason with both luke and anna..they did much better on the left side with the football hold only as well. i just think its a weird angle otherwise..so nothing to be concerned with.

thanks for the link, I think she is doing it because she is a very distraced feeding and is constantly trying to take in everything while nursing and pulling off often. She has a 27 month old sister who is very busy and Mary likes to watch her.

Well..... its like the food hurts their stomach. With Maya when she is not on meds I can feel her stomach lurch, I can *feel* the food hitting her stomach. Its acid reflux, so they will cry while eating and/or after eating. Or all the time. There is spit up, a lot of it, so much to where they will still be spitting up clear mucusy fluid up until the next feeding, sometimes. They will fuss when they spit up because it hurts (acidic stomachy fluids). Maya sounds mucusy when she is having a stomach fit, like she has a bunch of phlegm in her throat and then she just screams and screams. Oh here is a link I just found: http://www.babycenter.com/refcap/baby/babyills/babystomach/10900.html

It can be close to the symptoms of overactive letdown though.... at one point I had both, so I didn't recognize the reflux until later.
