Bought a new monitor...

Today my new Asus VG34VQL1B ultra wide gaming monitor arrived.



Currently I have three displays on my desk: a Samsung SA650 27" (purchased in 2012) and two Eizo S1921 19" that I bought used on Ebay.



I considered buying the Samsung Odyssey 49" ultrawide which would have replaced the current display real estate nearly one to one, but I wanted to reduce the overall footprint on my desk. The Asus at 34" is a good compromise. I'll be using the monitor for work and gaming.

Right now my wife and I are doing some remodeling, after that I'll install the new display and post some pictures here.

These types of luxuries are unbecoming a Christian...especially in these times. You are in danger of being called a collector of treasures on earth, instead of in heaven! You will not be viewed in a positive light after flaunting these purchases.

Lucky for you, it would be my duty and honor to take this burden off your hands.....to make myself the object of the insults and ostracisms from the church, instead of you.......By taking these monitors off your hands, and using them in my office instead.

I hadn't thought about that. Now that you mention it, that'll be something to consider.

I ask because I'm considering mounts myself, probably those arms rather than on the wall. Haven't done it yet, but I may want to do that at the office when I get back there.

Very nice! I haven't used multi monitor setups in years. I just have one Asus VG27AQ overclocked to 165 HZ. Serves me quite nicely and I got a good deal on it considering I usually pay twice what I paid for it when I upgrade my monitor.

Next monitor I buy im probably going to go 4k though. Soon as the RTX 3080 becomes affordable again. I refuse to pay $2,000 for a $700 MSRP video card.

The actual picture quality is awesome!

I had these Eizo monitors laying around and was getting ready to toss them out, but before I could my sister-in-law claimed them for her business.



I purchased the beige one in 2002 for around 600 Euros. The rest I bought on Ebay.

Just for info...

I had an issue with color bleeding and smearing. It was happening while watching movies and gaming. I looked on the net and many users are saying this is an issue with VA panels. It got so bad that I almost sent the monitor back. After tinkering with the display settings I found a simple solution. There is an OD (overdrive) setting on the monitor, that when turned down to 0 stops 99% of the bleeding and smearing. After playing games at 165 Hz and watching movies in 4K I didn't notice any more color bleeding at all. Someone online also said it helps if you turn off HDR in Windows and in the Asus display settings. Neither one of those were previously activated in my system, so I can't confirm that.
