Authorities have confirmed to The Post that they have identified a suspect in the Boston Marathon bombing.

The suspect — a Saudi national who suffered shrapnel wounds in today's blast — is currently being guarded in a Boston hospital.

A law enforcement source confirmed to The Post that 12 people were killed and nearly 50 were injured in today's blast.​

Depends on the person's means also by making something bigger you increase the risk of discovery.

There were not but less than fifty people that that could apply to compare that to some other attacks in the past and it is safe to say that if their goal was to have an attack anywhere near that stale they failed.

Well maybe not, but still they probably could have done more ( thankfully they did not) to kill more people either by planting more or planting them in different places.

You do realize they do not have infinite resources don't you?

They placed devices where they could, where they saw gaps in security, not where some detailed analysis indicated maximum casualties.

Anyway massive respect to the people who ran in to help/move the barriers almost immediately after the explosion. I dont know if I'd be brave enough for that.

Well then no matter why they did not kill many people still does not matter if that was their goal. Now if their goal was just to kill people any number of people or to make a point they were successful on both counts.

That would indicate a short fuse of some kind. Trigger it and try to get far enough away.

That could also answer some of the "why nots?" when it comes to timing. Bomb places immediately before detonation, timing might not be possible for maximum damage.

Erm yeah I'd imagine the police are going to be looking at every package at the moment. One police official mentioned that when people ran off because of the explosions lots dropped bags etc... The military/police will look at all of them in case it's a bomb.

That also may be why not many died because many people had packages, yet they were not planted.

Praise God there were not more people effected while at the same time praying for those who were is how I am choosing to look at this. I actually found the positive in something ( not usually good at that.
