As far as working toward being a legal citizen while working in the US, it's a great idea but once you're living on a farm (for example) putting in 16-hour days of hard manual labor, can you imagine looking forward to going home and opening up one of your 30 volumes of English literacy lessons? This describes my friend and I know he wants to be a citizen and his English has definitely improved, but I have to admit I feel bad for him when I see his bookshelf full of English books that he has yet to get through. Most of the time he's simply too exhausted. But he keeps them dusted off...
I think the LEGAL process needs to be made easier and not be a drawn-out decades long thing. That's kind of ridiculous. If people just cross the border, how does that make those folks feel who are trying to do it right but get so little support?
