  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I subscribe to Old Earth Creationism (YECs please save your arguments and attempts to sway me otherwise - I've been down the Ken Hamm road before). Anyway, being a fan of Hugh Ross' ministry Reasons to Believe, I try to read the online science articles regarding Neanderthals, dinosaurs, etc. but the papers are so technical that it goes somewhat over my head. Can anyone steer me toward a somewhat more simple OEC book regarding Genesis? Thank you!

JustMeSee,

The link you attached simply leads to a pro-evolution website. Not interested whatsoever; I got the impression that you're simply trying to promote evolution and sway me to your side when I never asked for it. Or am I missing something and incorrect in my assumption?

By OEC, do you mean that God created the earth directly, or God created the processes that would eventually cause the earth to be created?

No need to ask this question. That is something the OEC book should address.

Frankly, I can not come up with any such book. I think the basic idea of OEC is that God creates the processes and the objects would take a long time to be made through the processes.

So, the nebula hypotheses would be one possible origin of the earth. Basically, the concept is evolutional rather than creational, only not related to life.

OEC as opposed to the Young Earth Creationists like ministries "Answers in Genesis" that tout the earth is maximum 10,000 years old.

As stated in my original post, I flat out disagree with YECs viewpoints and am quite familiar with Answers in Genesis; in fact, I personally met and spoke to Ken Ham when I was a brand new believer while being completely indoctrinated by my southern Baptist church at the time.
