Here, let me try this again. Then read it again---the bible says nothing about His substance ---the bible does say we are partakers of His nature.
Here, let me try this again.
You said: "No----we are made in His image--As I've said before, that image is not a clone likeness anymore than the fact that a corn cobb doll is made in our image. We are partakers of His divine nature----not His divine substance."
How can you say such a thing with zero Biblical support for it?
Again, you're contrasting this whole thing to the idea of "substance" which is no where found in the Bible. You are not making sense---the bible says we are made in His image---a likeness is not a clone, a likeness is a reflection(like we see through a glass darkly now) a portrait, a facsimile, it is not the same as the actual thing being portrayed as a corn cobb doll is made in our image--so is a Barbie doll. No matter how like us those dolls may be---they are only in our image, they are not actual humans.
Pe_1:4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
Your entire post also requires stuff about "substance". Without that you post's logic falls apart. The words image and nature are!!
This isn't about what I believe. I'm asking YOU to explain YOUR statement with Biblical support. From what I'm seeing right now, there is none because the Bible doesn't talk about substance. Thus your entire statement of YOUR beliefs falls apart.No---what the words image and nature mean are quite logical---what falls apart is your believe that we become a god. You are so bent on believing this that you can not see the truth.
This isn't about what I believe. I'm asking YOU to explain YOUR statement with Biblical support. From what I'm seeing right now, there is none because the Bible doesn't talk about substance. Thus your entire statement of YOUR beliefs falls apart.
What about "substance"-- the very word and idea you used that by your own admission is not found in the Bible? What is sure is what the words image and nature mean--we are made in His image--we are partakers of His nature. That is what the bible days. You are reading more into those words than are there.
What about "substance"-- the very word and idea you used that by your own admission is not found in the Bible?
Show me that in Bible. Show me where you statement and theology about God's SUBSTANCE is in the Bible-- the exact Bible verses. Not you reading into it.Of course not---not that word. Nature and image are. How often do I have to say i9t??--We are made in His image---in His likeness---just as Barbie and Ken are made in our image---that still does not make them human any more than we are made God!
Again, your words:Good grief!!! I have said over and over that no the word substance is not in the bible--NATURE AND IMAGE ARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WE ARE MADE IN HIS IMAGE AND PARTAKERS OF HIS NATURE!!!!!!!!!!! You are reading more into those verses than what they say!!!!!!!
I am not going to keep repeating myself and if you can't comprehend what the bible is saying than you need to get a biblical dictionary, or just a plain dictionary even and reread those verses until you get it!!!
Where in the Bible may I read about this, particularly the part I bolded?No----we are made in His image--As I've said before, that image is not a clone likeness anymore than the fact that a corn cobb doll is made in our image. We are partakers of His divine nature----not His divine substance.
Again, your words:
Where in the Bible may I read about this, particularly the part I bolded?
I feel like this is an easy question and a good chance for you to explain any Biblicalness of your theology. Right now it's appearing to me that you're completely backing off of the bolded part and admitting that it's not in the Bible. If that's not the case, can you please help me better understand your theology?
I specifically asked for Biblical verses talking about your claim of God's substance. Here you gave me a bunch of stuff not from the Bible and not talking God's substance-- completely the opposite of what I asked for.Maybe in someone else's words you might get it---
Possibly the primary meaning of participating in Christ is an idea that is contrasted to our participating in Adam. Being 'in' Christ means were participate in His nature and all the benefits of salvation that this implies. (Romans 5:12, 1 Cor 15:22)) In Adam we participate in the fallen nature, the threat of God's law and eternal death under its wrath. In Christ, we participate in a new federal head of humanity. By being mystically joined into him, the external provision of Salvation for sinners is made to be our internal possession and real experience. In other words, the justification and sanctification of a believer is made to occur individually and effectually when and only when the Spirit removes our life from Adam and unites it into Christ. By this means the entire meaning of the gospel as explained in the Greek scriptures becomes a reality for an individual. It implies a kind of re-birth making it an innate experience regardless of personal growth in Christ as well as ensures and enables continued growth in Christ as a result of the gracious union.
A tract entitled “The Seven Togethers” sums up the Scripture testimony with regard to the Consequences of the believer’s Union with Christ:
Union with Christ results in common sonship, relation to God, character, influence, and destiny. (SYSTEMATIC THEOLOGY A Compendium and Commonplace Book, AUGUSTUS HOPKINS STRONG, P802 )
- Crucified together with Christ—Gal. 2:20—συνεσταύρωμαι.
- Died together with Christ—Col. 2:20—ἀπεθάνετε.
- Buried together with Christ—Rom. 6:4—συνετάφημεν
- Quickened together with Christ—Eph. 2:5—συνεζωοποίησεν
- Raised together with Christ—Col. 3:1—συνηγέρθητε
- Sufferers together with Christ—Rom. 8:17—συμπάσχομεν.
- Glorified together with Christ—Rom. 8:17—συνδοξασθῶμεν.

No matter how closely an image is---it is still NOT THE OBJECT BEING DEPICTED.
We do not become God. We are not a product of God's body---He made us from mud, not from the union of God and the heavenly mother!!!! We did not exist before He formed us from mud. We will not become God, we will become godly---in behavior nd thoughts we will be like Him----not turn into Him.
I specifically asked for Biblical verses talking about your claim of God's substance. Here you gave me a bunch of stuff not from the Bible and not talking God's substance-- completely the opposite of what I asked for.
You have to know that he is not fully human any more. He does not have blood flowing through his veins at this time. He is a resurrected being, and although he has a body of flesh and bone and spirit, it is not like our human body of flesh and bone and blood and spirit.No--He is fully human, fully divine. That is not different than mainline Christianity. He is totally different from us, yet He is fully human. Thus, we will never belike Him. We will never be divine. God alone and Jesus are divine--and the Holy Spirit.
So 1 of the Trinity has a body of flesh and bone and 1 of the Trinity is just spirit?Jesus is the Son of God that has a human body and his divinity remains spirit---God the Father is spirit---that is where were at.
If Jesus has a body of flesh and bone and spirit, and Jesus and God are made of the same substance, then what substance is God the Father made of?Your continued misunderstanding of who God is.
OK I understand. Can you tell me what is the 'nature' of Jesus at this time? You're not getting it. Please read the posts slowly. The word "nature", which is in the Bible, is used interchangeably with "substance", "being", and "essence" in Trinitarian theology. For those that may subscribe to the idea that everything must be found in the Bible, "nature", which, again, is used interchangeably with "substance" by Trinitarians, is found in the Bible.
