  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Biggest loser on CF.....

Just got back from walking about three miles with a friend, with plans to give it another go tomorrow evening! Glorious night, btw, warm and breezy and just a little humid.

I tried on my bridesmaid dress yesterday, which I'd ordered in a smaller size two months ago in good faith, and it fits perfectly!

Too bad I'll have to get it altered in two months when I've dropped another size or two. Molly = excited :pink:

welp, I had some extra time today and can sleep in tomorrow, so I did the leg routine (dealifts, lunges, squats, calf raises, all to failure) then thought "what the heck" and did the shoulder routine after (Db Mil press (adding the same 45lb/50lb alternating to throw things off), shrugs, upright cable rows, Bb miltary press, side raises, all increasing weight with each set, failing on the third set or increase the weight for next time) and now I'm ready to fall over.

I have ended up taking this week easy also. Some of that was because I did weights on Wednesday, and after the squats (with a bar, not a machine) and the deadlifts... my back feels a bit sore if I just carry my bag for a while. I can only do 100 lbs on deadlifts, but can do 400 lbs on the squats (pulley machine)... I was doing over 200 lbs on squats with bar, but I Think that was a lot more workout for my back then the machine squats. In any case, I will take it easy until tomorrow or sunday (just walked today for a few miles).

When I ge tback, I might forget my goal of doing the barbell for squats/etc for high weight and instead focus on lower back and stomach. I Will do enough to keep up (maybe leg extensions/presses?) and will still do bar and not machine chest exercises... but the squat bar exercises are going to wait until my core is stronger.

I have a question.....I have a question?!

Which is the lesser of two evils....in the weight department?

Beer or Wine?

I don't like mixed drinks, so that's out of the question.

* I'm not trying to lose weight, just don't want to gain weight and I like a glass of wine or beer. Sorry, in advance, if I'm not allowed to ask.

I think they're about the same.

However, our in house expert, Mr. Spicy McHaggis, will be better able to answer this. :)

A glass of whine and a 12oz are both one drink and have the same alcohol content. 7 calories per gram in alcohol.

Both have a lot of carbohydrates. I would say they are probably similar when it comes to weight. Now, many doctors will tell you wine offers a lot of other health benefits. Not sure I agree, but oh well.

As long as you are consuming in moderation, I don't think there is going to be a huge difference in the two.

Wine is better for you, healthwise...specifically red wine. :D

When you're trying to lose weight or gain muscle neither are good for you. Alcohol messes with fat breakdown AND growth hormones.

Red wine does have the antioxidant thing going for it.

Then again, beer used to be rationed out on ships for it's vitamin B content.

Me personally, if I was watching the calories to the point where one beverage mattered, you can water down your wine, or go with a low cal low carb beer.

I havent found any that I'd drink regularly but Beck's Preimer is the front runner in my book at 60 cals a serving considering Heinekin light tastes like Heniken light.

On the other hand though, a 12 oz Guinness has 126 cals. Compared to soda, that's the way to go hands down. And if Guinness tastes heavy it's becase your tounge needs exercise.

One word of caution though, and I speak from experience. DO NOT DRINK GUINNESS DURING A WORKOUT. Not even on St. Patty's Day.
